About Tim Goodall

We (Tim and Emma) are putting our family home up for holiday lets for the first time. We live and work in Dubai, but have had our second home in Salcombe since 2007. Salcombe is where my wife's family live and so is somewhere we will continue to visit, in addition to the fact it is in a beautiful part of the world. The house was gutted and stripped back allowing us to create a very personal special, albeit compact, family home for our holidays in the UK. We are not letting the home as a business but more of a sustainable need given it is a second home used once a year. We have put a lot of love, care and thought into the design of the interior and outdoor spaces, and we hope you will enjoy our home as much as we do.

Tim Goodall purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Tim Goodall chose South Hams

Salcombe is a quintessential English seaside town. Very picturesque town, active sailing and fishing harbour with plenty of outdoor scenic and activity opportunities.

What makes this cottage unique

Our Property has the benefits of:

- easy access, on the flat, a few minutes walking distance to town

- off street parking

- outdoor living area

- all mod cons

Fantastic New Year Break

  • 5 of 5

Four of us stayed here for our New Year break 2016. The cottage is compact but has absolutely everything you could need and more. It is warm, comfortable and cozy with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a tv in one of the bedrooms if you are feeling lazy! The kitchen has all mod cons, there is plenty of space around the dining table and the lounge is small but comfortable. The cottage is quietly located, but A short walk takes you in to the main shopping area.

Tim kept in touch from the time of booking right through until we left. He was very accommodating with our arrival and departure times and we were able to park 2 cars on the parking area at the back of the cottage which was very much appreciated.

I highly recommend this accommodation and we will definitely be returning soon.

Thank you very much for letting us stay in your lovely house. Everything was perfect for our needs. We cannot pick any faults with it at all. 10 out of 10!

A fantastic Cottage with every amenity you could wish for

  • 5 of 5

My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the cottage that had everything you would require, close to Restaurants, bars, the sea and shops. Something for everyone and every taste. We are seriously considering a return in the future. Highly recommended. The crabbing is the best we have found anywhere!!!!( great fun for the children)

Shadycombe Cottage

  • 5 of 5

This is our second stay which was as good as the first. The cottage is very well located with only a short flat walk in to the town centre which suited us perfectly as we were away from the bustle and noise of the Salcombe centre, but still felt right there. We were perfectly happy to allow our two twelve olds to wonder into town to do a bit of crabbing. The Salcombe ice-cream factory is too close for comfort as my waist line will attest to.

The cottage itself is well furnished, and while small it is not claustrophobic. It has everything required and our party of four fitted in very well with space to spare. To have a parking space at the back was a real bonus, even if getting in and out was a bit of a challenge. The property is in very good order and well presented, we have no complaints.

This year for the first time we were able to use the barbeque which worked very well. Sitting out on the deck with friends and a glass of cold chardonnay and watching the sun go down was magical. Hopefully we will be doing the same next August, so don't book then.

I am happy to recommend Shadycombe cottage unreservedly.

Great cottage. Great location. Definitely staying again.

  • 5 of 5

We love salcombe, and we loved our time in the cottage. Everything you could need is there, and the cottage is to a great standard throughout. The parking space is an amazing addition, and offers brilliant access to all the facilities.

Fantastic cottage!

  • 5 of 5

A fantastic cottage in a great location, just a few minutes walk from the town. The cottage was clean with lovely décor. Great open living space downstairs which had everything you need. Comfy bedrooms and surprisingly plenty of storage space for a cottage.

Salcombe is a quiet town but very beautiful, and this cottage acts as a good base to explore local parts of Devon. We visited Overbecks National Trust, which is just a short drive and had lovely views of the esturary.

We only had a small issue with the internet but the owners were quick to connect us and try to resolve this.

A lovely holiday and we would certainly recommend this property.

Many thanks

Mr & Mrs Buttery.

Scuba diving on the wrecks, canoeing, kayaking, power-boating, surfing.

Horse riding.

Painting courses in watercolours at Harbour House in Kingsbridge where there are also classes for yoga, tai chi, pilates.

Coast/Beach:

There are a number of beaches within the Salcombe estuary, sandy, safe and clean. All within varying walking distances and ferries, the ferries are taken from the Ferry Inn. Clambering over the rocks to Sunny Cove or walking along the cliff tops, the views are stunning with spectacular coastal paths for lunch at Gara Rock and beyond.

Distances:

The cottage is within walking distance of the Salcombe town.

Further afield there is:

Further Details:

The local shops are very good. You will find Coleman's a family butcher , delicious baker, fishmongers, delicatessen shops, grocers, gift shops, clothing, interiors & home-wares etc and the best sweetie shop you have ever seen, which the children love. There is a Lloyds bank and a Boots chemist. The clothing shops are interesting and varied for wetter days. We love "Chattels" at the end of Fore street opposite the butchers, for its interesting selection of home-ware, interiors and gifts. We love the sausages from Colemans the butchers. There are numerous restaurants and pubs for eating out and serving locally caught fish or shell fish; Captain Flints has great pizza's, but it is very popular and queues are to be expected; Salcombe ice-cream is a must! For a very good curry on a Friday night at The Pilchard Inn on Burgh Island, go to Bigbury which is accessed at high tide by a tractor, or walk over the spit of sand for an adventure. Newton Ferries has The Ship Inn on the tidal river's edge. Kingsbridge has two of the usual supermarkets. Walking in the area is so varied with Dartmoor close at hand and the Ramblers welcome people to join them three times a week. There are National Trust houses, e.g. Sharpitor on the cliffs at the mouth of Salcombe estuary and another at Dartmouth.
