A fantastic Cottage with every amenity you could wish for
About the Owner
We (Tim and Emma) are putting our family home up for holiday lets for the first time. We live and work in Dubai, but have had our second home in Salcombe since 2007. Salcombe is where my wife's family live and so is somewhere we will continue to visit, in addition to the fact it is in a beautiful part of the world. The house was gutted and stripped back allowing us to create a very personal special, albeit compact, family home for our holidays in the UK. We are not letting the home as a business but more of a sustainable need given it is a second home used once a year. We have put a lot of love, care and thought into the design of the interior and outdoor spaces, and we hope you will enjoy our home as much as we do.

A fantastic Cottage with every amenity you could wish for
My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the cottage that had everything you would require, close to Restaurants, bars, the sea and shops. Something for everyone and every taste. We are seriously considering a return in the future. Highly recommended. The crabbing is the best we have found anywhere!!!!( great fun for the children)
This is our second stay which was as good as the first. The cottage is very well located with only a short flat walk in to the town centre which suited us perfectly as we were away from the bustle and noise of the Salcombe centre, but still felt right there. We were perfectly happy to allow our two twelve olds to wonder into town to do a bit of crabbing. The Salcombe ice-cream factory is too close for comfort as my waist line will attest to.
The cottage itself is well furnished, and while small it is not claustrophobic. It has everything required and our party of four fitted in very well with space to spare. To have a parking space at the back was a real bonus, even if getting in and out was a bit of a challenge. The property is in very good order and well presented, we have no complaints.
This year for the first time we were able to use the barbeque which worked very well. Sitting out on the deck with friends and a glass of cold chardonnay and watching the sun go down was magical. Hopefully we will be doing the same next August, so don't book then.
I am happy to recommend Shadycombe cottage unreservedly.
Great cottage. Great location. Definitely staying again.
We love salcombe, and we loved our time in the cottage. Everything you could need is there, and the cottage is to a great standard throughout. The parking space is an amazing addition, and offers brilliant access to all the facilities.
A fantastic cottage in a great location, just a few minutes walk from the town. The cottage was clean with lovely décor. Great open living space downstairs which had everything you need. Comfy bedrooms and surprisingly plenty of storage space for a cottage.
Salcombe is a quiet town but very beautiful, and this cottage acts as a good base to explore local parts of Devon. We visited Overbecks National Trust, which is just a short drive and had lovely views of the esturary.
We only had a small issue with the internet but the owners were quick to connect us and try to resolve this.
A lovely holiday and we would certainly recommend this property.

Perfect cottage for a family holiday in Salcombe
We had the most amazing week in Salcombe helped by the gorgeous weather and this wonderful property.
Before we left for Salcombe Tim sent us every piece of information imaginable regarding the cottage, facilities, local area and even images of the cottage from the 19th century - I can honestly say I have never been more informed about a holiday rental in all my life.
Tim greeted us on arrival and helped us park our two cars down in the small driveway, even readjusting the layout so we could fit both cars on a one car driveway. The Cottage is beautifully decorated, extremely well maintained, impeccably clean and has everything you need - a home from home (if not better).
The location is perfect, just 5 mins walk from the shops and 10mins from the main highstreet.
I would highly recommend this to anyone - we had two children under 2 plus 6 adults and there was plenty of space for all our paraphernalia - but couples / groups of friends would also really enjoy this beautiful cottage.
We especially enjoying listening to Tim's playlist's each evening!
Almost certainly we will be returning.
Massive thank you Tim and Emma for a wonderful holiday.
Fantastic cottage, great location
Lovely cottage, very well kept with everything you could want for a home from home relaxing stay. Great patio area that gets the sun in the evening for a bbq (provided) or a glass of wine! Great location being only a five minute leisurely stroll into Salcombe. Tim the owner was helpful, giving us plenty of information on the best restaurants , places to visit etc would defiantly recommend to anyone who's looking to stay in Salcombe ,you can book this cottage with the confidence of getting a great holiday home in a fantastic location.

The local shops are very good. You will find Coleman's a family butcher , delicious baker, fishmongers, delicatessen shops, grocers, gift shops, clothing, interiors & home-wares etc and the best sweetie shop you have ever seen, which the children love. There is a Lloyds bank and a Boots chemist. The clothing shops are interesting and varied for wetter days. We love "Chattels" at the end of Fore street opposite the butchers, for its interesting selection of home-ware, interiors and gifts. We love the sausages from Colemans the butchers. There are numerous restaurants and pubs for eating out and serving locally caught fish or shell fish; Captain Flints has great pizza's, but it is very popular and queues are to be expected; Salcombe ice-cream is a must! For a very good curry on a Friday night at The Pilchard Inn on Burgh Island, go to Bigbury which is accessed at high tide by a tractor, or walk over the spit of sand for an adventure. Newton Ferries has The Ship Inn on the tidal river's edge. Kingsbridge has two of the usual supermarkets. Walking in the area is so varied with Dartmoor close at hand and the Ramblers welcome people to join them three times a week. There are National Trust houses, e.g. Sharpitor on the cliffs at the mouth of Salcombe estuary and another at Dartmouth.
