Went on a golfing break to North Berwick - property located in a terrific position for courses, the town and also close to station for trip to enjoy Edinburgh nightlife - the apartment has a great mix of modern amenities like Sky and wifi to match stunning sea views - the courtesy of everybody we met in area top class - Roy, the owner, made us very welcome , nothing too much trouble for him. We will stay again, availability permitting !

North Berwick is surrounded by lovely beaches, the closest of which can be seen from the apartment and is only a minute's walk away. The town itself has two typically Scottish beaches of golden sand, rocks and pools (the east and west bays), both handily placed for the town centre shops, restaurants and ice-cream sellers.

Between them lies the harbour and the multi award-winning Scottish Seabird Centre visitor attraction, from where boat trips go round the Bass Rock and other islands.


There is a direct rail link to North Berwick from Edinburgh's main Waverley Station; the apartment is a short walk from the station.

North Berwick is a few miles off the main A1 road route that runs from Edinburgh south to Berwick-upon-Tweed, on to Newcastle and eventually becomes the A1/M1 all the way to London.

Edinburgh Airport is about 55km away. There is an airport shuttle bus to the centre of Edinburgh, from where you can easily transfer to the train at Waverley Station.

Situated 25 miles from Edinburgh, easily accessible by a 35 minute train journey to and from the heart of the city, North Berwick is one of Scotland's loveliest seaside resorts. With beautiful golden beaches, two golf courses, a high street full of interesting boutique shops and art galleries, lots of places to eat and drink and a multitude of local attractions, it is a great base for exploring this part of Scotland and the nation's capital.

There is a fine selection of independent specialist shops and galleries in the town centre, including our own Westgate Galleries.

The high street has an award winning butcher, a deli, a independent wine and whisky shop, and convenience stores that can cater for your self-catering needs. There are also a couple of larger supermarkets on the outskirts of town although we would encourage you to support our local high street traders wherever possible.

There are plenty of restaurants in the town, including Chinese, Indian, Thai, Italian and a steakhouse, with several takeaway outlets as well. There are also several pubs and hotels offering food along with their fine beers, wines and spirits.

Local Attractions

North Berwick is home to the award-winning Scottish Seabird Centre, with the National Museum of Scotland's Flight Museum nearby at East Fortune, and two Historic Scotland properties at Tantallon and Dirleton castles a short trip away. Only slightly further afield are John Muir's Birthplace, The Saltire Centre, Myreton Motor Museum, Hailes Castle, Musselburgh Racecourse and Glenkinchie Distillery.

The spectacular Bass Rock, which lies just offshore in the Firth of Forth has been described by Sir David Attenborough as “one of the 12 wildlife wonders of the world”.


Being only a 35 minute train journey from the heart of Edinburgh, North Berwick is the perfect base for combining the delights of the Scottish outdoors with the excitement of one of the great “must-see” cities of the world.

As well as the beaches, North Berwick has public gardens, two putting greens, tennis courts, play- and skate-parks, football and rugby pitches and lots more outside space. Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen and towels included (apart from beach towels).
