About Charles

I spent 4 years restoring it to the current condition. We have been amazed how well it has rented... 21 weeks last year and are pleasantly surprised by the positive comments and feedback to date. I think you will like it.

Charles purchased this barn in 1987

Why Charles chose Cotswold district

I bought Pound Cottage and The Long Barn in 1987 when my mother said it was the prettiest Cotswold Cottage and set of outbuildings she had even seen in one of the prettiest and quietest of hamlets of the Cotswold's. Well what could I do ..mother had spoken !

What makes this barn unique

The Long Barn is situated near our house Pound Cottage in the quiet hamlet of Duntisbourne Abbots and really the very local area is simply stunning and very quiet despite the odd car or tractor. You can walk the local villages or hamlets and for the more adventurous there are well sign posted walks along rural footpaths. We use the Long Barn for our weekend guests occasionally and they all seem to relax in it and the lower garden and rarely want to leave.

A great week in Cotswolds village!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed with with 2 kids (2 and 9 years old) during Eastern 2016. Very cosy cottage designed in traditional style. Fully equipped kitchen, big living room and 2 bedrooms with comfortable beds. We slept so well in this quite, countryside we had problems to visit all planned attractions in the surrounding: Bath, Blenheim Palace, Warwick Castle, Longleat, Stratford-upon-Avon, Lacock Abbey, Severn valley, etc.

We highly recommend this location. Very friendly owner and reasonable price.

Beautiful Location – Charming Property

  • 5 of 5

I don’t have anything to add to the previous reviews as they truthfully reflect this well-appointed and charming property.

Charles (the owner) met us on arrival was very helpful and welcoming and as mentioned by other reviewers is indeed a sincerely nice man.

I would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful cottage to anyone looking to visit the Cotswolds and enjoy a relaxing stay in a most peaceful location.

A lovely cosy cottage in a pretty village setting.

  • 5 of 5

The barn is just as described, most cosy and peaceful. The owner has furnished it to a very high standard with some thoughtful touches. It was extremely clean and the bedding of a noticeable high quality; the beds themselves were most comfortable. There is a charming spiral staircase up to the top floor (so maybe not so good for aged relatives) and the cottage is awash with magnificent oak beams so do mind your head! The village is charming and an easy drive off the main road. It has a village hall ( good for parking) and a pretty Church but no shop; the pub is around a 40 minute walk from the village itself. There are some lovely walks from the village although you would need a car to get the most out of the area. Charles ( the owner) is on hand in the cottage behind you if you have any queries; he was most friendly and welcoming and helped us to get the most out of our stay. I would definitely recommend this cottage to friends/ relatives.

Fabulous relaxing holiday

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the barn for a week, it was our first holiday with our six month old daughter and it was truly a memorable one. The barn is so cosy, it felt like home right away. The gardens were beautiful, so much so we changed our plan for the week so that we could spend a full day relaxing in the garden. Charles made us feel so welcome and gave us some excellent tips for places to visit and places to eat. We were sad to leave at the end of our stay and would definitely stay here again.

Cotswold retreat

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent a week at this charming, and well appointed, cottage. We wanted a peaceful retreat where we could just unwind and let the world pass us by. It fitted the bill perfectly, and it oozes comfort and charm, set in a picturesque Cotswold hamlet. It is ideally placed for you to explore as much, or as little, of the Cotswolds as takes your fancy.

The owner, Charles, could not have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for him.

Highly recommended.
