In pre-mountainous countryside, in the midst of oak, chestnut and pine trees you will find this charming, rustic, but fully-restored stone country house situated in one of the five hamlets which together are known under the name of Ferrieres Poussarou, and which themselves are in the famous wine-producing area of St Chinian. It is there that you will find this beautifully renovated stone country house. If peace and tranquillity are what you want/require, this is the house for you. The only noises you are likely to hear are the sounds of nature, with the occasional harvesting or mowing of a field by a local farmer or your children making the most of the magnificent, completely private 10m x 5m secluded swimming pool, perched on an elevated position above and behind the house, un-overlooked by anyone else but with a stunning view down the valley and across the fields surrounding the house. Once there you are unlikely to want to move but if you do there are plenty of attractions locally.

Why Alan Hart chose Saint-Chinian area

The owner, Alan Hart, fell in love with Languedoc when he first holidayed there in 2002. Having passed previous holidays in Provence he felt that Languedoc had as much, if not more, to offer in terms of beautiful countryside, culture and history, sandy beaches, good food and wine and friendly people but at much more sensible and affordable prices.

Working in a very stressful job in the City of London at the time he was looking for a bolt hole where he could "get away from it all" and enjoy perfect rest, peace and seclusion. He found it in this beautifully converted old stone house, situated in a small hamlet at the end of a picturesque valley. He posted a picture of the valley on his work computer, as his screensaver, which reminder of his "little bit of heaven" probably saved his sanity.

Notes on accommodation: Outside: - A pretty separate pool house and covered area houses a BBQ, a plastic outside dining table and seating for 6, together with summer kitchen, two hob plate, sink and cabinet. The enclosed pool house has a hot water shower, toilet, fridge. - There is a carport attached to the house, available for use. (The garage is reserved for use by the owner). - A picnic table for leisurely breakfasts, with views stretching down the valley, is outside the kitchen door. - Two lines for drying clothes are available at the rear of the house and in the field opposite the front of the house. Inside: - The utility room contains a freezer, washing machine, separate spin dryer, vacuum cleaner, iron and ironing board - In the galleried/mezzanine area above the kitchen there is a separate quiet, lounge/reading area with a large sofa. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: - There is a charge when booking the house for general cleaning for each rental period. We always advise our guests to leave the house clean and tidy, to the same standard as when they check in. Otherwise, further cleaning can be arranged at the guests' cost based on the amount of work required. - Pillows & blankets are provided for free. We encourage you to bring your own bedding (sheets, duvet covers and pillow covers) and towels, which, together with duvets if required, we can also supply at small additional charges. - Please keep the mattress protectors on the beds at all times!!! - The swimming pool is cleaned once a week. Otherwise it is up to the guests to keep it clean during their stay.

Booking Notes:
Booking should be confirmed as soon as possible as Easter and the summer months, in particular tend to get booked out as much as one year in advance.
A deposit of 25% is required to secure a booking with the balance paid by bank transfer at least one week before arrival. A returnable deposit/"caution" of £500 is taken at the beginning of your stay as security against loss/breakages and if the house needs to be cleaned after your stay and before the next holiday makers arrive.

Changeover Day:
Booking period is normally (particularly in mid and high seasons) from a Saturday to a Saturday with "check in" after 3 pm and "check out" at 10 am (at the very latest to enable us to get the house ready for the next people) on the last day of your stay.
