About Matt & Kate White

Matt and Kate White live at this address with their two young children Jack & Harry, and black labrador Lola - all of us are very friendly and look forward to welcoming you.

Matt & Kate White purchased this barn in 2007

Why Matt & Kate White chose Winchester

We bought our house together with our converted stables/coach house, as this is a stunning period property in a superb village location on the edge of the beautiful and historic City of Winchester. Mildmay House was formerly the Vicarage in Twyford and has stunning views of the Church and water meadows beyond.

What makes this barn unique

The property is in a quiet location and a short stroll from the Village shop, post office and pubs, and there is very easy access to hustle and bustle of Winchester.

Having a car is not necessary as bus and train are easy walking distance.

A most enjoyable stay. The Barn is lovely, warm & cosy with everything you need. We are both looking forward to returning soon. Many thanks Angela & Martin Woodman - Derbyshire - Oct 13.

Lovely place to stay. Very comfortable, quiet and well equipped. I especially enjoyed being able to go on walks so close to the Barn. Matt & Kate are very kind and helpful and I would definately recommend this place to others. Teresa Barlow - Somerset - Sept 13.

Kate and Matt made us welcome from the start. Beautiful location in a very old part of England. Easy access to motorway and rail but could be a million miles away. Totally quiet with beautiful walks along the river . We will come back again!!

Great accomodation

  • 5 of 5

We spent four nights in the barn at Mildmay house. The barn had been beautifully renovated and most importantly had a very comfy bed. We would highly recommend this accomodation

A Haven

  • 5 of 5

Proper pillows, the warmest of welcomes, beautiful linen, exceptional and tasteful sympathetic renovation of a Grade 2 listed barn. Honestly, what's not to like?

March turned into winter again with three inches of snow. This only added to the charm of the property and the setting. The peace and tranquility were heightened further, coupled with the warmth and comfort of the property. So hard to leave.

Would (and have already) recommend highly. We would definitely return.

Excellent - Beautifull barn conversion

  • 5 of 5

Very nice from inside, very cosy.

Kate was welcoming and pointed out amenities in the local area.

There was fresh milk, tea and coffee already there which was handy meant I didn't haven't to go to the shop after a long drive to get there.

Very nice part of the country.

Hot water may take a while to come through but it works, fully furnished with a kitchen & oven. The barn is from the 17th century we found it quite cool that we came to visit Stonehenge a piece of history, and we were living in a barn from the 17th century also a piece of history.

Parking is in the nearby church yard, no more then a few feet from the driveway.

Kate explained everything upfront which is good.

The barn was immaculately clean, towels where fresh, bed sheets clean, even the storage areas where immaculate.

Because the is barn is so beautiful we felt it would be rude to not give it back as close to the condition in which it was given to us. There was a hoover in the storage on the upper level which I used.

All in all 5 stars, me and my girlfriend wanted a cosy romantic get away for a few days and this ticked all the boxes.

Great location and a nicely converted barn

  • 3 of 5

Had a wonderful stay at Matt and Kate's barn. Matt was very welcoming on arrival. Barn is well equipped and there is a beautiful walk along the river to Winchester. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a mini break to the country. Only aspect that was disappointing was the shower pressure, if you like cold showers then great, but warm/hot showers had minimal pressure and struggled to wash the shampoo and conditioner out of my hair. Would recommend washing it before arrival! Source of heat was electrical heaters which were hit and miss and difficult to keep regulated.
