About the Owner

We (David and Ali Cripps, with our youngest son James) live at Knighton Farmhouse, and the Brew House forms the east 'wing' of the farmhouse. We have lived here since our return to the UK from several years in both Canada and the USA. We love running the Brew House as a holiday cottage, and many of our guests have become friends. We know the Island very well (Ali grew up here) and as we both work from home, are usually around to give advice and ideas of good local places to visit.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"The Brew House is a superb holiday cottage. It is very well equipped, clean, comfortable and a real home from home. The cottage is located in a beautiful area and it is a great base from which to explore the island. The owners are a lovely family who have taken the trouble to add lots of thoughtful finishing touches to ensure that you have a great holiday."

“Exceptional holiday cottage! From the moment you arrive at this beautiful cottage on the Isle of Wight you will be captivated. Ali (the owner) gives you a very warm welcome and provides delicious home made preserves and cake for your arrival! You immediately feel very at home and soon settle into visiting the many places to see and things to do on the island."

“A wonderful cosy family-friendly holiday cottage - this beautiful cottage was everything we needed for our 14-month daughter and ourselves. We have already recommended this cottage and the Cripps family to all our family and friends and will be going back ourselves!"

Lovely, luxurious cottage

  • 5 of 5

It's a lovely, comfortable cottage with Ali and David as wonderful hosts. The cottage has everything you can wish for. If you want to read a book, play a game or cook in the completely fitted kitchen, it's all possible. The cottage is in a very central position on the Island, so everything is within reach. Pub at walking distance as well. And, Ali and David lend us their bikes so we could go on a bike ride which we thoroughly enjoyed. So highly aprreciated! Lovely, very complete and enjoyable cottage on a lovely Island!

Wonderful cosy cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Brew House cottage for three nights in April and enjoyed every minute. Ali and David were fabulous hosts and made us feel very welcome. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch and included a homemade cake (still warm!) and some wonderful homemade flapjacks (which Ali has now kindly sent us the recipe for as we loved them!). The cottage is very well equipped and beautifully decorated. It is situated in a very picturesque village too. There are lots of books and toys provided if you have children with you and a lovely log burner which is nice and cosy on a chilly evening. We would highly recommend a stay at this cottage to all our friends and family and will definitely return soon. Thanks again Ali and David for a wonderful break.

Amazing escape to the country

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a fantastic week at the Brew House at the beginning of April. The location of the cottage is great as, being near the centre of the island means that you're never too far a drive from anywhere. The cottage was immaculately tidy when we arrived and there was a lovely hamper of local produce waiting for us on the kitchen table. The owners had made sure the cottage was well-stocked with all of the essentials and there was a large selection of toys for our three year old to enjoy. This was our first family holiday to the Isle of Wight but judging from this experience it will certainly not be our last. We look forward to revisiting the Brew House in the very near future. The Pointer Inn in Newchurch and the Garlic Farm come highly recommended from us for their excellent food.

Wonderful Isle of Wight Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We booked the Brew House for our first trip to the Isle of Wight and it definitely met all of our needs for the weekend. The Brew House itself is a lovely, clean and well-stocked cottage and we had such a comfortable stay. Ali and David were fantastic and thoughtful hosts and were very helpful in our preparations for the weekend. We were warmly greeted by them when we arrived late on the Friday night and took up their offer to use their selection of bikes on the Saturday to ride the local trail. We also greatly enjoyed the scrumptious selection of goodies provided upon arrival. The central location of the Brew House made for easy exploring of the island and we loved the quiet area of Knighton. A dinner at the Pointer Inn is a must - be sure to order the pavlova for dessert. Thanks again Ali and David for making us feel so welcome!

Isle of Wight short break

  • 5 of 5

We spent an enjoyable 4 nights at The Brew House. It is an extremely peaceful, comfortable and convenient place to stay. Ali and David (the owners) are very welcoming and helpful. Delicious welcome hamper with home made cake and preserves. They will book the ferry for you, provide directions, ideas and advice on where to visit/eat, lend you bikes etc.

The children's bedroom is delightful and there are lots of books and toys for them to use. (Something for all ages).

We enjoyed walking from Yarmouth to Freshwater Bay, visiting Osborne House,

walking along coast to Steephill Cove.

Location

From the Owner

We love the area - peaceful and rural, yet easy access to everywhere.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

The Island is famous for its many miles of excellent biking and walking trails - and the cottage is situated right on the Bembridge Trail. The famous 'Walk the Wight' cross-Island charity walk trail (27 miles across the Island) goes right past the front gate! There are also two major walking festivals on the Island every year.

Coast/Beach:

All the Island's glorious beaches are within easy reach from the Brew House, the closest ones being only 10 minutes drive away.

Travel:

The use of a car is essential, and we can help you arrange your ferry travel to the Island.

Distances:

The Brew House is a short and beautiful walk across the fields from the famous Garlic Farm. This is a wonderful place to eat - and to sample the delicious produce of the farm. The Pointer Inn in Newchurch is within easy walking distance of the cottage and offers a wide range of excellent food and very friendly service. The menu always has Island sourced meat and very local (from various folk in the village!) vegetables.

Further Details:

Many of our guests have found it helpful to arrange an on-line supermarket grocery delivery to come to the cottage when they arrive. The Island has all the major supermarkets to choose from. A wide range of restaurant details and sample menus are available with our guest information in the cottage.
