About Charlotte Kelly

Charlotte Kelly

Why Charlotte Kelly chose Milton-under-Wychwood

We moved out of London about 6 years ago to have better quality of life with our family. We have not been disappointed! We love the local area and have become involved in many aspects of village life. It is far enough away from the crowds to have a peaceful recharge of the batteries yet easily accessible to places when we need a more urban fix! A trip to the cinema , shopping, museums etc are all within reach.

What makes this cottage unique

We love the way it offers so many different experiences whether we want to go for a walk in the beautiful countryside, off road mountain biking or a visit to a country pub. We can also go shopping in Cheltenham, visit the theatre and Ashmoleum Museum in Oxford or catch the train to London for a day trip. We love how everything is so easy yet also so different.

We can also have a game of tennis whenever the weather is fine... Summer or Winter and then sit by the log burner and recover! The cottage is extremely quiet and not overlooked and offers the perfect sanctuary or base to explore from.

Lovely little cottage in beautiful Cotswold countryside

  • 5 of 5

Peaceful location in the lovely village of Milton under Wychwood. Information provided by the owners very helpful, particularly the walk which we would never have found ourselves. Within easy reach of Oxford and the beautiful Cotswold villages.

A great weekend

  • 5 of 5

Four of us stayed here for a games weekend, which obviously included tennis. We were blessed with fantastic weather and the weekend was a huge success. The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable. We all slept really well. Went to the Hare for dinner on the Saturday which is recommended. Thank you Charlotte for letting us stay in your beautiful cottage.

Nice cozy cottage

  • 4 of 5

This was a nice, clean place to stay in a quaint town. The rooms were clean. The main bed was comfortable- the other not so much (according to my 16yo). It’s close to town, co-op and a good restaurant. It is close to several other towns to explore the Cotswolds.

My only complaint is there are no amenities - no blow dryer, no soap etc. so bring your own. It was a little frustrating to need to run for bath soap after a long day of travel. I’m not sure I’ve ever had to bring my own before even in the other England VRBOs - but maybe I’ve just been lucky. Overall just a beautiful place for a relaxing weekend! Would recommend the stay!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and so glad you found it relaxing and a beautiful area to spend time in. I was a little confused about the lack of 'amenities".......the kitchen, separate loo and the main bathroom all have liquid soap in them and the hair dryer is in the drawer in the main bedroom...maybe you just didn't see them! You'll hopefully be able to use them next time! The mattresses in the second room are the same make as the one in the main bedroom...again maybe it's just personal preference but so far no other complaints!

Cozy Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Great stay in a cozy, relaxing cottage. Good location between chipping norton and burford, burford especially had a great walk to a pub called the ship. Booked dinner at the Hare (3 min walk away) on the Saturday night which I would highly recommend. If staying in winter pack some kindling for the wood burner.

Location

Car: necessary

Special interest holidays:

We are surrounded by places of interest including some beautiful gardens and National trust properties including Chastleton House and Hidcote Manor Garden. We are within easy accesss of historic Oxford, Cheltenham Spa and Cirencester. Each village has its own character and charm. Stow on the Wold and Moreton in the Marsh are very popular. Bampton village is also a favourite as some of Downton Abbey is filmed there.

Travel:

Heathrow airport is approx. 1hr and 30 mins

Birmingham airport is 1hr and 20 mins

Bristol airport is 1hr 44 mins.

Charlbury railway station (15 mins away) goes to London in 1hr 10 minutes.

Distances:

Within an hour of the cottage are Blenheim Palace, Oxford, Cirencester, Burford, Bourton on the Water, Cheltenham, Bicester Village, Woodstock and many more Cotswold gems. Many are considerably more local.

Further Details:

There is a very well stocked shop within a 3 minute walk of the cottage which has meat, vegetables fruit and is a small supermarket in itself. They carry a wide variety of papers magazines and alcohol and have a cash point inside. The village pub is about a 20 minute walk. There is also a post office and garage. The village green has a new children's play ground for younger ones and is a great place to kick a ball around for the older ones.

The Fish and Chip van visits on a Thursday night and is extremely good!
