A Beautiful Cottage in the Heart of the Cotswolds with a peaceful Rural Outlook

  • 5 of 5

We had recently, a fabulous holiday at Little White Cottage for 3 weeks. We absolutely love the property because it has been refurbished in a very attractive manner with all new kitchen, china, furniture, bedding and linen. It has a wonderful kingsize bed and a lovely bathroom with all modern fittings.I loved the pretty lights, especially in the lounge.

Little White Cottage is central to some amazing Cotswold town/village locations and there is a new pub in the village The Hare which has gorgeous surroundings and serves excellent meals.Returning at night to our very cosy cottage was like returning home with a very comfortable couch to relax on and a gas fired stove to cook yummy meals made from local produce.

There is a huge tennis court for those who enjoy tennis.

Most importantly the owners Charlotte and Steve are lovely people, friendly, warm and very helpful.

Delightful accommodation in a very convenient village from which to visit the Cotswolds.

  • 3 of 5

Milton under Wychwood is a very convenient little village from which to visit the Cotswolds. The Little White Cottage (LWC) is ideally located within easy walking distance from the Co-op and gastro pub, The Hare. Thankfully, it's not a village overrun by tourists but is ideal for tourists to visit the Cotswolds. Easy access to all the sights and lovely walks in the area. Good information provided by the owner who also introduced herself to us to ensure we had everything we needed. We would come back to stay again and will recommend this property to others.

Suggestions for improvement:

While the accommodation is very pleasant with good amenities, it is not "luxury".

The single bed mattress needs replacing.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying with us and so pleased that you said you would return for another visit. I was disappointed to hear about the mattress as we have not had any complaints in the past from any other guests regarding the comfort of them, in fact quite the reverse. They are good quality as I know how miserable cheaper ones can be!

Lovely little cottage with super responsive hosts!

  • 5 of 5

The LWC was perfect for our little family of 4 - kids are 7 & 4. The cottage was very well-maintained, clean and comfortable. Charlotte and Steve were very responsive when we had a light bulb go out in the kids' bedroom. They also have a ton of knowledge about local things to do and we thoroughly enjoyed using this as a base for our exploration of the Cotswolds. The town itself is not very touristy which made it nice for us to come back to - a quiet little haven. The kids also enjoyed using the tennis court though with all there is to see, we didn't use it as much as we would have liked.

Thanks Charlotte & Steve for a lovely stay!

Relaxing stay in well-equipped cottage.

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at the Little White Cottage for 2 nights and really enjoyed our stay.

The cottage was very well equipped with everything we could want for including a lovely modern kitchen. The log burner was a nice cosy touch.

Comfy beds, beautiful bathroom which was spotless.

Lots of info about places to visit in the area in a well put together folder.

Milton-under-Wychwood itself is a lovely little village and we had a great meal in the local pub, The Hare. Oxford was easily accessible by train.

Would highly recommend a stay at this property!

Location

From the Owner

We moved out of London about 6 years ago to have better quality of life with our family. We have not been disappointed! We love the local area and have become involved in many aspects of village life. It is far enough away from the crowds to have a peaceful recharge of the batteries yet easily accessible to places when we need a more urban fix! A trip to the cinema , shopping, museums etc are all within reach.

Activity and Interests

Car: necessary

Special interest holidays:

We are surrounded by places of interest including some beautiful gardens and National trust properties including Chastleton House and Hidcote Manor Garden. We are within easy accesss of historic Oxford, Cheltenham Spa and Cirencester. Each village has its own character and charm. Stow on the Wold and Moreton in the Marsh are very popular. Bampton village is also a favourite as some of Downton Abbey is filmed there.

Travel:

Heathrow airport is approx. 1hr and 30 mins

Birmingham airport is 1hr and 20 mins

Bristol airport is 1hr 44 mins.

Charlbury railway station (15 mins away) goes to London in 1hr 10 minutes.

Distances:

Within an hour of the cottage are Blenheim Palace, Oxford, Cirencester, Burford, Bourton on the Water, Cheltenham, Bicester Village, Woodstock and many more Cotswold gems. Many are considerably more local.

Further Details:

There is a very well stocked shop within a 3 minute walk of the cottage which has meat, vegetables fruit and is a small supermarket in itself. They carry a wide variety of papers magazines and alcohol and have a cash point inside. The village pub is about a 20 minute walk. There is also a post office and garage. The village green has a new children's play ground for younger ones and is a great place to kick a ball around for the older ones.

The Fish and Chip van visits on a Thursday night and is extremely good!

Facilities

From the Owner

We love the way it offers so many different experiences whether we want to go for a walk in the beautiful countryside, off road mountain biking or a visit to a country pub. We can also go shopping in Cheltenham, visit the theatre and Ashmoleum Museum in Oxford or catch the train to London for a day trip. We love how everything is so easy yet also so different. We can also have a game of tennis whenever the weather is fine... Summer or Winter and then sit by the log burner and recover! The cottage is extremely quiet and not overlooked and offers the perfect sanctuary or base to explore from.
