Welcoming, cosy and clean

  • 5 of 5

Very happy with our choice. Charlotte and Steve were wonderful hosts, welcoming and responsive. The cottage had a lovely cosy feel with a wood burner which was even better.

Within walking distance is The Hare pub which is high end (prices match) but the food was fantastic and a small co-op to buy supplies.

The wildlife reserve was a great day out for all. And we found enough entertainment to keep the whole family happy for 5 days.

We loved the Christmas decorations. Lovely touch.

I would not hesitate to recommend Little White Cottage to anyone.

Lovely weekend

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage, great living space, comfortable beds, etc

We ate at the local pub The Hare, where the food and service were excellent.

Local high street didn't have much so went to Chipping Norton for the afternoon, which was lovely.

Owner's Response: So glad you had a lovely time...... comfy beds are essential !! Chipping norton and Burford are both 10 minutes away and bigger than our village so better for a wander around. Glad you liked The Hare .... really good food and walking distance so a bonus. Thank you for staying with us and do come again. Charlotte

About Charlotte Kelly

Charlotte Kelly

Why Charlotte Kelly chose Milton-under-Wychwood

We moved out of London about 6 years ago to have better quality of life with our family. We have not been disappointed! We love the local area and have become involved in many aspects of village life. It is far enough away from the crowds to have a peaceful recharge of the batteries yet easily accessible to places when we need a more urban fix! A trip to the cinema , shopping, museums etc are all within reach.

What makes this cottage unique

We love the way it offers so many different experiences whether we want to go for a walk in the beautiful countryside, off road mountain biking or a visit to a country pub. We can also go shopping in Cheltenham, visit the theatre and Ashmoleum Museum in Oxford or catch the train to London for a day trip. We love how everything is so easy yet also so different.

We can also have a game of tennis whenever the weather is fine... Summer or Winter and then sit by the log burner and recover! The cottage is extremely quiet and not overlooked and offers the perfect sanctuary or base to explore from.

Location

Car: necessary

Special interest holidays:

We are surrounded by places of interest including some beautiful gardens and National trust properties including Chastleton House and Hidcote Manor Garden. We are within easy accesss of historic Oxford, Cheltenham Spa and Cirencester. Each village has its own character and charm. Stow on the Wold and Moreton in the Marsh are very popular. Bampton village is also a favourite as some of Downton Abbey is filmed there.

Travel:

Heathrow airport is approx. 1hr and 30 mins

Birmingham airport is 1hr and 20 mins

Bristol airport is 1hr 44 mins.

Charlbury railway station (15 mins away) goes to London in 1hr 10 minutes.

Distances:

Within an hour of the cottage are Blenheim Palace, Oxford, Cirencester, Burford, Bourton on the Water, Cheltenham, Bicester Village, Woodstock and many more Cotswold gems. Many are considerably more local.

Further Details:

There is a very well stocked shop within a 3 minute walk of the cottage which has meat, vegetables fruit and is a small supermarket in itself. They carry a wide variety of papers magazines and alcohol and have a cash point inside. The village pub is about a 20 minute walk. There is also a post office and garage. The village green has a new children's play ground for younger ones and is a great place to kick a ball around for the older ones.

The Fish and Chip van visits on a Thursday night and is extremely good!
