About Kim Harvey

We bought No 11 in 2004 as a little asbestos shack. We demolished it and put up the building as it is today. It has been constructed using the most energy efficient means and a specification that lifeboat houses use to combat the elements. Its old shack had history dating back to the second world war when it used to be the tea place for the home guard whilst guarding the shores.

Kim Harvey purchased this chalet in 2004

Why Kim Harvey chose Lyme Regis and West Dorset

We came across the auction details in the local press. We came to look at the site and were so taken with the area we decided to buy. The plot we picked felt best served to fit in the type of building we wanted to erect. We have stayed here in all weathers and it is as idyllic in each season. There is always so much to explore without even having to get the car out.

What makes this chalet unique

Its position to the Jurassic Coast I would say is the best benefit. The beach is never crowded so you can always guarantee plenty of space. The views of the surrounding countryside as well is amazing especially if you are into wildlife.

Guestbook comments from the owner

When we reached the chalet we seemed to immediately relax. We will return.

We arrived in the dark so did not see the beautiful surroundings of the sea and cliffs till morning. It is an idyllic place. We have walked for miles and experienced some truly lovely sights and food. Will not hesitate to come back.

Nice cottage, great location

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful! Lovely cottage, very close to sea. Calm area. Been there with two Kids (8 & 6 years), they loved the space and the walks down to beach and up the hills. Well equipped kitchen, modern bathroom, just perfect for relaxing days.

Only "negative" thing to mention (at least if you don't have dogs): There are more than just a few dogs at the beaches (and even in cottage, there is still some dog hair left from earlier guests...).

Owner's Response: I am so glad you had a great time and loved No 11 as much as we do. I am so sorry that you had some dog hairs in the chalet. We always endeavour to remove them all . I will make sure we are more vigilant in the future. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

Location Location Location!

We've been visiting Dorset for many years and always loved Eype. This little chalet was a fabulous find, a stones throw from the beach but on a peaceful private site. Spacious, spotlessly clean and well equipped. our only gripe was the shower, which was very feeble and the towels which were very small, ok for the men but a decent size bath sheet to wrap around a lady and cover all essentials after a shower would have been nice :-)

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely review. I am so glad you lovely our little No 11. I will address the issue with the shower. I am sorry you didn't call me at the time and I could have got it sorted for you. The issue of larger towels will be addressed . Thank you for pointing it out. Hope to welcome you back to No 11 in the future.

Beautiful place lovely chalet

  • 5 of 5

Me and my husband really enjoyed our stay in Eype. The chalet was clean and decorated nicely. It was a short walk along the costal path to either West Bay or Saltford. We would defiantly book again. Both our dogs really enjoyed it as well and we were not short of places to take them - most pubs allow dogs - very dog freidly place.

Comfortable, peaceful and well-equipped

  • 4 of 5

A three night stay as my birthday treat bought us to Eype once again. We come every year as its my favourite place and has been since I first came in 1983. Always makes us feel so relaxed being by the sea and those spectacular cliffs.

This was our first stay at No 11 and we were impressed with the decor and spaciousness. The only negative point was the feeble shower in the beautifully furnished bathroom.

First stop, a walk over Thorncombe Beacon to The Anchor pub then evening meal at The New Inn, Eype. Enjoyed some lovely walks from the door and drive over to Charmouth for a muddy ramble ending with a nice lunch in one of the towns charming tea shops.

Kim the owner was easy to contact to sort issue with towels and also kindly returned my jumper that I left in the wardrobe.

This haven of tranquility is becoming more and more popular thanks in part to Broadchurch and I hope I'm still coming here in another 30 years time!

Downe House out door cafe can be found either by walking across the hills or a few minute drive away. Cakes and scones their speciality.

This area is great for walkers and mountain bikers alike. You can go left to Portland, Chesil, Weymouth and to Poole beyond or go right to Lyme, Exeter and beyond. For Artists there is a wealth of amazing countryside and sea views to paint. For the Foodies there is seafood in abundance.
