About the Owner

David & Liz live for approximately 6 months of the year in the house adjacent to our Gite. The Gite was originally an annexe to the house and consisted of a small bathroom and bedroom. We have in 2013 extended the Annexe to form a Gite and we now have a living area of approx 30 sq. metres as well as a patio of 16 sq. metres with a plunge pool. We will continue to improve our property as we love this area so much that it seemed a shame for the then annexe to be unoccupied when it can be appreciated by others. We wanted to make sure the fixtures and fitting etc would ensure our guests will have a relaxing holiday and come to love the region as much as we do.

Having been here for 9 years we have accumulated a broad knowledge of the area which hopefully we can pass on to you.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This year we have asked our guests to name the 5 most memorable things about their stay in the Gite.

We had a great stay, the top points for us:

1. hangover free local wine, we liked the red which we bought from the cave in Ginestas

2. the locals were all very friendly

3. the gite is lovely, the little plunge pool is a great idea

4. the beach we drove to was called serignan. It was about a 40 minute drive. Towards beziers. It's a lovely wide beach with lots of sand and little else. Make sure to take water etc with you as there are no beach shops. Also be careful not to wander onto the nudist part by accident (unless you want to!).

5. there is loads to do in the area and driving was not a chore the roads are lovely and the scenery beautiful, once you get used to driving on the wrong side of the road that is!

Once again thank you. This evening we are in our own sitting room with wine and olives stretching out that holiday feeling for as long as possible.

Beth & Paul July 2014

1. It just has to be the Gite and that view.

2. The local hospitality and warm welcome we received

3. Walks along the canal du Midi and enjoying a coffee at Le Somail and Homps whilst watching the boats go by.

4. Driving and walking around the vilages - the information and recommendations you provided helped us enormously when planning our days out, shopping, restaurants etc.

5. Narbonne on market day.

if we can have a (6) then the wine cave and local red - it went down very well!! (and no hangover)

Paul & Linda July 2014

We were pleased we extended our stay because the last two days were lovely. As for the gite we thought it was very comfortable and provided all we needed for our stay. The views were fantastic. We particularly enjoyed our long walks through the vines down to the canal finding very good restaurants in either direction. Our two visits to L'Anais in the village, one for lunch (had the daily special to be recommended) and one dinner were impressive and friendly - walking distance again too! We took your advice and visited the local cave (twice) making purchases to bring home with us. As for using the car we most enjoyed Olonzac market, Minerve and Narbonne (market again). Visits from the veg fairy were appreciated! Best of all for us, we did not have to use the car on most days. We will certainly return when we can.

Beautiful setting and well maintained Gite

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time here, the views from the decking were stunning. The plunge pool is an excellent idea, perfect for cooling off in. The inside of the Gite was done to a high standard and was very comfortable. It was very peaceful and relaxing and in a great location for exploring the local area (by car). The owners were very welcoming and left us to our own devices. We especially liked the cheap and extremely drinkable local wine!

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your review, we are delighted you enjoyed your holiday and our Gîte. Please tell your friends and we hope to see you again next year. The wine harvest is the worst ever recorded due to the continued drought so our wine may be a little bit more expensive next year, but we will continue to maintain the high standard for the Gîte.

Excellent location and friendly owners

  • 5 of 5

The gite is very well located - you can either take a stroll in the village, or drive to Haut-Languedoc for hiking and other outdoors activities, or choose to visit one of the beautiful beaches for the day. Very friendly owners who live in the house nearby and can help and/or answer any questions if needed. Overall, we had a great stay!

Genistas gite

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable compact gite ideal for a couple. Wonderful views over the village and country beyond.

Restaurant and bar in village congenial, and food is good.

Interesting area, we were fully occupied for the week without going further than about 10 miles.

Ginestas is a very lovely place to stay.

The gite was very clean and modern, fully equipped and best of all quiet.

The view from outside on the decking was lovely and although there is a small road very near the property the outside area is private.

Internet access was difficult and for most of the time non existent but for some that would be bonus!

The town is within easy walking distance from the gite. It is a very friendly place with a good restaurant and wine bar again within easy walking distance.

The area has much to recommend it. Whether you are interested in wine, good food, history or swimming in the Med, it is all available.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for the nice review, the problem with the Internet was caused by a thunderstorm and power cut which made the router stay off. When there is no one in the house it cannot be reset. I am considering locating the router in a more accessible location so that guests can get access to it in the future. However when it is connected the bandwidth is upto 12mbits - 10 times better than my BT connection in Derbyshire!
