Good house, lovely area, great views

  • 5 of 5

We stayed as a party of 15 adults, 3 children and a baby and it worked very well including being able to congregate together in the large dining and living rooms. The listing description was accurate, the property was clean and well maintained. Helen was helpful in correspondence arranging the visit and also the hot tub. There are good walks in the area but as we were restricted by the mobility of two of the party we just visited Chepstow Castle and Symonds Yat, both good.

Fantastic house with first class views

  • 5 of 5

We hired Dorlands house and cottage for a hen weekend and it was perfect for our needs! All of the bedrooms were spacious and clean and really tastefully decorated. The lounge was huge with more than enough comfy sofas and chairs for everyone to sit together. The kitchen had all the mod cons you would need for a stay and was also tastefully decorated in a traditional but modern style. The crowning glory of this fabulous house has to be the views! Most of us who were attending the party are from Wales so we are lucky enough to be surrounded by beautiful scenery on a daily basis but I have to say that the views across the valley from Dorlands is one of the best Welsh views you will find! We also hired the hot tub which was great fun. Helen was always easy to get hold of and answered all of my (many!) questions promptly. She didn't meet us at the property when we arrived but left very clear instructions which we followed without a hitch. Nothing was too much trouble for Helen, she even kindly sent my iPhone charger back to me after I left it in my room! This house is excellent for a large family party or hen weekend. I hope to return one day! Thanks Helen!

Glorious!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week for our family celebration - over 20 of us for lunch on Easter Day (the younger ones were staying in the cottage). The house was spacious, fresh, well supplied with everything we needed. But what we loved most was the view over the Usk valley - in every kind of weather it was glorious, mist, sun, shadow, twilight - we will never forget it.

Great house

  • 4 of 5

We hired Dorlands house for a hen do. The house is great. Large dining area and living room. The only thing I would say that needs improving are the showers. If more than one person is using them they don't seem to cope. I was left with no water for a few minutes during my shower on more than one occasion. Apart from that though the house is fantastic

A warm and beautiful retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our party had a wonderful stay at Dorland's house. Helen the owner was very communicative and helpful in the booking process and provided a lovely welcome when we arrived. The house was stylishly decorated yet very comfortable and warm. It was equipped with everything we needed including DVDs for the kids when the rain came! It was spotlessly clean on our arrival and the views were stunning! I thoroughly recommend a stay and look forward to booking another visit!!

Fabulous retreat

  • 5 of 5

Just home from a superb weekend family break at Dorlands House. The place is delightful and easily accommodated our party of 14. Conveniently located for exploring a beautiful part of Wales. Helen is delightful and welcomed us warmly. I would definitely recommend this place and hope to have an opportunity to return for a future break.
