We had a 3 night stay at the end of October 2016. Astrid emailed comprehensive direction on how to find the cottage and key instructions; it was a lovely surprise to find the welcome cake and tea and coffee making facilities.
The location of the cottages are quite remote and without transport I would not advise this property . However, there is a nice walk that passes in front of the property and leads down to Cromer. Unfortunately we didn't have the time to try this.
Our only very minor niggle is that the weather had just turned and the cottage was a little too cold in the evenings- heating is controlled by the owners remotely and set at 21 degrees. However, additional heating is provided upon request, we just didn't ask for any.
All in all a very nice short break and provided a great base for us to explore the area.
I had a booked a Christmas break with some trepidation. Our party consisted of my 75 year old slightly opinionated mother my 11 year old daughter my two independent 21 and 24 year old adult offspring and my 2 border collies. I needn't have worried as Anvil Cottage was perfect for all our demands. My mother loved the delicious homemade cake that our lovely host had left for us along with tea coffee and milk and the overall cleanliness and toasty comfort of the cottage. My youngest loved the wifi and flatscreen. My eldest two appreciated the lush comfortable beds and huge leather sofas to chill out on. My dogs loved the enclosed yard and fields and walks for them to enjoy. I just loved the fact everyone else was happy and we thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas break and hope to return in the summer. W enjoyed our Christmas dinner at the Sea Marge in Overstrand and Boxing Day we ate at the Foundry in Northrepps.
Just returned from a week spent in Anvil Cottage. Very clean upon arrival, very well equipped and furnished to a higher spec than some holiday lets. The enclosed garden was a bonus as we took three dogs with us, thank you Paul for recommending Anvil rather than Stable Cottage, the fact that it had that gate ensured that our Grandson as well as the dogs remained safe. Lovely field for them to run on and lovely walk down Weavers Way to Cromer. Thank you to Astrid for the tea, coffee and delicious cake on our arrival. All in all a brilliant week, weather helped, however there is so much to do in the surrounding area that we feel that we would have filled our week even if the weather hadn't been in our favour. Would definitely return.
We booked Anvil Cottage for a week in February,we knew the east coast could be cold and it was.The cottage was ok but nothing to rave about, the floor was laminated wood and sounded noisy even with slippers on,in the bathroom it had started to lift because of people getting out of the shower wet, there was no proper bath mat and if you had to use it at night the creaking woke the others up.
The drive to the cottage from the road was just an unmade track and was full of water filled potholes which is a shame otherwise it would be a nice holiday home.
Ideal place if you take a dog as the front has a gate, and there is a nice field at the back ideal for the children as well.
