About Sardinella52

My husband and I are both very excited in welcoming you in our property. We have renovated this old townhouse to the best of our capabilities and we are sure that you will enjoy your stay with us. I am an Architect and have dedicated a lot of time and effort into this restoration venture. Ramon my husband works in insurance and has physically worked hard in the house.

We love travelling and meeting new people.

We will be pleased to always help you and recommend any places of interest, restaurants, etc.. and can offer our help in booking rental cars, transfers or tours.

The house was exactly as advertised. It is a 2 minute walk to the main square with shops and restaurants, 2 minutes to the maritime museum, forts, etc., and a 2 minute walk to the waterfront to catch a boat to Valletta or to stroll alongside the marina. Very convenient. You really don't need a car. But we did have a car and it was an easy day trip to M'dina and other arts of the island. Of the 3 cities Birgu is the best if you want to experience a real village where locals live and work. It is also the most quaint in my opinion. The owners have taken a lot of care in ensuring guests a clean, comfortable stay. They really went above and beyond for us, giving us great information, directions, a parking pass, a starter pack with wine, break, coffee, etc. Their hospitality was genuine and very much appreciated. I would highly recommend this place. Oh, and the roof top terrace has outstanding views!

Real Maltese Home

  • 5 of 5

We had 10 wonderful days here, perfect house, perfect location and perfect hosts. Ramon picked us up at airport and gave us a tour and some valuable pointers. Was everything it said on website and more.Views from the roof were spectacular, got some great photos. So much culture right on the doorstep, museums and the famous Fort St Angelo, lovely eating places, bus stop and ferry to Valletta within minutes from house and Tommy's shop right underneath house with great Maltese wines! The local people are very friendly and helpful. We would and have been recommending this fantastic home and Ramon and Karys are very thoughtful hosts. We really felt comfortable and at home, we will be back for another visit in the near future

Real Malta

  • 5 of 5

We have just spent a month in this beautiful Maltese house. It's interior has been modernised to a fantastic standard but it still retains its true character. The owners Ramon and Karys could not be more helpful, the house was spotless and well maintained. The area is a typical Maltese village, everyone friendly and helpful. I cannot speak more highly of this property and recommend it to anyone that wants a true Maltese experience.

Perfect Maltese house

  • 5 of 5

The house is lovely, just of the square of Ccospicua, one of the "3 cities" around the harbor. Access to shops (one next door) for supplies, and as an alternative you have the market every Tuesday.

The house is clearly loved by it's owners, and is to a very high standard, in fact we were so pleased with the house that we booked for next year before we left with Ramon.

It's a prefect Maltese style house which by using the ferry on harbor side (10 euros for 7 days unlimited trips) you get be at the bus terminal in Valletta in 15 mins

Drive you round the twist but sad to say bye bye!

If you want to get a proper view of Malta..live like the locals. This house is just off Victory Square seconds from the bus stop, cafes, shop etc. It is far from tourist Malta so you get to enjoy a proper insight into life.-yet a few mins across the water and you are in the heart of it all. The locals take to you rather quickly and after a few days it feels like you have always lived here. Hard for a 6 foot man to deal with the circular stairs but apart from that I loved village life and hope to head back there in the new year. The small room off the kitchen could do with a little tlc but bring your slippers and potter around just like home. No AC!! Extra on arrival...but I am not a lover of same so it really didn't matter. Any more relaxed after a holiday in Malta and I would be asleep. I loved every second of life in number 52 and in Malta

Vittoriosa is one of the Three Cities with various places of interest and historical places to visit including the Inquisitor's Palace, the Malta Maritime Museum, Couvre de Port, Auberge de France and several churches.

Plenty of activities are held during the year including the famous Feast of the Patron St. Lawrence held every year on the 10th August with the spectacular Notte di San Lorenzo on the eve of the Feast (fireworks from sea). The feast of St. Domenic is also held around the same period. The Birgu Fest is also very famous and held every October where one of the nights is Birgu by Candlelight, which is a magical night not to be missed.

Plenty of other activities during the year include concerts, shows, exhibitions, folk and cultural activities in the Square and along the waterfront. Processions and exhibitions are held during the Christmas, Lent and Easter period.

Both local banks and main Police Station may be found in Cospicua which is the neighbouring city. General stores, pharmacy, doctors' clinic, dentist, etc... may be found in the centre of the city. There is also a local taxi service centrally located.
