Amazing despite the rain

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic is all that is needed. The property is wonderful and Stephen is more than welcoming. Inside, everything is clean and it has a lovely cozy feeling, which is strange since actually the property is quite spacious.

Surrounding the property is lovely green fields, so, if you get some bad weather then you can just relax. Also, for children, there is many animals around to look at and in the surrounding areas there are lots of activities for all types of weather.

Returning for a holiday to the UK, I was looking forward to a pint at the local pub, but the hours are quite irregular. This means that there is not much within walking distance for food or drink. However, there is a town around 5 miles away which will cater to most peoples' needs.

Overall, it was a lovely experience, especially for my children who were seeing farm animals for the first time.

Beautiful contemporary cosy cottage

  • 5 of 5

We chose Turnip House for my husband and I and our 2 year old daughter. The photos online don't do the cottage or the surrounding area justice.

The cottage is beautifully refurbished, modern but with all the cosy charm.

The area is wonderfully tranquil and far enough away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to jump in the car and get to the local towns. Our daughter loved the chickens in the garden and sheep next door and the huge bath in the bedroom.

Steve was wonderful when we arrived and spent time with us to let us know what was close by and walks that would be suitable for us and our Daughter.

Thanks to Steve and Debbie for a wonderful holiday.

Owner's Response: Thanks to you Emma for a wonderful review, we work hard to keep standards high and helping with local knowledge is essential. Even more lambs in the field now, the snow has gone from the fell tops, moving towards summer................ Thanks again for such nice comments, hopefully see you all again soon. Steve & Debbie

Owner's Response: It was our pleasure and we'd love to see the three of you again! We try hard tyo keep standards high and help each visitor with regard to eating and tailor places to visit that matches their interests. However, most people just love to relax, walk locally and wander down to the pub for something to eat and a pint............... Thanks again for your kind words, see you again soon.

Beautiful cottage

  • 5 of 5

I took my family away for a long, relaxing weekend and this was the perfect place. The cottage is beautifully decorated and feels really homey. The surroundings are stunning and the owners were very friendly and helpful on arrival. We were able to bring the dog, which was an added bonus. We'll definitely be back!

Beautiful home.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Orchard. Thoughtfully planned accommodation. Very quiet location. Bathrooms upstairs have plenty of room and storage. Bedrooms comfortable and warm. We would highly recommend this cottage for those with a car as it is in a remote location. Appleby and Penrith are great for shopping and food. Great walks on your doorstep, across the moors, pets will love it! Owners are friendly and helpful.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your kind review of Orchard View, we opted for space rather than "squeezing visitors in", everyone comments on the showers and bathroom. Delighted you were warm and cosy in the depths of winter, I'm sure the log burner added to the atmosphere. Sadly we have no public transport in the village as the 'Friday bus' was stopped when the cuts started. It was our pleasure to have you and your family visit, hopefully we will see you again soon. Again, thanks for your kind comments.
