About the property

Mermaid Inn in Thorncliffe, Peak District, England

The Mermaid Inn is perfect for special occasions. Unlike many other venues that offer large group accommodation The Mermaid is a single residence that everyone stays in, and features a huge dining area with breathtaking panoramic views – perfect for getting your big group together. The impressive 17th Century Grade II Listed Coaching Inn has been refurbished to a very high standard and blends luxurious finishes with the historic character of 400 year old oak beams. The Mermaid has 13 tastefully decorated bedrooms, all of which are en suite. The most impressive feature for groups is 12 metre dining room, with views of The Roaches & beyond, that seats up to 34 around a single table. In addition there are no fewer than three adjacent lounge areas with a total of 8 leather sofas, 2 TVs, Karaoke, not to mention your very own bar (the old Pub) complete with pool table, table football, dart board, and Karaoke! Located in the Peak District National Park in an area of complete seclusion, and beauty.

About Peter mcmahon

Family run, we have 2 properties both based on the principles our guests love - everyone stays under 1 roof, eats around a single table, has their own bathroom, and has the benefit of stunning views from the property!

Guestbook comments from the manager

Dear Peter, what can I say - we had the most fantastic New Year; it truly was the best time we have all ever had. The property is spectacular. We all particularly thought the layout really suited us as a group and really enjoyed the different communal rooms. Everyone was delighted with their private rooms and commented on the quality and finish throughout. Having spoke with everyone during our stay we will definitely be returning and I am currently trying to sort things out for the New Year 2014 (as we noted that 2013 New Year is already showing as being booked up). Kind regards, Asa.

We all had a great time thank you and journey home was good. The place was brilliant, the best so far…. we've been hiring self catering houses over Christmas for 12 years now! Thank you for providing such a great place to celebrate Christmas (the bar area being particularly popular) and hope to see you again. Best regards, Tracey.
