About the Owner

We lived at Limekiln for sixteen years. We are based in the area and enjoy travelling around the uK and Europe. We stay at Limekiln when it is not in use to get together with family and friends and to carry out maintenance work. We enjoy the uniquely friendly local community and the village pub, The Sailors Return, where we catch up with local friends and acquaintances. The house is still a lived-in and loved home and not an empty shell like some holiday homes we have stayed at!

Magical Christmas at Limekiln House

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a wonderful family Christmas at Limekiln House and cannot recommend it highly enough. There were eleven of us ranging from almost 2 to 85 and every one of us had a lovely time.

The house is very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Each bedroom has its own ensuite and all the beds are so comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a huge Christmas dinner which we could serve up to all 11 of us in comfort in the lovely dining room.

Everything we could possibly need was there – even including a little sink with its own shower to wash two muddy little dogs in the utility room.

They, like us, loved the amazing walks right on our doorstep and they enjoyed a dip in the sea at Lulworth Cove on Christmas day. The gardens and surrounding fields are full of wild life. A little group of partridges visited the garden on most days coming right up to the house.

The Sailor’s Return is a lovely pub within walking distance. The food and ale were excellent and we were always made very welcome.

Trish and Rob who own Limekiln know how to make you feel at home - I wish it were our home. Thank you both of you for all the little extra touches like the lovely Christmas decorations and the welcome provisions.

As I said before this is a wonderful place for a family holiday and we highly recommend it.

Owner's Response: Thank you Carole for your glowing comments! Rob and I love being at Limekiln too and we're delighted that you all enjoyed your Christmas there. We added the hand shower last year especially for dogs and we're glad that it was useful to you. A big 'thank you' from us to you all for taking such good care of the house during your stay and best wishes to you and your family for a Happy New Year and a wonderful 2015. Kind regards Trish and Rob.

Fabulous Family Break

  • 5 of 5

Limekiln was wonderful, so quiet and peaceful. Well equipped with everything you need; particularly loved the outdoor area which has a large table and ample seating. We spent lots of time sitting outside in the sun as the nature came to us. Deer in the lower fields, buzzards overhead and a mass of small birds feeding in the garden. Very comfortable for all 9 adults that enjoyed our family get together. We also found the location very accessible to any of the beautiful places to visit on the Dorset coastline. We hope to return!

Limekiln House

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at Limekiln House. Everything you could have needed was there, and it adequately catered for the whole family. The listing description was very accurate, and the property was immaculately clean and well maintained.

The owner was excellent, with much information and maps about the surrounding area. The house is an excellent centre, with easy access to many places. As wer had young family with us, wer visited Monkey World which far exceeded our expectations.

In fact the whole place exceeded our expectations, and we would certainly recommend it to anyone. Very many thanks to all concerned.

From the Owner

We lived in Lulworth for fifteen years and found Limekiln by chance. We loved the location, atmosphere and outlook. A warm late summer day and there was a lady painter in a huge straw hat with an artist's easel on the lawn painting the view. Magic. The owner was a lovely lady called Petal Allen who had been an actress. As soon as we said we'd like to buy the house, she took it off the market on trust and said she wanted us to have it..We still love the outlook, the peace and quiet and the peaceful country walks to the coast and Lulworth Cove through the delightful grassy valleys.
