About Trish Foote

We lived at Limekiln for sixteen years. We are based in the area and enjoy travelling around the UK and Europe. We stay at Limekiln when it is not in use to get together with family and friends and to carry out maintenance work. We enjoy the uniquely friendly local community and the village pub, The Sailors Return, where we catch up with local friends and acquaintances. The house is still a lived-in and loved home and not an empty shell like some holiday homes we have stayed at!

Trish Foote purchased this house in 1999

Why Trish Foote chose Dorchester

We lived in Lulworth for fifteen years and found Limekiln by chance. We loved the location, atmosphere and outlook. A warm late summer day and there was a lady painter in a huge straw hat with an artist's easel on the lawn painting the view. Magic. The owner was a lovely lady called Petal Allen who had been an actress in the 30's.. As soon as we said we'd like to buy the house, she took it off the market on trust and said she wanted us to have it..We still love the outlook, the peace and quiet and the peaceful country walks to the coast and Lulworth Cove through the delightful grassy valleys.

What makes this house unique

Direct access to the countryside and coast, the absence of traffic and neighbours, the peace and quiet, make Limekiln House quite unique in this busy seasonal tourist area. The location offers easy access to all of Dorset from the A354 and locally to Lulworth Cove, the Tank Museum, Monkey World, the Purbecks and Hardy's Dorset.

Ideally placed for day trips to Bournemouth, Poole, Swanage, Weymouth, Dorchester, Portland, Abbotsbury Swannery and Lyme Regis.

There is a tuned upright piano in the sitting-room.. The garden is securely enclosed except on the top edge which is a thick bramble patch. Deer (stags) frequent the adjacent bramble field and occasionally venture into the garden along with badgers, rabbits and a large variety of birds..

Great secluded property for a large family group

  • 5 of 5

This gem is tucked away - the Tesco delivery man had to be met in the village - but wow, what a great house. The house itself is comfortable, very well equipped and has a fantastic kitchen for cooking for 11 of us. There's a large dining room, big lounge in 2 parts so some could watch movies whilst others sat & chatted/played cards. The bedrooms are very comfortable and mostly with en-suites. The "grounds" (garden seems inadequate a description) are charming. It is also very well located for exploring the coast - you can even walk up the lane to the coast path towards Lulworth Cove & Durdle Door. We were lucky to spot a short-eared owl hunting on the hillside.

All in all a fine choice for a larger group, with enough space not to feel crammed in on top of each other. As for eating out .. highly recommend strolling into the village to the Sailor's Return which was everything a good pub should be.

Thank you to Rob and Trish for a brilliant celebration weekend.

Lovely holiday home

  • 5 of 5

Limekiln House is in an idyllic setting, with far reaching views. There were 6 adults and 3 young children in our party and everyone was well catered for. The welcome pack Trish left was very helpful and Trish and Rob were extremely helpful and accommodating both through the booking process and throughout the week if we needed them, thanks very much.

The house is very well equipped for a large party, especially every room having its own bathroom. The garden were well maintained and the children all enjoyed playing football on the top lawn and running down the slopes to the orchard and how lovely for them to pick their own plums. We would highly recommend the property to anyone. Thank you again Trish and Rob.

Home from home

  • 5 of 5

Perfect for a relaxing family holiday . We were 4 generations and somewhere for everyone to feel at home. Well equipped and comfortable. Catered for children with lots of space to run around and explore. With Lulworth cove a short drive away a must visit. Weymouth and Dorchester quite close. We visited Monkey world and the Tank museum which had a lovely soft play for our 2 year old. Loads of good pub restaurants including the red lion and the Bernie inn and the smugglers inn. We'll be back again.

Perfect location for exploring Dorset

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in house over the May bank holiday with some relatives from America it was the perfect choice there were nine of us and the rooms worked out ideal we all of had our own bathroom and privacy. The kitchen and lounge are both sizeable and ideal if you stay as a large family or group. We got a delivery from Sainsburys and stayed in one night for dinner as the kitchen was fully equipped and we were really comfortable in the house. The Sailors Arms is a short walk away and offer some good food. The weather for us wasn't great so we could not make use of the garden or surrounding fields but on good days this would be fantastic. I would recommend this house to anybody large family or group it has everything we will return.

Family child pet friendly wonderful home with stunning views could not ask for more..

  • 5 of 5

On arrival to the spectacular views and Gardens we had a lovely pack of essentials left by Trish and Rob. The house is a home from home with everything and more you could ask for. It catered for ALL of us my 2 year old Child loved the garden and the massive bath and played his first piano! Ted My dog is shattered from exploring the massive grounds and the bird watching and there was even a picture of him on the wall!. The 10 of us adults laughed, ate and played games around the beautiful large dinning table, and cooked in the fab kitchen with enough equipment to have for whatever you were cooking! The house is organised and clean and tidy. There was music and books or DVDs for us all together or for us individually as we could retire to our rooms. All rooms were all a great size with our own bathrooms very handy in large groups. After Full days of Monkey World/a swim around Durdledoor/Lulworth Cove (lush food in the Inn) Swanage, we also enjoyed a walk to the sailor Inn for a a pint before retiring to a very comfortable Quirky home. I would highly recommend to others and I will miss the birds/Peace and stunning views... and the stargazing last night was incredible! Thank you Rob and Trish for all info during our stay and all the little touches.. if you have us.. we will be back Thank you x

Owner's Response: Thank you Amanda for such a lovely review and for leaving the house in such good order! We're at Limekiln for a couple of weeks, the garden is a blaze of daffodils and primroses. Rob is busy mowing, strimming and tidying the garden. We''d be delighted if you decided to make a return visit, so perhaps we'll hear from you again in the not-too-distant future! Best wishes from Trish and Rob.

We arrived on Sunday and we found a nice welcome pack in the very spacious kitchen (coffee, tea, milk, eggs,bread,....). The house had everything available we needed to cook, do our washing etc.

The rooms were very comfortable and all had a private bathroom.

The location was amazing not far from the beach and with very beautiful views from the house of typical English country side!

We very much enjoyed our stay!
