About Mrs D. M. Lacroix-Kettlewell

I came to Scarborough from Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands in 1979 because I felt that it was a beautiful environment to explore and enjoy, especially for a family. We had holidayed here for some years before and were thoroughly at home with the beach, Dalby Forest and The Wolds. Scarborough people are very friendly and helpful and made us feel at home instantly. With my career as a Beauty and Complementary Therapist I made a lot of friends very quickly. My husband, David, is originally from Middlesbrough, went to Wolverhampton College to study photography, lived for some time in High Wycombe but came to Scarborough for all the same reasons. He retired last year from the local daily newspaper to enjoy his photography and freelance at leisure. Scarborough is the perfect place to do it.

Mrs D. M. Lacroix-Kettlewell purchased this apartment in 1996

Why Mrs D. M. Lacroix-Kettlewell chose Yorkshire Moors and Coast

This is a beautiful, spacious Victorian property in an amazing conservation area. There are lots of walking areas and glorious scenery to explore. The area is ideal for holidays by the sea and also for woodland walks, just great for families and couples alike. But what makes it perfect I think is the complete array of local shops just one minute walk away making it self-sufficient for everyone's needs.

Scarborough town centre and the beach are also only 3-5 minutes away along with the many areas for walks and well-tended parks in South Cliff. Perfect if you only want a short walk and view. It is on the main bus route to Filey and the Wolds and close to the A64 so you can explore the surrounding areas from Whitby to Pickering and York to Bridlington,... an ideal location for holidays.

What makes this apartment unique

Ideally situated close to the sea, the train station and town centre , the apartment is 1 minute walk away from the local shops at Ramshill. This comprises 2 mini supermarkets, Sainsburys local, post office, newsagent, bakers, home-made chocolate shop, launderette, local pub, Lupin cafe, all day breakfast and lunch cafe, 2 pizza shops, superb fish and chip shop, hairdressers, Tuscany Two restaurant, Bacchus nightclub, Tea Rooms and The Complementary Therapy & Beauty Centre. Everything is on hand should you wish to have a quiet time or explore the entire holiday experience. Also exclusive to all our guests is access to the Complementary Therapy & Beauty Centre. This includes special offers, 1/2 price pamper afternoons, mini treatments and free trials on the inch loss machines.

The flat was amazing, it had all the amenities that you would need. The bedrooms were very spacious with en-suites, which was a god send as it meant no queuing for the bathroom in a morning. It was a 10 minute walk into the town centre and to the beach.

Would recommend anyone to stay here as Denise was very welcoming and was just on the end of the phone if we needed anything. Thank you Denise for a fantastic holiday. Will be coming back

Owner's Response: I am so pleased you have enjoyed your holiday with us and hope that you have managed to see some of the surrounding areas as well as Scarborough itself. There is so much to see and do here as well as the beach and freshly planted parks for walking and just chilling out. The Spa and Stephen Joseph theatre provide a variety of entertainment to suit all. Likewise the the newly built Alpamare waterpark is amazing and makes this sun and sea town a truly exciting place for families to visit both for a week or two or a long weekend. Looking forward to seeing you again too!

Great apartment

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with our friends and Granchildren aged 10 and 8 and had a fabulous Week.

The apartment is large with high ceilings with two huge bedrooms and one smaller room( which the girls slept in with no problem)

In our opinion the location was perfect for town( 6mins) and the beach about the same if you took the lift.

The owners were always available to sort out any problems( we had none) and parking ,and also little things like taking away our empty wine bottles(thankyou Denise and Hubby).

We would not hesitate in recommending this apartment, and Anja and Belle cannot wait to return next Year.

Lovely family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from our second visit to Denise and David's ground floor apartment. Again, like last year we had a fabulous week. It is a smashing apartment and suits us, as a family, perfectly. It is spacious and clean and we love relaxing each night after long days out and about around Scarborough in the warm comfortable lounge. Our dogs thoroughly enjoy their holiday too. Denise is always on hand if there are any problems. The location is excellent, we particularly like the Ramshill Road area of Scarborough as there are shops on the doorstep and a nice 10 minute walk into town. It is a brilliant area for walking dogs as there are many paths leading from the Esplanade which you can explore whilst making your way down to the beach and Spa area. I recommended this apartment to friends of ours and they loved it too.

Owner's Response: Hi Angela, It has been great to meet you and George, and your family again and good to talk to you recently too. Thank you for taking the time to post your review. I know you are a very busy family, and all the more reason for a 'Chill-out Family'' holiday in a spacious apartment with all the conveniences like local shops to hand and the beach, town centre so close.. So it's wonderful that you're coming again next year. (The THIRD YEAR! So we are looking forward to meeting you next year and your special 'returning visitor' discount is in place., the chocolates or flowers and wine will be waiting for you! Lovely flat, perfectly placed for us.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in the ground floor flat for a week at the start of the Scottish school holidays - four adults and two children aged 7 and 11. The flat was large and comfortable, with 3 bedrooms, each with a toilet - very practical - a shower, and a bath. The kids were kept very happy with the wi-fi, and the adults enjoyed the DVD player and large table perfect for a massive jigsaw. We found the beds comfortable and the kitchen had a dishwasher and washing machine; a tumble dryer was just off one of the bedrooms. We didn't do much cooking, since there are various take-away places round about - we can recommend the fish and chips - and a Sainsbury's local round the corner for the occasional microwave meal or pizza at night. We were lucky enough to have great weather the whole week, so spent a lot of time on the beach.

We particularly enjoyed the area, and bought a weekly pass for the cliff lift so could zip up and down as often as we wanted, usually stopping for a G&T at the seafront before coming home in the evening. We also found a wee tea shop (Francis Tea Rooms) not far away; the tea and cakes were lovely and the kids were charmed to get a goodie bag to take away. The whole place suited us down to the ground and we hope to book it again. Thanks to Denise who keeps the place so nice and supplies the parking permits. Great.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write the review. We really do appreciate the feedback and are constantly improving the facilities to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. We like to think of it as a home from home and have included a hint of luxury and a lot of relaxation for your long-awaited holiday. The shops, parks and beach are so convenient to the apartment and there is a Complementary Salon / Spa opposite with special rates for our guests who love to enjoy a pamper treatment or even a good old-fashioned back, neck and shoulder massage. . It was great meeting Anne, Fred, Sophie, Patricia and Jane & Holly who made the week for us. A perfect family and friends group who made the most of their holiday and the area. We do take dogs and pride ourselves that there is no reduction in standard since we also like to enjoy a high standard accommodation when we holiday with our dog.. It is always a pleasure to meet our guests but thank you again for helping us to enjoy it so much. Kind Regards Denise

Spacious and clean apartment.

  • 3 of 5

Met by owner on arrival. Very friendly, informative and helpful throughout our week stay. We were a family of mother, 2x children and Grandma. We had a lovely week. Based conveniently to local shops, the town centre, beach and attractions. Parking was never an issue. Apartment itself was comfortable for our needs. No issues with hot water, TV, washing machine, oven, hob etc etc. Overall, a lovely stay.
