Overview

About the property

Tranquility amidst Edinburgh's Georgian splendour - lovely five-minute walk to all amenitie

You'll be in Edinburgh's most splendid Georgian location amidst this UNESCO World Heritage site. Here the grand façade is arranged around a lavish circular garden, with restricted road access affording it a surreal sense of calm and silence - perhaps best appreciated after dark under the New Town's atmospheric white street lights.

Despite the peace, bohemian Stockbridge is a delightful 5 minute walk along cobbled streets, whilst George Street's high-end shops and venues are similarly close by to the south.

Accessed via a private gate down a short stone staircase, the front door can be found opening onto a sunny but sheltered courtyard which is a magical spot for al-fresco breakfasting or evening drinks. Once inside the open-plan layout is clean, comfortable and fully-equipped for your stay, with enough period features (high skirting boards and working shutters) to remind you where you are.

Notes:
Edinburgh's peerless New Town leaves an unique impression on visitors. Restraint & understatement characterise what is a magical place to spend time. This - together with the good relationship we have with our excellent friendly neighbours - means it's never going to be a party pad, so it won't be for everyone. Respect that view and you'll find an endearing home-from-home which will get under your skin, where your enjoyment is our first priority and to which we feel sure you'll want to return. Do get in touch for a friendly response to any questions you might have, and if you decide it's for you we wish you a good time and wonderful memories. And haste ye back!

Very comfortable and great location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a week in November, excellent arrival instructions got us in, the apartment is beautifully decorated and is cosy and warm. Everything you need is provided along with a few extra provisions from the owners to greet you. The apartment is perfectly located for the city of Edinburgh and also for Stockbridge. There are many local shops and restaurants within 10mins walk. Excellent transport services. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return. Recommended.

Roomy. All the amenities. Gracious hosts

  • 5 of 5

Sometimes its the little things that make all the difference. After a long long trip from the states we were greeted to a bottle of wine and snacks waiting for us at the apartment. We just loved it. A short but hilly walk to the buses restaurants and pubs. It took us a little while to get our bearings but once we did we discovered all kinds of gems nearby. The apartment was very comfortable and roomy. Exceeded all my expectations

A beautiful and quiet neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in many apartments during our travels and this one ranks among the very best. From the amenities ( including a bottle of wine and even laundry detergent for the convenient washer/ dryer), charming renovations in a beautiful building and to a perfect location. We did not have a car and didn’t need one, including easy bus access to and from the airport. The owners were easy to communicate with.

I would highly recommend this apartment. The only words of wisdom to add if you have not been to Edinburgh, it has many hills. So to and from Stockbridge or city center there is always a hill! So be prepared.

Perfect for a week or weekend in Edinburgh!

  • 5 of 5

Very lovely flat with caring and thoughtful owners! We spent 5 nights and walked everywhere. The neighbourhood is very nice and quiet and the flat is warm & cozy. After arriving late in the evening due to the delayed arrival of our luggage, it was wonderful to see Martin & Weng had supplied some delicious breakfast items, bottle of wine and chocolate! So we were all set. We rented a car for two days and had no issue with on-street parking just outside the flat. We hope to return soon. Thanks for a great holiday!

Cosmopolitan and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

This stylish flat was perfectly suited to our long weekend in Edinburgh, cosmopolitan and comfortable at the same time. We walked everywhere — Stockbridge, the Royal Mile, Princes Street Gardens, to the castle, Arthur's Seat and the train station. Too many great restaurants in the area for our short stay! But then, we cooked at home, too, in the wonderful kitchen. Absolutely delightful place with a comfortable bed and sparkling bathroom, and the owners left clear and simple instructions before, during and after our stay. One of the nicest places we've ever stayed.

Exquisite Edinburgh Flat

  • 5 of 5

Martin and Weng are truly fabulous hosts. They were responsive to our questions and requests; it never felt like we were bothering them, which made for a peaceful holiday. Their home is located in a hip neighborhood that is in easy walking distance to all the city has to offer. The best part of their home is the quiet and serenity when you are ready to call it a day. We cannot wait to return; this is the home away from home that makes vacation so special. Thank you, Martin and Weng!

Location

Nearest Airport
9 Miles
Edinburgh Airport
Nearest Train
1 Miles
Waverley Station
Car: not necessary

The East Lothian coast with its myriad beach walks, links courses and pretty coastal towns can be reached quickly by car or train, as can the East Neuk of Fife with a string of charming fishing villages.

Edinburgh Airport has multiple flights per day to London and European destinations. The airport is easily reached by a cheap and regular bus or tram which stops minutes from the flat. The flat is also handy for both of Edinburgh's mainline rail stations which serve the entire UK comprehensively.

Car use isn't required in Edinburgh since everywhere is walkable, but drivers will find restricted paid parking right outside the front door, or longer-term parking in one of the city's main car parks.

Those wishing to explore further afield will find Glasgow, Stirling, Perth and St Andrews within easy reach by car or public transport, with the majestic highlands and the rural Scottish Borders quite feasible for day trips.
