About the property

Tranquility amidst Edinburgh's Georgian splendour - lovely five-minute walk to all amenitie

You'll be in Edinburgh's most splendid Georgian location amidst this UNESCO World Heritage site. Here the grand façade is arranged around a lavish circular garden, with restricted road access affording it a surreal sense of calm and silence - perhaps best appreciated after dark under the New Town's atmospheric white street lights.

Despite the peace, bohemian Stockbridge is a delightful 5 minute walk along cobbled streets, whilst George Street's high-end shops and venues are similarly close by to the south.

Accessed via a private gate down a short stone staircase, the front door can be found opening onto a sunny but sheltered courtyard which is a magical spot for al-fresco breakfasting or evening drinks. Once inside the open-plan layout is clean, comfortable and fully-equipped for your stay, with enough period features (high skirting boards and working shutters) to remind you where you are.

Edinburgh's peerless New Town leaves an unique impression on visitors. Restraint & understatement characterise what is a magical place to spend time. This - together with the good relationship we have with our excellent friendly neighbours - means it's never going to be a party pad, so it won't be for everyone. Respect that view and you'll find an endearing home-from-home which will get under your skin, where your enjoyment is our first priority and to which we feel sure you'll want to return. Do get in touch for a friendly response to any questions you might have, and if you decide it's for you we wish you a good time and wonderful memories. And haste ye back!

A Fabulous Stay!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a week in Weng and Martin's apartment. The apartment is incredible...tastefully furnished, spotlessly clean, and extremely comfortable. We always looked forward to coming back to the apartment at the end of a long day, opening a bottle of wine, and relaxing. We cooked our meals most every night in the very well-equipped kitchen. Thrilled to have been provided with a steamer as we steamed mussels for dinner on a couple of occasions. Stockbridge is about a 5 minute walk, and the village has a wonderful butcher, a terrific fishmonger, and an outstanding cheese shop...I J Mellis. The bed was so very comfortable. We always had a great night's sleep, and we awoke feeling refreshed and energized. The bathroom was large with a walk-in shower, plenty of hot water and great water pressure. The location was perfect. In an extremely quiet neighborhood away from the hustle, bustle and noise of tourist central. The apartment is convenient to all the sights, and we walked everywhere. Weng and Martin were gracious, and responded to my emails promptly. Checking in was a breeze. I hope you are as lucky as we were to be able to rent this brilliant apartment during your stay in Edinburgh. Thank you Weng and Martin. Mike and Susan (Dallas, Texas)

The best address, the best flat, the best stay ever...

  • 5 of 5

What a discovery and what a place!  Right at the heart of Edinburgh's smartest neighbourhood this spacious flat wants for nothing.  And despite being at the heart of everything it's whisper quiet, with the best bed ever.  The kitchen is better equipped than our own at home, the bathroom is luxurious with a huge and powerful rain shower, and the main accommodation is just so thoughtfully done and smartly furnished.  Two blocks one way takes you to Stockbridge with its village vibe and two blocks the other to upscale George Street, it couldn't be better placed to walk everywhere.

We met the hosts on arrival, whose knowledge of Edinburgh was encyclopaedic and who simply could not have done more to welcome us and ensure our happiness, at every stage from booking to leaving.  Exceptional in every way - we're already working out how and when to return.

A Perfect Christmas.

  • 5 of 5

We booked Weng & Martin's apartment for Christmas and it was perfect. Cosy, comfortable and impeccably furnished. They were incredibly helpful in the lead up to our stay, making sure we had everything we needed to cook and serve Christmas dinner. And best of all, when we arrived there was a beautifully decorated Christmas Tree. We will definitely return,

Beautifully designed apartment in central location

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is lovely - though small, it has everything you need and the decor and equipment are all high quality. Despite being ‘below stairs’ the flat is light and it was really cosy on a bitterly cold weekend. The owners had kindly provided provisions which meant we didn’t have to bother about shopping for breakfast when we arrived. They communicated extremely well and were very thoughtful.

The location is excellent as the immediate vicinity, in a stunning ‘circus’, is quiet but a 10 minute walk takes you to Princes Street. The Christmas market was really good though busy at the weekend - I recommend going on Friday morning when it is nice and quiet.

We enjoyed eating at Scran and Scallie in Stockbridge and at New Chapter which was a bit of a walk away but worth the effort.

The only minor downside is the constant hum from the adjacent substation which can be a bit of a problem for sleeping - don’t forget your ear plugs.

Very comfortable and great location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a week in November, excellent arrival instructions got us in, the apartment is beautifully decorated and is cosy and warm. Everything you need is provided along with a few extra provisions from the owners to greet you. The apartment is perfectly located for the city of Edinburgh and also for Stockbridge. There are many local shops and restaurants within 10mins walk. Excellent transport services. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return. Recommended.

Roomy. All the amenities. Gracious hosts

  • 5 of 5

Sometimes its the little things that make all the difference. After a long long trip from the states we were greeted to a bottle of wine and snacks waiting for us at the apartment. We just loved it. A short but hilly walk to the buses restaurants and pubs. It took us a little while to get our bearings but once we did we discovered all kinds of gems nearby. The apartment was very comfortable and roomy. Exceeded all my expectations

Car: not necessary

The East Lothian coast with its myriad beach walks, links courses and pretty coastal towns can be reached quickly by car or train, as can the East Neuk of Fife with a string of charming fishing villages.

Edinburgh Airport has multiple flights per day to London and European destinations. The airport is easily reached by a cheap and regular bus or tram which stops minutes from the flat. The flat is also handy for both of Edinburgh's mainline rail stations which serve the entire UK comprehensively.

Car use isn't required in Edinburgh since everywhere is walkable, but drivers will find restricted paid parking right outside the front door, or longer-term parking in one of the city's main car parks.

Those wishing to explore further afield will find Glasgow, Stirling, Perth and St Andrews within easy reach by car or public transport, with the majestic highlands and the rural Scottish Borders quite feasible for day trips.
