Holiday Cottages in Melrose, Scotland

The cottages are part of a converted Georgian farm steading called the Eildon Holiday Cottages. They are surrounded by open gardens with stunning views over Melrose and the Tweed valley. There are charcoal BBQs for guest use together with picnic tables and even an open barn in case you need shelter from the Scottish sun! We are in an ideal central location for touring the Scottish Borders with its rich history and varied array of outdoor pursuits and cultural attractions. We are also within an hours drive (or train ride) of Edinburgh and the Northumberland coastline.

A charming 2 bedroom converted barn. All on the ground floor there is an entrance hall that leads into an open plan kitchen / dining / sitting room with original exposed stone walls. Bedroom 1 can be made up with a super-king double bed or two single beds. Bedroom 2 has a single bed with an additional full size single pull out bed which can be used for a 4th guest. Please note that when the pull out bed is in use there is limited space around the beds. The cottage enjoys fabulous views over Melrose and the Tweed valley beyond. The cottage has a parking space directly outside the front door and is surrounded by beautiful open gardens which guests are free to use. There is a biomass central heating system with controls in the cottage to keep it cosy throughout the year. There is a dishwasher, flat screen tv with dvd player and fully equiped kitchen. Bed linen and towels are provided. There is a washing machine, tumble drier and chest freezer in the shared laundry room on site.

There are great opportunities in the area for walking, fishing and mountain biking.

We are situated half a mile away from the river Tweed with its world class salmon and trout/grayling fishing.

There are two of the UKs best maountain biking centres in our valley at Glentress and Innerleithen. Bike hire is available at the sites and the downhill and x-country routes are graded in terms of difficulty.

There are some great walking tracks in this part of Scotland and the St Cuthberts Way passes the cottages 150 yards to the west. With a general right to roam through the countryside in Scotland this is a hiker's and dog walker's paradise!

Historic Buildings - The borders has its fair share of castles and stately homes, many of which are open to the public. Abbotsford House, the former home of Sir Walter Scott is just 3 miles away and definately worth a visit.


The splendid east coast with its beautiful sandy beaches are approx 35 miles away. St Abbs is renowned as one of the best cold water dive sites in the world. Boats trips are recommended to watch many species including seals, dolphins, porpoises, and puffins.


Edinburgh airport is about an hours drive away. Newcastle airport is about 1.5 hours drive away.


Melrose is about half a mile away with all shops and services. Galashiels is about 5 miles away which is a larger town with 24 hour supermarkets etc.
