About the Owner

I was born and brought up in the beautiful Edale valley, and have wonderful childhood memories of skiing back home from the tiny village school after deep snows in Winter, making dens out of hay bales in Summer and tickling trout for breakfast from the local stream - whilst avoiding the river warden!!! My parents, grandparents and great grandmother all lived in Edale and after I moved away to University and then down to London for work I knew it was a place I'd always return to. When my grandparents died, about 10 years ago, I was in a position to buy their house, which is Belmont. In recent years I've completely renovated the property and now offer the house to groups who can come and enjoy the amazing scenery and surroundings of Edale where I was brought up.

Great property, very cosy, ideal location.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a long weekend here, 13 of us in total plus one baby. The house is great, really cosy and worked for everything from a murder mystery, boardgames and keeping an eye on a nine-month old! Proper fires which are well stocked, massive grill for cooked breakfasts and it was very helpful having so many bathrooms!

It's perfect for walks on the Peaks and the Old Nags Head up the road is worth a visit.

Lovely, comfortable stay

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful property - I stayed with 14 school friends and it was everything we wanted! Lots of space, so many wine glasses, plenty of space to cook, relax, eat. Gorgeous rooms with a TV in each of them. Amazing location right beside the Pennine Way. I love the feeling of family history associated with the house.

Clean and Classy in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the property with 15 other ladies for a hen weekend where we used the house as a base to walk Kinder Scout. It was the perfect location and we could see Kinder Scout from the back garden. The house is beautiful, clean, tidy, classy and has everything you would need for a large group. There were plenty of bedrooms with sufficient bathrooms to accommodate everyone. Morgan welcomed us to the house with a huge smile and huge chocolate cake and offers of help if we needed it. We didn't need to visit the local pubs as we brought enough food and drink to entertain us all weekend. We went to the Pemny Pot cafe down the road for breakfast, which was fabulous and set us up for our walk. Whilst in the house There was plenty of room for us all to spread out and not be on top of each other. A wonderful property in a superb location which provided the perfect setting for a whole bunch of happy memories with a group of 40 something ladies. Thank you so much Morgan!

Fantastic accommodation for large groups

  • 5 of 5

In early April 16 of us (7 adults and 9 kids) stayed in Belmont house in the beautiful High Peaks and enjoyed the fantastic location as much as the stylish comfort of Belmont House itself. I can’t praise this property and it’s owner highly enough. Morgan and his wife have thought of everything when kitting out the house with large groups and walkers in mind. Everything was of a very good standard, spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished. We found everything we needed (and more) in the kitchen to make catering for large groups a doddle and Julie in the village catered one meal for us at a very reasonable price - two huge pies which were utterly delicious. Thanks Julie!

When not being forced up a hillside for a stunning walk, the children, who ranged from 6-16 found plenty of entertainment inside the house with a fantastic selection of board games and DVDs on offer.

We had fun visiting the friendly local pubs and the braver ones amongst us tried out the exciting/terrifying rope swing over the stream, opposite the house. The visitors centre in the village gave us excellent advice about local walks and there’s a good range of maps and walking info at the house itself. One of the many, well thought out details of the house was the placement of a radiator under a coat rail which meant not only did wet clobber dry but it was lovely and toasty to put on the next morning. We found the whole house to be warm and cosy and how lovely to have a supply of logs in the garden for lighting the wood burners if needed.

Finding good, affordable accommodation for large groups isn’t easy - I did hours of research before plumping for Belmont House - and you never really know what you’re going to find until you arrive but our expectations were exceeded - we found a gem - and had a really brilliant holiday.

Thank you.

Beautiful property - perfect for big groups

  • 5 of 5

Stayed with a group of 14 girls for a hen do, and what a find! - this property is absolutely stunning and worked perfectly. There is a great feeling of space within the house, and both the lounge and kitchen have fabulous wood/coal fires - very cosy. Super close to lovely walking routes, and only 5 mins walk from Edale train station. Morgan was helpful and professional throughout the booking process and went out of his way to make this a great stay - thank you! Highly recommended, and hoping we get a chance to visit again one day.
