Whitby is ideally situated for exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire with its superb coastline and, inland, the spectacular North York Moors. Whitby is a charming and atmospheric town of winding streets and hidden alleys, with a picturesque harbour, fascinating shops, safe sandy beaches and, of course, the Abbey, reached by the famous 199 steps. The Anchorage is a spacious four bedroom, Grade 2 listed Georgian house situated in the heart of Whitby, within a few minutes walk of the harbour, shops and beaches. It has been furnished and equipped to a high standard, retaining many original features such as panelling and beamed ceilings.

This house has been our holiday home for the past 15 years. Whitby is a truly unique town which seems to defy the pace of change in the world today.

Why Terry Narey chose Whitby

We bought this house after renting it for a week. We loved the space and the homely atmosphere. And of course Whitby is a truly fascinating place.

What makes this house unique

This is great house for larger parties or two families with plenty of space to spread out, and unlike many Whitby properties it has separate lounge dining room and kitchen and normal stairs.

Quirky house and conveniently situated

House was warm, comfortable and well equipped. We were there for an event at the Pavilion so it was in an excellent location. We were able to unload our cars outside and park nearby.

Booking Notes:
If you want to make a booking, a booking form will be forwarded for completion. A deposit of £200 is required with the balance paid 4 weeks before the holiday start date. Minimum stay 3 nights.

Changeover Day:
Holidays are normally Saturday to Saturday. The house is available from 4pm on the start date and the house needs to be vacated at 10pm on departure day.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
