Alps Apartment very conveniently situated - Wonderful views, Walking distance To The Telecabine (8 mins) or bus, 2 minutes from town square

Situated in the beautiful, award winning (Coq D'Or historical site) Haute Savoie village of Samoens, very near to the Tele-cabin. The balcony has stunning views of the famous Le Criou mountainside. The building is in a traditional French Alpine style with lift access to the apartment. A secure ski locker is provided with the apartment and parking is free outside the main entrance.

The apartment is on the 4th floor (there is a lift of course) making for stunning views and far enough away from any noise on the ground. Having said that - Samoens is a very quiet town.

As you enter the apartment you will find bunk beds large enough for adults. A bathroom and a kitchen area.

The kitchen has everything you require as well as a dishwasher!

Upstairs is a double bed and a large corner sofa with flat screen smart TV that plays films saved to a memory (USB) stick or DVDs.

There is ample storage space for luggage etc.

The view from the balcony down the valley is breathtaking - only surpassed by the view from the velux window upstairs.

Being four floors, the building is taller than those around it and allows us to look down on the town and across to the mountains.

About the Owner

We live in Hertfordshire with our two children. We love the mountains and wanted a quiet apartment that we could share with our friends and family. We stumbled across the area and realised how perfectly it fit us being avid skiers and snow boarders and great lovers of the outdoors. Once we saw the view from the balcony we were hooked. Now we have our children and we can't wait to teach them to ski! We have already taken them to the outdoor pool and had trips to the waterfalls in Sixt.

Perfect stay

The apartment had everything we needed with fabulous views from the balcony and from the bedroom. There is a cozy lounge area, a very comfy bed and a well stocked kitchen. It was also great having parking so close. We are thinking about going back for a winter holiday.

Great value apartment!

Family of 4 including 2 year old and 4 year old. Apartment was great and had everything we needed - close to Samoens village centre and an easy 10 min walk (or 2 min ski bus) to the gondola. Would happily stay again!

Super self contained little apartment - great spot

Excellent value for money - lovely self contained little apartment with everything you'd need for a week away. A few steps away from the ski bus stop and small supermarket or a two minute walk into the village centre. Quiet, warm apartment, plenty of warm water and hanging space - what more do you need?

Amazing holiday

This is my 6th visit to this apartment, it is superb! We particularly love the amazing view of the mountains from the apartment balcony, and we loved sitting out there eating our meals. There is also a view of the mountains from the master bedroom through the skylight. The apartment is a good size, with a modern kitchen-dinner including a dish washer. The beds are comfortable and there is a living room area with a TV , DVD player and board games. The village of Samoens is very picturesque. The apartment is convenient for the shops, restaurants, and for a variety of places for arranging activities. Samoens has plenty of restaurants, my favourites are ‘La Table du Fifine’ and La Louisannes’. In the village there are sufficient small supermarkets, outdoor shops and places to buy holiday souvenirs.

During our stay we visited Chamonix and went up the Aguile Du Midi cable car on Mont Blanc, which had spectacular views and is an amazing feat of engineering. On another day trip to Chamonix we went up the mountain train to the Mer de La Glace Glacier and visited the ice cave in the glacier and glacier museum there which were excellent.

We also visited the beautiful town of Annecy and looked round the old picturesque old town, hired pedalos and swam in the lake.

In the Samoens we were able to hire bikes and also arrange white water rafting for the later we used - Ecolorado Rafting who I would recommend as they spoke English and our guide had a great sense of humour. We also did several walks from the apartment, and there were many more valley and mountain walks that we have yet to do. The walks took us along the river valleys, through Alpine meadows, though woodland, and up mountains with great views back down into valley and by mountain lakes. I recommend the walk up to Cascade du Roget, a spectacular waterfall, there is a café here where you can take a break.

There is a Park in Samoens – Lac aux dame which is a great place to sun bath or read. If you fancy swimming you can work further along the Giffre to Lac Bleu in Morrilion which can be swum in in the summer months.

Great for Families

We are a family of 5 with 3 young children aged 1, 5 & 7. The apartment is on the top floor of a block of flats therefore very quiet.

The flat consisted of two floors which has the bedroom and living area upstair and kitchen/toilet and bunk beds in the entrance downstairs.

The upstairs was confortable with plenty of storage for the clothes and the kitchen was very well equipped considering we cooked for the 4 out of the 7 nights we stayed.

The location is great, there is a mini-market next door and a take away pizza van across the road. If you have a car, private parking is available but there is a ski bus stop next to the apartment.

City centre is a 5 minute walk.

The way the town is set up, main gondola is not walking distance, it is at the end of the town with no flats around it, so the only way to get there is to take the ski bus or drive and park. We chose to drive all the way upto Samoens 1600 village, which is a 20 minute drive but much more convenient as you don't have the main gondola queues both ways.

The resort is very impressive as it is low, it is a living town, not necessarily a ski resort so there are many shops/restaurants but the main attraction was the ski area. I am an advanced skier and probably I would not be satisfied with the grand massif area but with a family (beginner or intermediate skiers) its great. Mainy blue runs, and some reds. Les Carroz is the most scenic, Flaine is the highest and widest runs therefore the best snow conditions and Samoens is great for beginners (green runs)

Would highly recommend the flat and the resort.

Best tip for half term skiers - book your restaurants before you ski. In 7 nights we could not find a table in ANY restaurant. Fully booked.

If you want to hire skis, use the ski hire shops on the otherside of town as they are cheaper and had brand new equipment.

A great base for a week skiing in Samoens

We stayed here for a weeks skiing in Feb. Ideal location, across the road to the ski bus stop (a bit too far to walk to the gondola in ski boots), next door to a reasonable supermarket and only a short walk to the town centre. Apartment is above the Irish bar which was ideal after a day on the slopes!!

The apartment has everything needed for a self catering holiday and was very quiet. The space was fine for the two of us. Imagine it would be ok for a family but may be a bit crowded with 4 adults. There is no cleaning facility so you need to clean when leaving- wasn't a problem for us and the agent checks it over at check-out so you can be sure it will be acceptable when you arrive.

The town is lovely, Wednesday market was worth a visit for some good food. The ski area was great, lots of sectors to explore and we had great conditions.

Communication from the owner was very good and questions I had were always answered quickly. Would consider staying again if we return to Samoens.

From the Owner

We fell in love with Samoens with its beautiful 14th century church and town square and fantastic restaurants. Samoens is one of the most beautiful ski resorts in Winter. We often head over to the other linked resorts such as Flaine with its acres of powder skiing and rolling blue runs. From there we love to ski "The Cascades" a 14km run, one of the longest in the Alps. Summer brings a mix of exploring the markets and mountains to white water rafting and Via Ferrata (a little like climbing but no experience required). Samoens is a quiet town. There is no night club but some restaurants have live music. A quick hop to Geneva via EasyJet and its just an hour by car - either rental or we can recommend a reliable transfer service right to the door. Samoens has one of the largest beginners areas in the Alps. Perfect for children. There are Conveyor Belts making it much easier to learn to ski or snowboard without worrying about drag lifts to start with. There is a toddler area which is very flat, safe and fenced off and we supply a large travel cot. Samoens boasts one of the largest beginners areas in the alps!

Geneva is 60 minutes away. www.GoMassif.com do excellent transfers where you can share a large mini bus to keep costs down or hire privately.


2 minutes walk to village centre with extremely good restaurants. 8 minute walk or 2 minute ski bus to Tele-cabin.

Further Details:

Very well appointed alpine (Sherpa) supermarket 20 seconds walk.

Swimming pool 5 minutes walk.

Local shops in the village less than 2 minutes walk.

A typical day in Winter:

After grabbing breakfast (maybe eggs for an omelette or some pain au chocolat) either walk over to the Gondola or grab the ski bus which arrive reliably every 15 minutes. These are laid on as part of your ski pass. Explore Samoens, and all the linked resorts.

There are very friendly ski schools to help you learn to ski and we can provide details to get you started - just ask.

If you are a seasoned skier or snow boarder, there are fields of off piste leading from one piste to another. There is also the famous 14km Cascades piste from Flaine with its frozen waterfalls. The ski area is huge with five linked resorts.

After skiing you can either cook up a hearty meal in the apartment or visit one of the local restaurants from La Louisianne for its wood oven cooked pizza to Table De Fiffine for a longer more refined evening of French cuisine.

A typical day in Summer:

Hike or drive to Sixt and visit the huge Rouge Cascade waterfall. Relax at the resteraunt and have lunch or an ice cream as the water fall thunders down on to the rocks.

Have a beer in the town square and soak up the 13th century architecture and mountain views.

Children can ride on the carousel or the land train which tours the village around the river and surrounding area.

The lakes in the villages are turned into beaches and children make sand castles.

There is a huge rope assault course in the trees in Morillon - the village next to Samoens.

For the more adventurous:

Enjoy the white water rafter down the river Gifre. Leap from the cliffs into the river.

Go mountain biking - bring your own or hire all the gear. Take the gondola up into the mountains and scream down the piste.

Take a flight or sign up for a course in Paragliding.

Take a rock climbing course or try Via Feratta.

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

The booking may be canceled at any time before the arrival date and for any reason. We do not have any administration charges for cancellations.
The amount of refund we can give you depends on whether we can re-let the apartment over the period of cancellation.
We will retain 50% of the total rental and refund the balance to you. If we can re-let for the period we will refund to you the remaining 50%.
Please take out your own travel insurance to cover loss from any cancellation you are forced to make.

We visit several times a year in winter and summer. Winter provides one of the largest ski areas in France right on the door step with incredible views of Mont Blanc from the top of Flaine. In summer we love the lakes and the river and just walking in the mountains. We always enjoy it and we hope you do too.

  • Notes on accommodation: Keys can be picked up from our local Agent Corinne at her shop Immo2000 - less than 1 minute walk from the apartment: The car park for 64 La Cour is by Covey's Irish bar. From here exit the car park and turn left and left again at the round about (or by the pedestrian gate and go under the archway and turn left). Past the cinema along the road towards the village centre in the direction of Restaurant Louisianne. Opposite Restaurant Louisianne the keys are located in Agence Immo 2000 where Corinne will be waiting. Out of hours the keys can be collected from the letter box at the back of Agence Immo 2000. The letter box is labelled Agence Immo 2000. If there is any problem you can call Corinne at Agence Immo 2000 on this number: 0033 04 50 34 99 67 Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are now included in the price. A cleaner does come but we would appreciate it if you could leave the apartment as you found it - clean and tidy. Other: The down stairs area houses the kitchen diner with comfortable cushioned corner seating.
