"We have stayed in lots of cottages over the years but my husband and I both agree that Castle Cottage is the nicest by far. It is beautifully decorated throughout and you have thought of everything one might need when self catering. In the past I have loaded the car up with towels, teapot, laundry and dishwashing items, cling film, condiments, etc, etc.....!!!!! Not this time it was fantastic."

"Wow! The first words from all of us, including the children. Absolutely beautiful house, warm homely feel ..Cannot fault one thing - the welcome was lovely with all the little touches."

Outstanding in every way

  • 5 of 5

Castle Cottage is a beautiful place to stay where the owner has literally thought of everything for you. A lot of consideration has gone into every aspect of your stay, right down to the varied reading matter on the bookshelf, far superior to most holiday homes! We really loved staying here despite the Welsh winter and will definitely try and stay here again when we return to Conwy. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Thank you.

Impeccable Castle Cottage in the center of Conwy

  • 5 of 5

My family of four had the great fortune of staying at Castle Cottage for two nights in May. The cottage is tucked away on a quiet street but still in the heart of Conwy and everything is accessible by a short walk. The cottage is a charming old building that has been completely renovated on the inside. The first impression when entering the cottage is that it is impeccably clean, tastefully decorated, and very comfortable. The craftsmanship and fit and finish of everything inside is excellent. It is clear that the owners take great pride in the cottage. There is a very well organized "Visitor Manual" which has answers to all questions one might have as to how to use the cottage. I must say, that many properties ignore this feature or don't provide a very informative up to date guide. This one is among the best I have used.

Upon arrival, there was a tea setting for four featuring fresh made bara brith and a pint of milk in the refrigerator. A very nice welcome! The cottage kitchen is well stocked with everything one would need to prepare meals: dishes, pots, pans, knives, cutting boards, etc. Full oven and hob, along with kettle, microwave, coffee maker, etc.

The sitting room is comfortable and not overcrowded with furniture. Small flat screen TV with freeview. The wifi access was adequately fast for streaming. Plenty of DVD's and games are available. The bedrooms are upstairs. One room with a full bed and another with bunk beds. All beds are comfortable with extra pillow options. The bathroom has a full tub with a shower combo. Great water pressure and plenty of hot water. Shampoo, lotion, soap were all supplied.

In summary, our stay at Castle Cottage was excellent and the cottage is fabulous. I was disappointed that we only had time to stay two nights before moving on. I would highly recommend this cottage. The only small challenge for me was the parking. There is a space right at the front of the cottage (thankfully), but the access road is quite narrow. Nothing can be done about this as it is a walled village, and it was not a major issue, but it does take practice to back in down that street!

Owner's Response: I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Castle Cottage and appreciated the little extra touches that I try to provide. As owners we endeavour to stay at the cottage a few nights each year to undertake repair work and ensure that everything is in full working order. A fully equipped kitchen is high on my list of priorities! Wherever feasible, if guests have suggested that we add something this has been acted upon. After six years we have a substantial number of guests who return annually. I hope to see you again in the future and many thanks for your positive review. Nicola.

This is the second time we have stayed at this lovely cottage in the heart of Conwy. It is immaculate and everything you can possibly need is there. A great deal of thought has gone into the property. Quality fittings and furnishings and lovely bed linen and towels. Communication with Nicola is great and she is extremely friendly and helpful. Many thanks Nicola. We will return!

This is a really lovely cottage, well maintained, superbly equipped and the cleanest holiday rental property I've ever stayed in. The owner had left a cake which was a nice touch.

The property is nicely decorated and in an ideal location. There was no issue with parking.

I came with my mum so copped for the bunk bed. It was a good size so not a problem.

I would say that a family of four may struggle for room in the living room but for two adults it was spacious enough.

The only problem we encountered was the heating. There is no central heating downstairs so the main source of heat was the fire. On two occasions the radiators didn't come on but I think this was because the thermostat had been set low and radiators never really got hot (just warm) despite being turned up full.

I would definitely recommend this property and would return.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback and I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Guest feedback is extremely important to us. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about the space we have in this former fisherman's cottage but we have many families of four who return every year so it doesn't seem to be a problem for them. I am sorry to hear about the heating. There is a floor level fan in the living room which is actually part of the central heating system and when I checked it after your stay I see that it had been turned to "air conditioning" mode so was blowing out cold air rather than hot as it should, which wouldn't have helped. We have upgraded to a more powerful gas fire in the living room and there is also a convection heater in the room which guests are welcome to move about the property if needed. The full mechanics of the heating system are explained in the guest literature at the cottage, but unfortunately if it gets hot in the living room, where the thermostat is, the upstairs radiators will not produce as much heat. There is an electric blanket on the double bed in case this proves to be a problem for anyone as we really don't like to think that anybody might be cold.
