Apartment in Dalyan, Aegean Region, Turkey - Quiet Residential Area 5-6 Minutes Leisurely Walk To Town Centre & River

The villa is situated on a corner plot in a quiet residential area of Dalyan It is not directly overlooked which gives a feeling of space and has lovely views of the mountains. An area of shade was incorporated into the villa design to within 4-5 feet of the house walls, this ensures that it stays relatively cool inside during the heat of the day and a roofed over terrace has been created beneath the grape vine to give extra shade and create an area to relax in during those very rare summer showers. A marble staircase leads to a large sun terrace on the 1st floor. The nearest large supermarket is just over a minute’s walk and stocks most provisions. The ‘Isik’ restaurant is about the same distance. The town centre and river are a leisurely 5 to 6 minute stroll. The dolmus (buses) run every 15-20 minutes and stop by request at the supermarket. Adjacent to the villa is a small family run hotel and a small farm at the rear. The hotel owner also runs the local taxi firm "tutarlar"

We have lived in Wales for around 30 years Joan comes from London and I'm originally from Dover. I worked as a Draughtsman much of the time self employed. I retired 2 years ago but still do a lot of 3d drawing work mainly with computer's now. I seem to have become quite deeply involved in measuring and drawing corn mills including some around Dalyan see the a0tech website

Joan is now a housewife but has run many ventures in the past including holiday cottages here in Wales and has worked part time with Oxfam for the last 13 years.

Why Joan Brandrick chose Lycian & Turquoise Coast

We came on holiday to Dalyan in 2004 and as all tourists do checked property prices. I figured we could afford to buy a plot & build a villa although it would take several years to complete. We met Muhammet Tutar who's Dad Ali runs Tutarlar Taxis and he had some land for sale. Our savings were tied up in Peps and after Sept11 their value dropped by almost 30% in 7 months. I figured the bank didn't care if it lost my money as it wasn't theirs and I couldn't lose my money any quicker if I bought this land. Dalyan is so lovely and the people are great so we did! The house was designed to be built in 3 stages as our budget allowed. hence the roof around the middle. The villa was built & finished in 2006 in one go and its the best decision we ever made, just love it!

What makes this apartment unique

The villas location is great! It is a corner plot near the end of a cul-de-sac so very little traffic. The villa is not directly overlooked by other properties so the terrace has a feeling of privacy and spaciousness and offers splendid views of the mountains. The hotel next door is on the far side of its land behind a well established hedge. The sun is behind the villa giving shade to the rear of the pool terrace but the pools remain in full sun. We have more than one national supermarket nearby, the closest is just 200 paces away. A restaurant with a Turkish lady owner whose food is superb and very economical, a similar distance away. There is an "Allsorts" shop that occupies 4 shops and sells everything. The town and river are just a few minutes away which offers many other facilities.

This property is in an excellent location, just a few minutes walk from the river and restaurants - but quiet and secluded. We all (2 adults and 3 children) fell in love with the villa. It was perfect for our needs - plenty of shade around the house, highly efficient air-con, and a great swimming pool that was cleaned daily. The family looking after the house were very friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend this property.

This is the second time we have stayed at this villa. It is excellent value for money, the location could not be better as it is 5 min walk to the centre and in a very quiet location. The views are stunning and the pool and terrace were a joy to enjoy and soak up this piece of paradise. Thank you for a wonderful family holiday.

Notes on accommodation: Ikiz palmiye (twin palms) is a villa with a self-contained, fully equipped apartment comprising the whole ground floor. Completed in 2006 it has a unique hexagonal design and sits within its own walled garden on a corner plot. All furnishings, fixtures and fittings are to a high standard. An area of shade was incorporated into the design to within 4-5 feet of the villa walls, this ensures it stays relatively cool inside during the heat of the day. Our grape vine gives shade and with the new transparent roof over will give cover in the event of a summer shower. The villa is situated in a quiet residential area of Dalyan. The nearest restaurant & a large supermarket are about 1 minute walk away and stocks most provisions. The town centre and river are a leisurely 5 to 6 minute stroll. Adjacent to the Villa is a small family run hotel and a villa to the rear Outside: The gardens and pool terrace are in full sun but there are some trees that will give welcome shade if needed. Some young fruit trees border the terrace which comprise pomegranate, plum, lemon, orange, mandarin, olive, grapefruit, fig and banana at the rear with grass and flowering plants to the opposite side of the terrace not forgetting our "special grape" and the twin palms of course. There is a bbq area at the front of the villa with lights installed to help with those late night sessions. A marble slab has been incorporated into the area under the grape if you want to relocate the bbq. The 6 sided swimming pool is 20' wide and 5'deep the matching children's pool is 3'6" x 21" deep. The travertine marble terrace has a table and chairs, sun loungers and umbrellas etc. A fresh water shower is provided adjacent to the pool steps with an overhead rose, a flexible spray and a low level tap for your feet. There is a garden store for the terrace furniture & cushions. Utility Room: The washing machine is in a covered utility area on the terrace behind the villa and is located inside a marble topped unit. A folding clothes dryer is provided and with the area facing south giving full sun all day drying is quickly achieved Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen and towels are provided but not beach towels. Full cleaning and linen changes are carried out between lets and a mini clean & linen change on lets longer than a week are included. Other: The large first floor sun terrace is accessed via a straight marble staircase from the hallway. It is equipped with table & chairs, sun beds etc. It has magnificent views of the surrounding mountains

A gem on the edge of Dalyan

We have stayed in many Owners Direct Villas around Europe and this one comes at the top of the list for value for money and fits our requirements perfectly. The living quarters are very clean, comfortable and extremely well kitted out and a lot of thought has gone into providing all the little extras that make it feel like home, especially the kitchen. Aircon and wifi are a welcome addition and barbecue facilities are provided. The owners allow you to use the upstairs patio adjacent to their private rooms this offers more privacy and gives you on other place to eat besides the downstairs patio under the grapevines. The pool is adequate for cooling off and is cleaned daily by Meryem from the neighbouring Alibaba hotel and apartments and she offers meals and barbecue food whilst making you welcome amongst her own guests if you are looking for company. Her son Muhammet will transfer you from the airport and take you to places of interest if you prefer taxi or minibus. There are numerous restaurants within easy level walking distance in Dalyan and the food is of a very good standard in the majority of them and most of the fish is caught from the river. Many types of boat trips are available to suit different choices or the local Dolomus is another alternative. The owners are never there during your stay so you have complete privacy but if you should need any help or information just go next door to the Alibaba . We are already planning our third holiday there in 2016 as somewhere to chill out away from our hectic social life.
