About the property

E10010

Redyeates Farm is the perfect place for family holidays or couples that want to get away from it all in a luxurious, peaceful setting with a great variety of things to do either at the farm or on days out. Previously the Devon Wine School, Redyeates Farm has total peace and quiet based around a 17th century farmhouse with no near neighbours and lots of rolling Devon country-side. If you like the sound of nothing (or maybe a woodpecker or two!) and the sight of circling buzzards, with real dark skies at night to properly see the stars, then you cant go far wrong here. We have superb 5 star accommodation with something for everyone and fine countryside views on your doorstep. If you want to play tennis on our recently re-surfaced all weather court, play football with the kids or read the papers while the children roam the 3 acres of gardens, playing on the climbing frame and swings, jumping on our spring free trampoline or simply playing table tennis, we have a lot to do for all.

About Redyeates Farm and Country Cottages

Having spent a lot of time working in corporate life we decided that having had so many fantastic holidays in Devon, it was time to 'live the dream' and stop talking about it. So that's basically it in a nutshell. Having opened Redyeates Farm as luxury holiday cottages (it used to be the Devon Wine School) we are now completely focused on ensuring that all of our customers and their children have a great time here.

During school holiday times we focus on family holidays and outside of these times we focus a little more on adult getaways and romantic weekends.

If you want to know anything more about our holiday cottages, our facilities or the local area, please do not hesitate to call me and discuss your requirements. Best Regards, Gary

Why Redyeates Farm and Country Cottages chose Exeter

When we first saw Redyeates Farm we immediately fell in love with it. It is so peaceful here that we often joke with the children .... "listen to that!" They always say they cant hear anything at all - and that's exactly the point.

With the beautiful views of the rolling Devon countryside and the total peace and quiet you can also be in the cathedral city of Exeter in 25 minutes or at other local pubs and restaurants within 10 minutes or so. The nearest pub with excellent food is just down the road, minutes from us. We are surrounded by all the tourist attractions people would want and the M5 motorway is about 15 minutes away at Tiverton so along with the countryside feel, we really aren't very far from all of the shops, restaurants and attractions you could possibly want.

What makes this cottage unique

The large oak dining table, that seats up to 16 people, can be converted to a pool/snooker table. There is a dining table in the kitchen that seats up to 10 people, should you decide to take this option. Please note there is a £45 charge to convert the pool/snooker table which you need confirm when booking.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Myself and my wife had a long romantic weekend at Redyeates staying in the Dairy. It really is a lovely property. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. We will certainly be returning with our children very soon."

"We were the first people to book the barn as it has only just opened and we absolutely loved it. Great quality accommodation, everything immaculately presented. Our children had a great time and the tennis court was lovely to have an early morning knock around before going out for the day. The Fisherman's Cot is a fantastic pub by the river..... dont miss it."

"Redyeates is owned by our friends and a large group of us rented the whole thing for a long weekend in June. The annex is just amazing if there is a large group of you. We had some great meals in and some great fun in the gardens. One of the best things is the ability to all be together but when you want some quiet time, you can do that too given the 3 lounges and very large bedrooms."

Really enjoyed our weeks stay here weather could have been better but not in control of that it didn't stop us enjoying the area and sampling the many good food restaurants, the house was well equipped and the welcome pack was very good and much appreciated in all very good and would certainly recommend to people we know.

Beautiful property and surroundings

  • 5 of 5

A lovely place to stay very remote so if you want to get away from it all this is the place for you, however if you want to stay in touch no problem as there is a TV in every room and wi-fi. The owners are very helpful. The property has everything you may want in lovely surroundings and countryside definitely one of the best places I have stayed in

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely review John and also for staying with us. You are certainly correct. If peace and quiet is what people want, you can't go far wrong here. I just wanted to point out for other guests who may not want it to be remote, that the centre of the beautiful Roman city of Exeter has everything you could want as well as a quayside area with river walks, cycle paths (bicycles for hire here too), bars and restaurants etc. all just 20 mins from us. We also have some lovely local pubs near us too. One is less than a mile away and is a 16th century thatched inn with great food, open fire and a warm welcome and there are also some beautiful pubs and bistros by the river in Bickleigh about 10 mins away. But if people want peace and quiet and a safe place for the children, you can rarely hear anything else here apart from a lot of amazing Devon wildlife and the stars at night are also quite something (no light pollution). We do have lots of family gatherings here as well where people just decide to 'stay in' as there is also a lot to do around Redyeates itself for both families and children (tennis, football, trampoline, basketball, table tennis, climbing frame, swings etc) and some beautiful views. Thanks again for your lovely review John and we really hope to see you here again sometime soon. Best Regards, Gary

The Dairy was perfect. 5* accomodation

  • 5 of 5

If you want a little bit of luxury this is the place for you. Super King size beds, beautiful linen. Nothing was too much trouble. Acres of garden to stroll around. Lovely pub 6 miles away in Crediton (Ring of Bells) serving super food. If you want to relax this is the place.

Absolutely Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We feel so lucky to have found this place. It was perfect right from the start. The welcome pack was extremely useful as we hadn't managed to organize a delivery before we arrived and it included everything we needed. Gary gave us a great welcome and gave us loads of information about the area. The beds were to die for and the cottage was spotlessly clean. The kids couldn't have been happier with all there was to do and it was so safe for them to run around, we hardly saw them. We managed to get the rest we needed! We are planning another trip next year with our family so will be back then. I would recommend this to everyone but worried we might not get in if we do!

Best Choice

Location , layout, quality and facilities are among the pluses of this nice property.

The moment we arrived we felt that we are in wild yet everything needed is near by (attractions, supermarket ,village high street ,restaurants ... ) . My wife loves wild life .she didn't mind staying at the cottage all the day just watching the visitors .

The cottage itself is well kept . I couldn't believe it's been offered for rental since some years back.

On top of that, Louise has been extremely generous by welcoming us with plenty of quality snacks and drinks on top of offering us all assistance which made our stay extremely comfortable and informative.

We are surely coming back, but this time with our greater family which is large enough for the larger cottage.

Thank you Louise for everything

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your lovely review. I'm so pleased you liked all the extra touches like the welcome pack. We look forward to welcoming you and your extended family in the future. Its a great place for larger families to get together. We can recommend a wonderful chef who lives nearby that would be very happy to organise a special meal for you all one night (he even does all the cleaning up!) The Barn Cottage is perfect for that as the dining table accommodates up to 16 people. Please let us know if we can be of any further help. I really enjoyed meeting you both and hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay in the UK. Best regards Redyeates Farm & Country Cottages

Beautiful Relaxing Break

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely relaxing break here. The Barn and the Cottage are lovely, very clean, well equipped, just as described. The owners were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The village of Cheriton Fitzpaine is very small and quiet with a couple of pubs and again very friendly and welcoming people. The position is also good, Exeter is not far away and also the North and South Coasts of Devon are easily accessible. I would definitely go there again and recommend it to friends.

Location

Car: recommended

Travel:

20 minutes from the M5 at Tiverton.

20 minutes from the beautiful Roman city of Exeter

17 miles from Exeter International Airport

Distances:

Just under a mile to the village & local pubs. Also an excellent farm shop nearby. Within 10 - 15 mins there is also a wider selection of local pubs with good food including the bistro bar and restaurant at Bickleigh Mill. Also nearby is the Fishermans Cot overlooking the bridge that was apparently the inspiration for Simon & Garfunkles 'Bridge Over Troubled Water'. There is a superb view of the river from the pub / restaurant. Its 12 miles to either national park and 45 mins to either coast.

Further Details:

Redyeates Farm is surrounded by a huge variety of attractions and depending on what you like, there is something for everyone within a short distance. Close by, there are pubs with good food, a fantastic farm shop for local produce as well as places to walk, cycle or horse ride.

In Bickleigh (10 minutes), is a beautiful Devon village with many thatched cottages, a 400 year old pub, the Devon Railway centre and ‘The Fisherman’s Cot’, a great pub to sit outside immediately next to the river. Bickleigh Mill has an 18th century water wheel, a woodland, waterside walks and a maze. The Mill also has a large shop with gifts, clothing, pottery and crafts and there is an excellent Bistro restaurant and bar open during the day and serving evening meals on certain nights.

We are also situated between the National Parks of Exmoor and Dartmoor either of which is just 12 miles away.

Being strategically placed, from our cottages you can really experience all of the variety Devon has to offer families, young and old. In each of our cottages we have an information pack full of ideas for great days out and some examples in the surrounding areas.

And if you fancy the seaside for the day, you really are well placed to take your pick of many of the coastal resorts (north and south) with their beaches, pretty fishing villages and smugglers coves - either coast being less than an hour away.

If you want a night out to somewhere specific on your own, taxi’s and babysitters can also be arranged (subject to availability). The lovely City of Exeter is just 20 minutes away and has a wealth of bars, family friendly restaurants and attractions including Roman ruins, a beautiful cathedral, park, museum and shopping in our view better than Oxford Street. Exeter Quayside is also near to the shops which also a great place to walk, shop, eat or hire bicycles.
