Overview

About the property

Private Montalcino pool farmhouse , Siena Province, Tuscany and Florence, Italy - Peaceful Location, 10 Minutes Drive To The Montalcino & wine country

An authentic character farmhouse sleeping 17, is a typical Tuscan villa set in 14 acres of gardens and woodland above the Via Cassia, the old pilgrim road from Siena to Rome. The semi circular front garden gives a panoramic view of the ValD’Arbia and from the terrace we look across the valley to Montalcino famous throughout the world for its ‘Brunello di Montalcino’. Wine tasting and recommendations available as we are passionate about wine. This family home is both private and peaceful and little changed for generations. The villa developed from a farmhouse or wine fattoria many hundreds of years old. It became the summer residence and hunting lodge of the Crocchi, the principal family of the region who lived in the Castello in Torrenieri. Montelandi is our own home in Italy when we travel and not like the usual holiday accommodation we have known. In the summer we let the house to visitors and we have tried to remember our own holiday experiences and needs so you can enjoy the home to the maximum. The villa sleeps 17 in total, 13 in the main house with 4 bathrooms (3 ensuite) and 4 more guests in two double ensuites in the ground floor with 2 bathrooms.

There are a total of 9 bathrooms. Complimentary wifi included. We normally let the villa as one exclusive home for all 17 guests. For smaller groups please ask for details. Usually the farmhouse is let as one private villa with exclusive use of the pool for 17 guests. For smaller groups of 4 looking to rent please ask for more information.Claudio, who looks after the Villa, will be able to help you with any of your needs during your stay at Montelandi. Marieangela will prepare special meals and can also give cooking lessons, if requested in advance. The Herb garden below the kitchen provides a variety of herbs for the cook of the day, along with the vegetable garden and the orchard, which have seasonal produce and guests are welcome to during their stay. The Crete is an area where the land undulates like the waves and tall Cypress trees stand alone or lining the drives to houses and farms. It is great walking country, but, don't worry, you don't need a tour guide - just a map. If you are not a serious walker you can anyway access all areas of interest by car. The Vineyards are the special attraction of the area. There are many with tasting rooms and restaurants for the local wines and other local produce. There is also Horse riding, Tennis, Hot Springs and Beauty Therapy available locally.

What makes this villa unique

Peaceful location with outstanding views overlooking the Tuscan hillside.

The Villa sleeps up to 17 guests in total.

Guestbook comments from the manager

"In June we stayed at Montelandi for our party celebration. There were enough nooks and crannies for people to enjoy private and special spaces but also large airy spots where we could all come together to celebrate and enjoy each other's company. We arranged for the chef to cook for our birthday dinner; and what a feast that proved to be. This was our third trip to Montelandi and I hope not our last." Professor Susan Groundwater-Smith (Australia)

"We booked the whole villa and the extended family spent a week here. We could not have imagined a better suited spot for us. Some spent their days by the pool and reading in the hammock, the rest of us took off in a rented car to visit the hilltop towns and vineyards all within a very short drive of Montelandi. The villa is vast and the rooms furnished beautifully plus a well equipped kitchen to feed the whole family. We sat on the terrace out under the stars and enjoyed the views across the valley"

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: On the ground floor the old wine fattoria has been converted to provide spacious open plan areas linked by archways and leading out onto terraces at the front and the side of the house. The kitchen and breakfast room open into a dining area and from there through French Windows to a pergola shaded al fresco dining area. The views are across the garden to Montalcino and down the Val d'Arbia towards the Val d'Orcia and Monte Amiata, the highest mountain in middle Italy, snow capped and with slopes covered in chestnut trees. Outside: Gardens For more privacy, so as not to be located directly next to a party using the main part of the villa and the main terrace.' The herb garden is just below the kitchen. It has Lemons, Mint, Tarragon, Basil, Chives, Rosemary, Sage, Parsley, Thyme. The vegetable garden and the orchard have produce in season for visitors. There are 14 acres of woodland. A pathway leads to 2 small lakes at the top of the woods. You can follow a path from the gates that takes you around the bottom of the hill and back up to the garden. The swimming pool is fenced in and beyond it there is a space to play badminton. The home is designed in such a way that the large garden enjoys two areas for alfresco dining so guests staying at the apartment can dine at the side of the home for more privacy or directly infront of the arched doorway into the garden so not located directly next to the remainder of the party using the home and the shared garden area.

Breathtaking

A truly special and authentic Tuscan Villa in the most incredible setting.

A property you enter that just has a lovely feeling.

I think it would be very hard to beat a Tuscan dream like this.

Memories are made of this

  • 5 of 5

My close friends and I all turned 50 this year and when my husband asked me what I would like to do to celebrate I had an instant vision. Family and friends in a beautiful setting holidaying together.

Montelandi was that vision and then some.

I can honestly say that every single person in our party aged from 9 to 80 loved every minute!

Claudio was helpful and Maria Angela and her colleague created a delicious meal for us - enjoyed outdoors.

Montelandi has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere and if you're looking for somewhere with stunning views and tranquility but within a 5 min car journey to visit villages or towns for provisions or meals you will not beat this!

There is plenty of space for your whole group to spread out and completely relax.

Enjoy!

(We're already planning our next trip!)

Magical Montelandi!

  • 5 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Montelandi. A truly tranquil location with stunning views. Buonconvento close by is the most authentic tuscan experience we have found in our many trips to the area. The village has all you need from restaurants and delis to supermarket and bars not to mention a warm and friendly atmosphere. The privacy and spacious layout meant we enjoyed complete privacy and made for a memorable holiday. This will not be our last stay here for sure and will recommend to friends and family looking for an idyllic tuscan villa experience. Thanks also to Claudia for his help and kindness during our host, the perfect host.

A Tuscan Dream at P.Montelandi

  • 5 of 5

Buy a box of good wine and some genuine food..you don't need anything else to leave the stress out of the Podere Montelandi's gate!

I spent here 5 fantastic days with some friends. The property is huge, located in a fantastic position, in the middle of the nature, just 10 minutes driving from Montalcino and 20 from Siena! Every detail has been choosen with attention: comfortable sofas, big dining tables family style, antique rocking chairs and beautiful hammocks!

The view is awesome, especially from the garden and from the two major bedrooms.

October is a perfect period to visit the villa, because during the day it is warm, so (after the wine tasting tasting tours!)you can still use the pool but at night it's cold enough to relax in front of the beautiful fireplace in the living room!!!

Breathtaking & Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Montelandi with two other families, totalling 14 of us and there was more than enough space to accommodate us all. We flew into Pisa airport and arrived at 2am to be greeted by the wonderful Claudio. The villa was amazing with its vaulted ceilings, large fire places, large rooms and antique furnishings, but the views of the Tuscan hillsides were beautiful and I can only hope that my memory will hold them forever. The pool was well maintained with plenty of sun loungers and there was a herb garden which we used to create lovely pasta dishes. We hired a car and visited Siena, Montalcino and Montepulciano which were also enjoyed by our teenage children. We visited restaurants in the local villages, Buonconvento and Torrenieri and found the locals to be very friendly. All of the families found the holiday relaxing and we do hope to visit again.
