Charming 3 bedroom cottage in the heart of the countryside

Overview

Property

Updated: 08-Oct-2016
Rural 3 bedroom cottage with large private garden situated 10 minutes drive from Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouet

Le Bas Habit is a charming stone cottage situated 10 minutes drive from Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouet. Surrounded by fields and trees it is the perfect place to relax and makes a wonderful base from which to explore the local area.

Downstairs the cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable large dining and sitting room and a laundry room. All the rooms are beautifully decorated and there are two wood burning stoves to keep the place cosy during the winter months. Exposed wooden beams throughout the cottage and original floorboards add to the charm of this property. Upstairs there is master double bedroom with en-suite and walk-in-wardrobe, two further double bedrooms and a family bathroom. There is an additional camp bed and a cot. The cottage has a large private garden with a pond, summer house, tree house, BBQ and plenty of outdoor dining space.

The local attractions are all within easy reach of the cottage making a trip to St Malo, Le Mont St Michel, Fougeres and many other places incredibly worthwhile. An idyllic place for a relaxing holiday.

We spent a lovely week in the property which is in a good location to explore numerous places of interest such as mont michel, Granville, bayeux, etc.

Lovely property which is well equipped, clean and homely.

Great long weekend

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had a great 5 night stay here. The house is very comfortable and the garden is beautiful. It's a great base to explore the area from. We visited the bayeux tapestry and mont St Michel and the beach in our hire car. There is a supermarket nearby to stock up on provisions. We also did lots of running and walking. The countryside surrounding the house is gorgeous for walks/running. We loved staying here in rural France and returned home well rested!!!

A perfect place for

  • 5 of 5

This property is a really lovely place to enjoy your holiday. All directions were accurate and easy to follow, and on arrival you straight away enjoy a lovely view of the gardens. The owner has put a lot of thought into providing a comfortable, well equipped and well maintained clean property. There are many places of interest within easy distance and information has been provided for them but as this was more of a relaxing holiday for me I particularly liked visiting the local town which has a market and then enjoying eating in the gardens or just sipping something nice in the summerhouse in the evening. I would not hesitate to recommend this lovely property to anyone. It caters for relaxing or sight-seeing holidays and is also family friendly.

Stunning Cottage..!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at Le Bas Habit. The cottage is very tastefully decorated and we wanted for nothing. It was lovely just sitting out in the garden, the dolly mixture cows were very friendly visiting us once a day, the wildlife was quite extraordinary, woodpeckers, buzzards, rabbits and chickens!! We enjoyed a nice walk to a local 'bar tabac' where we made some friends.

The farmers market in Saint Hilaire is something not to be missed. We managed a lot of day trips and also found some very pleasant walking routes.

Blissfully tranquil

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful cottage, very well kept, nestling at the end of a country lane, so there is absolutely no passing traffic. The garden is large and delightful, overlooking meadows. We enjoyed many a relaxing hour sunning ourselves on the lawn, watching for woodpeckers and chatting to the cows. Inside the house is clean, roomy and full of treasures. It's not like a holiday house at all, it's far more personal. We would absolutely recommend this house to anyone who wants some peace and quiet in the knowledge that the town is a short drive away. The owners are great to deal with too - responsive and generous.

Perfect holiday

Such a wonderful place. The weather was terrible so we had a great excuse to light the fire and enjoy a very relaxing few days! Beautiful country walks (when it wasn't raining!) and delicious home-cooked food. I can't wait to go back!
