The Mount is a tudor style detached house on an elevated site with a curved sloping drive up to house with parking for up to 4 cars. To the rear of the property is a gravelled sitting area with stone steps leading to the large secluded west facing rear garden (laid mainly to grass) with swings and a playhouse. The house provides spacious family accommodation in a quiet location yet within easy reach of coast and town.

My family and I spend a great week here at the end of May 14. The house is fantastic for families. My grandchildren (aged 6,5,4,3) loved that they had a lounge to themselves (so did we). The garden was great when it wasn't raining. Great location to get to all of the east coast. Lovely place to spend a family holiday. Well equipped and felt like home from home.

From the Owner

The local village of Scalby has a very nice feel to it and with it's pub's and shops it is very much alive. The local area has so many nice walks along the river cut or the disused railway line up to Ravenscar you can be miles away but very close to town. Also you have easy access to Scarborough and Whitby at hand.

Nearest Airport : Teesside at 50 Miles Nearest Barpub : In village at 300 Metres Nearest Ferry : Hull at 50 Miles Nearest Golf : North Cliff Scarborough at 2 Miles Nearest Train : Scarborough at 2.5 Miles Nearest Restaurant : In village at 300 Metres Nearest Beach : Scalby Mills at 2 Miles Car: recommended


1.5 miles (5 min drive or 30 min walk) to the coast with the Sea life centre at Scalby Mills, mini train and pedestrian sea front promenade along to the North Bay beach, Castle and attractions.


Car useful but bus routes past house.


Village 200 metres, Scarborough centre 3 miles, coast 1.5 miles, Whitby 20 miles.

As well as the village amenities there are also 2 banks, library, hairdresser, chemist, pub, a petrol station, tea rooms, supermarket and cash machines within 800 metres along the road towards Scarborough

Please contact us to book, we can accept payment by cheque or bank transfer. A 20% deposit is payable on booking with the balance payable 8 weeks before arrival.

Changeover Day:
We are flexible on changeover days and stay durations outside of school holidays so please ask. However during school holidays the changeover day is Friday and we would ask guests to arrive after 4pm and leave the house by 10am on day of departure.

Notes on prices:

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 7 days before check-in date.

  • Notes on accommodation: There is plenty of free parking space at the house and rental includes all cleaning, heating, electric and gas. The house also has free WiFi. Please note we do not accept dogs in the house. On bookings of 5 nights or more discounts will apply to the nightly prices, ask for details. Outside: To the rear of the house is the patio/seating area, a gravelled area and a detached garage with a pool table (coin op 50p/game) and darts plus storage for bikes or buggies. There are 2 charcoal BBQ (charcoal not supplied) for guests use and chairs and glass tables to seat 10. Stone steps lead up to the elevated the large lawned rear garden which is enclosed on 3 sides and makes a great place for the children to run around with swings and a play house. Close by in the village are 2 local general stores, 2 pubs, a tea rooms/restaurant, hairdresser and a beautiful old church. Utility Room: Separate off the kitchen is the utility room with worktops, sink, washer, tumble dryer, hoover, iron and ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Hand and bath towels per person are included which are changed weekly along with all bedding. The property is fully cleaned each week or after each letting but a vacuum cleaner and some cleaning materials are provided for your use during your stay. Other: Separate lounge with 2x settees and armchair (1/2 leather) 28" TV with freeview and DVD player. Gas living flame fire.
