4 Waterhead Terrace is a charming 2 bedroomed Victorian cottage situated at the end of Waterhead Creek in Kingswear. It provides very comfortable accommodation with lovely water and woodland views. There is a huge network of walks through the woods, along the river and to the coast path, all accessible from just outside the door. The green opposite the cottage is a lovely space for picnicking, playing and just relaxing. It’s just a short walking distance from the ferry across the river to Dartmouth and all its amenities.

Lovely cottage

  • 5 of 5

Excellent location and ideal for dog owners. There are plenty of dog walks locally and the creek is ideal for them to swim in. The cottage is comfortable with everything you will need and with a beautiful view of the creek. Would stay again.

What a lovely cottage in a very picturesque location, handy for walks, the river and further afield. A very clean and comfortable cottage with everything you need. We had a super week and will definitely be returning. Loved it.

Great holiday cottage

  • 5 of 5

We arrived to find a warm, spotlessly clean cottage, which was most welcoming as we stayed in the middle of December! It is extremely well-equipped and was very cosy on a winter's evening with the fire lit. We have 2 dogs and the park across the road and local walks were great for them as well as the nearby beaches and coast paths. We used both the upper and lower ferries to explore Dartmouth, the castle and the coast. I would recommend the cottage to anyone and will be booking again in the spring.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the lovely review, Angela works very hard to keep the cottage nice for all our guests and it is great to be relaxing by the fire in the wild winter weather.

Perfect Location

  • 4 of 5

For us with two golden retrievers, this was a perfect location to base ourselves and utilise the surrounding walks from the doorstep. The views from the cottage are idyllic and the cottage itself has all the facilities we expected. The kitchen and bathroom are new, and the rest of the cottage is spacious and well appointed. We have decided to return in the spring and explore the area further. Highly recommended.

4 Waterhead Terrace, Kingswear

  • 5 of 5

The property was just as we expected having read the property details on line and contacted the owner - Great! It was very clean and fresh. The location allowed us to leave the car most days and simply walk. We frequently hopped onto the River Dart Lower Ferry as foot passengers and from Dartmouth were able to explore the estuary and coast. From the house after a short drive we parked in a National Trust car park and walked to Mans Sands beach. Our grown up children enjoyed sea kayaking. We all enjoyed strolling around the town; simply watching the boats travel up and down the river and catching various boat trips; visiting Fishacre and Greenways (National Trust). We would recommend this property to friends and relatives.

Location

From the Owner

Paul and I bought the cottage in Kingswear as a family holiday home. We've spent many happy years holidaying there with family and friends right throughout the year. The cottage was ideal for us as we love walking and boating, the immediate vicinity is very beautiful and peaceful and yet is only a short walk from all the many amenities and activities the wider area offers.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

The beaches of Torbay are all just a 10 to 15 minute drive away but there are coves and beaches all along the coast, the less frequented, quieter beaches are usually dog friendly. The coast path is accessible on foot from the cottage. From the Dartmouth side are further beaches including Blackpool Sands with it's award winning cafe, Slapton Sands at Torcross and other secluded bays past Start Point Lighthouse. A scenic drive takes you further to Kingsbridge, East Portlemouth and Salcombe.

Travel:

Exeter airport is approx. a 40 minute drive away. The steam train from Kingswear links up with the mainline rail network at Paignton and although a car can be useful there are many other ways to travel in the area - boats and ferries, the steam train and a very good bus service.

Distances:

A 10 to 15 min. walk to the ferry (foot passenger and cars) to Dartmouth.

A 10 to 15 min drive to Torbay (Brixham, Paignton and Torquay).

A leisurely boat trip to Dittisham and Greenway and beyond - 13 miles upriver to Totnes.

Further Details:

Kingswear has a post office, a village shop and three pubs, two of which do food. Dartmouth is renowned for its lovely shops and restaurants. The area is great for walking, eating out, wine tasting, museums, zoos, etc. and there are endless opportunities to mess about on the water – from river boat trips and wildlife safaris at sea, to sailing, canoeing and fishing.
