With panoramic views over the hills and village, Penmeva house enjoys a quiet cul-de-sac location above the bustle of Mevagissey, Cornwall. The valley provides a stunning setting for your stay, to be enjoyed from the large balcony, spacious sunny deck and meandering terraced garden. On cooler evenings, you can admire the view and the bird life from the bay window in the comfortable family living room. Mevagissey is still a working fishing harbour and has grown into a busy village with many cafes, inns, shops and restaurants, whilst retaining its character. It is a three-minute walk from the house down the hill to the harbour where you can enjoy an ice cream or coffee, explore the historic alleys or try your luck with the crab lines on the harbour wall. Penmeva is a comfortable, well equipped and attractive house, with proximity to the village and private parking for two vehicles making this an ideal base for families and groups.

A truly lovely comfortable find

This was our second visit and I have to say the recent changes have enhanced what was already a lovely compact but spacious home-from-home. All comforts are provided for and it will suffice to say that we could quite happily live here! The house is centrally-located - a short stroll from the harbourside, although a somewhat strenuous hike back, due to the steep incline that is Tregony Hill! Bracing and uplifting, especially on a bright, cool autumn morning!

delightful and peaceful

The house was lovely and enjoyed the views, some night's we'd sit out and look at the stars, plenty of places to hide away , hill abit steep heading down into mevagissey but got used to it , the harbour was picturesque and had a lovely boat trip around the bays. The only downfall is the parking, we were lucky that the neighbours were laid back on the street and said we could park anywhere but it is abit of a bind but cannot fault the house and area , we wanted some peace from our normal lives and noisy traffic and we certainly got it there, thank you for letting us stay .

Lovely house with amazing views

We were a party of 7 consisting of 2 families with 3 children aged between 2-6. We all had a lovely time, the house was well equipped and had everything we needed. It's a very short walk to the harbour down a steep hill, we all managed this walk with no problems. The house is well situated for the local beaches we visited 3 all of which were a short drive away. Only negative is that the decking could really do with being more enclosed it would make it much safer for younger children, but don't let this put you off if you do have children it's still ok to use, you will just need to supervise young children at all times. Would recommend and come back again.

This was a perfect location for when we wanted to stroll down into Mevagissey for fish and chips or a special meal. We loved sitting out on the lovely balcony enjoying the stunning views and having a family barbecue using the wonderful facilities. We would highly recommend this lovely house and hope to return one day.

A lovely, well-equipped property in great location for exploring Cornwall.

35 Penmeva was an excellent base for our coastal path walking and visits to the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Eden Project both of which are very close. It was great that there were also basic household and kitchen supplies for our use, and a good range of kitchen utensils etc. Mevagissey is only a short walk away and has an abundance of small and interesting shops plus some good restaurants. Good booking and check-in arrangements and would definitely recommend to others.

Fantastic break!

Fantastic house in so many ways. Great balcony with awesome views, lovely BBQ area and the beds where we had the best nights sleep ever! A lovely gesture of a bottle of wine in the fridge and shortbread biscuits upon our arrival. So peaceful and yet only a 2 minute walk from the gorgeous harbour. Highly recommended and will return again.

The house is a 3-minute walk from Mevagissey village centre and harbour front.

It is a short drive to Pentewan beach (5 minutes) and Gorran Haven, Vault and Caerhays beaches (10 minutes). All have parking available.


Mevagissey is approximately 8 miles from the nearest train station in St Austell. Taxi services and direct buses are available.

Further Details:

Mevagissey lies within an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Mevagissey Feast Week in June and the Christmas and New Year celebrations are particular highlights of the annual calendar.

Energetic guests may choose to follow the coastal path to the sandy beaches at Gorran Haven and Pentewan, where a family leisure centre provides a pool with water slides and extensive play area.

For garden lovers, The Lost Gardens of Heligan are about three miles away by footpath or a few minutes by car; the Eden Project is within ten miles.

The convenience of St Austell’s shops, supermarkets and cinema are a ten-minute drive away.

Take the regular half-hour ferry to the historic town of Fowey and enjoy the scenic views of the bay.

Fishing, sea kayaking and cycling all to be enjoyed from just outside your door.
