What a lovely holiday we had, staying in 3 The Manor. The bungalow was everything we hoped for and more. We visited Sandymouth, which is just beautiful, Summerleaze Beach, walked along the canal, dined at Bay View Inn at Widemouth Bay, had a walk and cream tea at Padstow... we could go on and on. To sum up, we had a wonderful time!

Great location for exploring area

  • 4 of 5

Practical, comfortable, simply but thoughtfully equipped chalet, providing an excellent base for exploring the area at a very reasonable price. Great for families, with plenty of wet weather alternatives to the beach - the Milky Way was a big hit with our two-year-old, as was the children's entertainer on the Penstowe Manor site. Excellent communication/customer service from friendly and helpful owner.

Wonderful birthday break

  • 4 of 5

A lovely holiday home with all the comforts you need. Immaculately clean and very warm. In a country setting but near to towns and beaches, great for exploring. Site facilities are excellent too. Fabulous pizzas on site, first class fish and chip shop around corner and great pub in Bude, what more do you need. We will definitely be back, big thank you to the owners.

a great break in a lovely refurbished chalet

  • 5 of 5

Penstowe is a bit of a hidden gem. We've been a few times - but this time the accommodation was the best we've had and the weather was great too. If you look at the Hoseasons site some people have mentioned their accommodation was a bit damp. Not so here. The chalet was lovely, obviously recently refurbished, and decorated in a seaside shabby chic style which is just what you want when holidaying in the South West. The refurbishment and the little touches made all the difference compared to our previous stays. We had a great time at Sandymouth and Bude. The kids loved it too - especially the 7-8pm slot at the Manor with Captain Crumble. I also liked the gym. £25 for a week's gym pass was money well spent. Recommended.

Fantastic Week in Bude!

  • 5 of 5

We've just got home from a week in Bude and really can't fault this place. It had everything that my family needed. Our parents where staying in Janes other property (Manor 3) and they also have the same opinion with us. It's such a cool, peaceful place and we loved all of the beachy touches around the place, it did get a bit chilly during the night but soon warmed up during the day with the sunlight shining right through to the living area. It is on a pay as you go electric metre and we spent about £15 on electric which we thought wasn't bad. We are definetly looking to come back next year!

If it's your first time in Bude I would absolutly recommend taking a visit to Duckpool Beach, only a few miles up the road with very few people there, with just breathtaking views that will make you speechless and appreciate life!

Bright, modern, beautifully decorated property

  • 5 of 5

We were very impressed with the décor in this property. After reading other negative reviews for Penstowe Manor I was worried it might be damp & smelly but I couldn't have been more wrong. Very tastefully decorated with lovely finishing touches. The kitchen was well stocked & the beds were comfortable with immaculate bedding. The facilities on site were also very good, the nightime entertainment was fun for all & the kids looked forward to the evenings & enjoyed the small amusement arcade. There were kids clubs available but we didn't use them. The only downside was the slope outside was too steep to allow the kids to play outside but this wasn't important to us. If we visited the area I would not hesitate in re-booking

Coast/Beach:

The nearest beach is Sandymouth, 3 miles away. Bude, with Summerleaze and Crooklets beach, is internationally famous for surfing. There are surf schools and plenty of wetsuit/board hire shops. Other beaches nearby are Northcott Mouth, Duckpool, Widemouth Bay... it goes on and on! The area also offers excellent opportunities for walking, golfing, horse riding and fishing. Go star gazing on the beach at night - you'll be amazed by how many stars you can see without the usual light pollution

We do recommend a car as public transport is limited in this area.

Nearest train station - Exeter/Barnstaple. There is a bus which runs from Exeter to Bude and back.
