Farmhouse in Cluny, South Burgundy - Peaceful Location With Magnificent Views

This spacious & most comfortable property is situated 2km northwest of the beautiful medieval town of Cluny, whose vast abbey and monastery, founded in AD 910, were once home to the Benedictine order. Once a ramshackle farmstead, it was recently transformed by the elegant addition of a front staircase & porch, and now stands quietly proud in its 5 hectares (12½ acres) of fenced sunny hillside, bedecked with woods & large meadows. The design makes it possible for two family groups to holiday separately together - one in the original farmhouse, the other in the new interconnected apartment, with overflow accommodation in the observation tower above the garage - ideal for teenagers. Shops, bars, restaurants etc are to be found in Cluny, as is bicycle hire & horseriding.

For cyclists - France's first genuine 'Voie Verte', running from Chalon to Mâcon, is a cycleway which is over 70 km long, and runs through Cluny and past sloping vineyards, châteaux and the scenery of the Saône-et-Loire; secure and flat, it follows the course of an old railway line. It includes a 1,600m tunnel with lighting, which opens onto the heart of the famous Val Lamartinien.
