2 Bedrooms with Sea Views, 2 Bathrooms, short walk to St.Catherine's Lighthouse

The Barn stands behind the gates and stone walls and in the grounds of a Grade II Listed Farmhouse. A former cow shed, built during the 19th century, The Barn has been restored from a near ruin and is now a spacious and comfortable holiday home fully furnished in a contemporary style to a high and luxurious standard equipped with all the modern day comforts you might need.

The ground floor has an open plan living room with exposed stone wall and a wood burning stove to keep you cosy on chilly evenings. The dining area with its original Ercol table is adjacent to the custom built kitchen and there are doors onto a terraced private garden, perfect for pre-dinner drinks or al fresco dining on summer days. There is underfloor air source heating and radiators for extra comfort in winter months.

The kitchen has everything that you'll need for a stress free holiday (if you feel like cooking) with a built in oven, hob, fridge / freezer, microwave and a washing machine and dryer to deal with wet swimming costumes and towels. If you just want to kick back and relax then there is a Freesat TV, DVD, a sound dock and charger and free WiFI. Also on the ground floor is a large bathroom with walk in shower, bath, basin and wc..

During the restoration, the roof was raised to create space for two bedroom upstairs - a double bedroom with south facing sea views and a comfy king size bed and Freesat TV for lazy mornings, and a twin room also with views to the sea. Both rooms have access to a wc and basin on this floor and have been decorated with crisp linens, throws and cushions.

The Barn has it's own private south facing garden with sea glimpses and has been planted with sun loving flowers and shrubs which thrive in the warm south Island microclimate. In the garden shed you will find deckchairs, clothes airer, parasol and a BBQ.

Buddle Barn is the ideal holiday base for walkers, cyclists and those with a passion for the great outdoors.

Located on the southernmost tip of the Isle of Wight just a few hundred yards from St.Catherine's Lighthouse and surrounded by National Trust down land and in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty it's perfect for walks along the Undercliff which is one of the Island's most dramatic and unspoiled stretches of coastline.

Niton village is within walking distance of Buddle Place where you'll find the grocer's shop, post office, tea room and chemist. Close by is the Buddle Inn, a smuggler's inn with its flagstone floors, roaring fires and beams.

Ventnor is the closest town, a minute drive away and for those with children, Blackgang Chine, the oldest theme park in Britain, is a couple of miles down the road.

I saw this barn some 28 years by peeking over the stone wall! I never dreamed that I would actually end up living here.

What makes this barn unique

Buddle Place is situated under the Gore Cliff & has its own micro climate. We are able to grow tender plants that would not normally survive else where.

There is off street parking for one car in the Stable Yard shared with Buddle Place. Further parking just outside the gates. Driveway not suitable for low sprung cars. Utility Room: Utility room in the garage attached to The Stable with large sink for washing wetsuits, tumble-drier & hanging rail plus storage for bikes & surfboards. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included & are changed weekly. Beach towels not provided. High chair & Travel cot also available (linen not included). Other: Entrance Lobby with coat hooks and bench.

The Barn is quiet and really well appointed with very comfortable beds, a well planned and equipped kitchen, spacious living area, private parking, a lovely garden and considerate owners. A really good place to stay.

Excellent accommodation

My husband, young baby and I stayed here for a long weekend in late Oct. the barn was better than we could have hoped for. It was a perfect location with sea views and less than 5 mins from the Buddle Inn. The property was newly renovated to a high standard. Two good sized bedrooms, underfloor heating, well equipped and cosy. The garden wasn't used due to the weather but it looked great for summertime. The owner, Jay, popped in to see us one day with flowers for the table and a clothes airer as we have a small baby and she thought it would be useful for washing - very thoughtful. We would definitely recommend this place and will hopefully be returning ourselves next year.

Coast/Beach:

St.Catherine's Lighthouse is a two minute walk. Castlehaven beach is 5 minutes, but only accessed at low tide over the rocks. A ten minute drive will take you to lovely sandy beaches at Steephill Cove & Ventnor. Compton Bay is a 20 minute drive, perfect for body boarding.

Travel:

Cross to the Island from either Portsmouth or Lymington via Wightlink ferries or from Southampton via Red Funnel

Distances:

Niton village is a 10 minute walk away with grocer, pub, post office/Tearoom, chemist & general store.

The Buddle Inn country pub serving food is a few hundred yards away.

Further Details:

Well behaved pets welcome apart from July & August, supplement £30.Dogs are not allowed upstairs or on the furniture.

Short breaks during low season.
