We also run a summer season and with the addition of the JACUZZI in the garden (refreshing in the summer and hot and steamy in the winter) we feel set for both summer and winter seasons, helping our clients with local knowledge of the area, places to visit, eat and to enjoy this vast fertile but mountainous area. This is a wonderful base for exploring the Aosta Valley with its, castles, vineyards, cheese making factories and an abundance of outdoor sports and the winter ski resort is ideal for both beginners and experienced skiers with the option of also going to La Thuile and Courmayeur all on one ski pass!!

jane stanton purchased this apartment in 2009

Why jane stanton chose Valle d'Aosta

We are centrally located for exploring the whole of the Aosta Valley during the summer months plus there is brilliant skiing during winter with 3 other resorts in close proximity which you can go to all on one ski pass. We love the Italian people, the food, the ambience and the wine is of course fantastico!!

Jane is an English teacher and can offer English lessons to visitors at the chalet, David is a squash coach and is happy to play or coach anyone anytime of the year and he's also a reasonable Tennis player and always up for a game in the summer. Both David and Jane taught jive at the surrey university so if you fancy learning jive they are happy to accommodate a lesson or two!

The property is set amongst vineyards but just 5 minutes from the lovely Roman City of Aosta.

We have useful local knowledge, however the area is vast and we discover more and more each day.

The area is steeped in history & is a wine growing area, also making cheese & growing fruits of many kinds. It is very agricultural and particularly cow farming is very prevalent.

There is a huge abundance of outdoor activities which you can see listed on our website. There are castles, art galleries, concerts and wood carving is a much loved Valdostaine work

Wonderful Stay near Aosta / Pila

  • 5 of 5

We went mountain biking in Pila for a week to enjoy fast steep dusty trails on the Down Hill bikes having been there a few times before for day trips over from France.

This year (July 2017) we decided a week at Pila would be awesome and chose to stay with David and Jane . taking the middle and top flooors for our party we all loved the chalet and hosts hospitality.

The photographs on the JDSki web site dont do the chalet any justice at all and its much much nicer than the photos make it look. I mentioned this to the hosts so hopefully they'll take more at some point.

Views are stunning and the hot tub was nice too, with superb views as you sip a cold beer.

Highly recommended place to stay.

Val d'Aosta Charm

  • 5 of 5

We loved the place very much. The apartment is well equipped with everything you need to enjoy yourself while you're away from home. The location of the chalet is high above the valley with nice view. It took us less the half an hour to reach each trail hed in the Gran Paradiso.

Jane and David were generous by supplying everything we've asked for. They've provided us useful information about places to see including maps.

We'll be happy to return to the chalet in the future.

Family Skiing Holiday

  • 5 of 5

Had a fantastic half term break with David and Jane skiing in Pila. As there were 5 of us, we had a floor to ourselves, which was really good and we made plenty of use of the Jacuzzi despite the cold - very relaxing after a days skiing. Pila was a brilliant resort, very compact, but plenty of variety on the blue and red runs and everything empties into the central area, so hard to get lost. The ski lessons that David, Jane and the crew gave were so good. We were split into small groups according to ability and given tailor made lessons, so my skills were honed and I was introduced to carving, my eldest son was also in my group, so likewise gained experience, my middle son went from a beginner to a competent skier happily skiing reds, my youngest daughter developed her skills and got moved into our group and my wife went from a nervous skier who hadn't been on the slopes for 17 years to skiing reds again.

Staying in the chalet was enjoyable with the food being served excellent and the atmosphere created by the hosts making for a very relaxing and enjoyable evening.

Cannot recommend taking this opportunity to go skiing with David and Jane enough.

Great place with great hosts

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 4 enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and comfortable with a great view across the valley. It is located a short drive from Aosta and has a grocery store and restaurants even closer. The location is ideal for getting anywhere in the Aosta Valley and even all the way to Turin. The hosts are also great and are easy to communicate with and love to share information about the valley or to assist with reserving restaurants. Would stay again.
