A lovely Chalet in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay in Pila - the chalet is in a great location for everything in the area really whether summer or winter. The owners Jane & David are very friendly and helpful and we felt our stay overall was great value for money. The Jacuzzi was a lovely touch with fabulous views! Easy drive from Calais too! Thanks for a wonderful week!

Great place with great hosts

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 4 enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and comfortable with a great view across the valley. It is located a short drive from Aosta and has a grocery store and restaurants even closer. The location is ideal for getting anywhere in the Aosta Valley and even all the way to Turin. The hosts are also great and are easy to communicate with and love to share information about the valley or to assist with reserving restaurants. Would stay again.

Tidy renovated farmhouse in Alpine valley

  • 5 of 5

The setting is magnificent with snowcaps on all sides even in July. Monte Binaco is just out of sight. From the lodging there is a great view up and down the valley. By car it is about 10 minutes from Aosta where there are Roman walls and ruins, pedestrianised cobbled streets, and plenty of atmosphere. There are a huge number of walks and trails decorated by wildflowers while we were there.

The place itself used to be a farmhouse where animals were kept over winter on the ground floor, people lived on the second floor, and hay for the animals was stored on the third, which is graced by huge timber beams supporting a stone roof. It has been done up to a very high standard, and you wouldn't imagine it was once a barn. Flat is fabulous and kitchen has everything you need. Great jacuzzi too!

It was really hot when we were there, but cool inside with tile floors and easily ventilated by the evening breeze.

Jane and David gave us lots of friendly help regarding things to do and explore. Nothing was too much trouble.

Really pleasant stay and we will be back.

Amazing time. Thank you

  • 5 of 5

Great to return with my husband for an early walking and relaxing holiday. Weather was already warm and what a vast area to see, every time we come there is so much to discover. Looking forward to returning for two girlie weekends with friends in August and especially looking forward to seeing the St Bernards at the top of the pass with my friends little girl. Shall be returning some time in the winter for a weeks skiing. Such a friendly place with good hospitality and a great place with good individual advice and very welcoming. Thanks Dave and Jane.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much Steve and Amanda for visiting again and looking forward Amanda to the two weekends you have booked with friends. We can definitely tailor make both of them. I understand the first will be with one of your young friends and there is plenty for the little one to do and later in the month a real girls holiday, so some adult soaking in the Jacuzzi, drinking and dancing at the local Lido sounds a good idea for you.

Excellent Stay!!!!

  • 5 of 5

David and Jane were really hospitable and friendly. They welcomed us and made us feel at home and at ease. The apartment was clean and exactly as described. It was the perfect place to explore the local area and beyond. Their knowledge of the local area was brilliant and helpful. We would definitely stay there again. Been home a few hours and can't wait to get back. We highly recommend this property to anyone wishing to discover the Italian Alps.

From the Owner

We are centrally located for exploring the whole of the Aosta Valley during the summer months plus there is brilliant skiing during winter with 3 other resorts in close proximity which you can go to all on one ski pass. We love the Italian people, the food, the ambience and the wine is of course fantastico!! Jane is an English teacher and can offer English lessons to visitors at the chalet, David is a squash coach and is happy to play or coach anyone anytime of the year and he's also a reasonable Tennis player and always up for a game in the summer. Both David and Jane taught jive at the surrey university so if you fancy learning jive they are happy to accommodate a lesson or two! The property is set amongst vineyards but just 5 minutes from the lovely Roman City of Aosta. We have useful local knowledge, however the area is vast and we discover more and more each day. The area is steeped in history & is a wine growing area, also making cheese & growing fruits of many kinds. It is very agricultural and particularly cow farming is very prevalent. There is a huge abundance of outdoor activities which you can see listed on our website. There are castles, art galleries, concerts and wood carving is a much loved Valdostaine work
