About the property

Character Barn in the heart of South West Of Cornwall: St Ives Bay to Penzance

Situated equally between the north and south coasts in an elevated central position, overlooking St. Ives Bay, Penzance/Mounts Bay, the West of Cornwall and the commercial ships harboured across in Falmouth/Porthleven. Positioned on a popular cycling route 26 miles from Lands End,with challenging climbs to match, it provides the best of all worlds close to both north and south surf beaches (should the wind and swell change direction). Ideal base for keen walkers, near to old mineral tramway/cycle routes, the historic mining areas & cultural buildings of West Cornwall - yet a retreat away from it all if peace and tranquillity is required. Simply a stunning secret retreat location. Full privacy and time to relax.

"Spring is finally here and its a joy staying in the barn surrounded by fields full of blooming yellow daffodils. Definitely nice treat to see the primroses shooting up, which is why we love coming to Cornwall at this time of year".

"Thank you for providing so much local information & giving personalised recommendations, it really is very helpful and will mean we can enjoy our holiday from the moment we arrive at the Barn!"

"Many thanks!! We've really enjoyed our holiday here - the Barn is lovely & in a perfect position for exploring. We have lots which make us want to return!"

"Great location, peaceful, beautiful conversion, well equipped interior, courtyard & garden for evening BBQs, superb personalised map with helpful routes, access to wi-fi to check the weather & what's on around the area...thank you"

"Fabulous field alongside with views, the silence & peaceful break was wonderful. Feel fully relaxed and enjoyed quality time together. The log burner with a glass of wine was wonderful in the autumn evening. Will see you again..."

"The kids loved getting up to play in the field with the dog and we enjoyed our private BBQs together as a family and your Cornish monopoly game! Fab holiday, would definitely recommend"

Fantastic-highly recommend

  • 5 of 5

The whole experience from booking to leaving the barn was excellent. Angela communicated with us before our stay offering advice and was quick to respond to any query.

The property itself was so clean and well furnished to a high standard. The kitchen was very well equipped and we were even given a basket of logs for the log burner and a welcome snack which was appreciated.

Angela was so helpful when it came to us asking about good places to visit.

The location may look rural but it is ideal for visiting any part of Cornwall as it is so central and the views are incredible. I would definitely look to rebook!

A get away from it all -stunning picturesque stay

  • 5 of 5

This is a perfect property to get away from it all- in a beautiful setting with stunning views across Cornwall. A great base for touring around Cornwall. The property was perfect if your travelling with a dog! A lovely large meadow to throw the ball in. We are a family of 4 with 2 children. They loved the freedom --it's very safe and secure to play in the field and garden. There is a lovely back yard to have breakfast outside each morning - a good suntrap and a bbq on the front for evening meals which we made good use of. There is a lovely wood burner which I'm sure would make cosy evenings in but we were very lucky with the weather and didn't need it! The accommodation was of the highest standard. Really well presented with great attention to detail. Perfect for a family or couple. Angela was the perfect host both very welcoming and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and would readily return again.

Perfect location and holiday home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Stone gate Barn at the end of October 2014. The location was perfect, our dog had a lovely field to play in, and the accommodation was as described by the owner. We were really pleased with the facilities, everything that you could possibly think of was provided. The property was spotlessly clean, and very well maintained. The owner was very helpful with suggestions of places we could visit, and some that were out of the way which was perfect for us. The owner was also very friendly, whilst respecting our privacy. I would highly recommend this property to my friends and family. The only place we visited that I wouldn't recommend was Lands End, because we thought it was a bit of a rip off. You pay to park, pay to see certain things, and even have to pay if you want your photo taken next to the Lands End signpost. We went to St Michaels Mount, had a lovely cream tea!! Some of the more local beaches. Had a lovely fish and chip supper in Falmouth. Drove through St Ives because it was so busy, but not much to see. We took our two teen aged sons with us, thought that they would get bored, but even they were amazed with the beautiful cornish scenery.

I forgot to mention the lovely log burner in the property, and I also fell in love with the front door, as mad as that sounds, you will have to see it for yourself.
