Mavi Manzara translates to Blue View in English, and the apartment has the most superb views of the Mediterranean and "Mouse" and "Snake" islands in Kalamar Bay. The complex is small with only 3 apartments sharing the infinity pool, and 4 separate villas with their own pools and gardens. Mavi Manzara is south facing and enjoys plenty of sunshine, but still has shaded areas. There are olive grows to the west and behind the complex and some of the old trees have been kept in the back garden. The area is very peaceful, yet less than 15 min. walk takes you to the centre of picturesque Kalkan with it's roof top restaurants, lovely shops and beautiful harbour. The apartment was completed June 2013 and is finished and equipped to the highest standards for our guests to enjoy a relaxing holiday. There is always a caretaker on site to assist upon arrivals and departures, and also during most hours of the day. Should you prefer to hire a car, the apartment has it's own carport.

I am going to write a full review for you to put onto the Owners Direct Website, although i firstly wanted to thank you personally on behalf of Amy and I.

Its safe to say we both had an amazing 9 days in Kalkan. The apartment is unbelievable, the location is great, it was quiet, the views are stunning and the weather was fantastic.

We both really appreciate all the help you gave us and the recommendations you made on the run up to the holiday. From the minute we left Dalaman Airport everything was really straight forward and plain sailing and to sit out on the balcony with a beer after all that travelling was our idea of the perfect start to our holiday.

You have a really amazing property and offer a really good service. Amy and I will certainly be recommending to friends and family and would also definitely consider staying again, once we have ticked a few other countries off our list!.

Classy

We were two couples who'd each stayed at the nearby Ekin Han hotel the previous year. We hired a Fiat Doblo from Dalaman Cars and had a lovely 11 days at Mavi Manzara. The apartment itself was bigger, classier and better equipped than we'd expected and we loved the spectacular views, outside spaces and location. The lovely infinity pool (which got a little fresh by late Sept) is shared with two other apartments, but even when both were occupied for part of our stay there was plenty of space with comfortable sunbeds and sun umbrellas for all. Even the welcome was great; arriving past midnight we drove straight into our carport and Junus was there to help us up with the luggage (lots of steps but fantastic views) and there was a comprehensive welcome pack in the kitchen. There are plenty of good restaurants within walking distance, eg Brothers, Yelkin, Vito and House and we also enjoyed meals out at Islamlar etc. Having a car made it easy to vary things, local beach club (Kulube excellent), mountain walks, ancient Lycian/Roman sites, Kas and beaches (loved Kaputas, less so Patara). The sea was lovely and warm. Having a car also made shopping for supplies simple. Inside the aircon units are superb - they are so quiet and go to very low fan speeds so we could have a trickle of 25C air at night. The top bedroom + en suite is lovely but our friends were so happy with the downstairs twin bedroom and main bathroom that we didn't do our planned half way swap of rooms. Breakfasts and a couple of dinners out on the lower terrace were great and overall it felt so much better (and cheaper) than being in a hotel. One highlight was drinks on the upper terrace at dusk then a rotisserie chicken dinner outside downstairs.

Perfect...as always!

We have been going to Kalkan for the last 8 years and have stayed in some lovely villas and apartments but this is the only apartment we keep coming back to.....this was our 3rd stay. Ragnhild makes the whole booking process so easy and the lovely welcome hamper is such a lovely touch.

Amazing property, amazing views.

As soon as we opened the door of this wonderful apartment, we were thrilled with all aspects. Everything had been thought of to make our stay extra special. Ragnhild had arranged a wonderful welcome hamper which contained everything and more we needed on our arrival.

The apartment was spotlessly clean and the views of Kalamar bay were breath-taking. We would thoroughly recommend this apartment to friends. Thank you again Ragnhild.

A wonderful holiday

We arranged the booking of the apartment very quickly and efficiently with Ragnhild with confirmation and welcome details received immediately.

The apartment is part of small development of apartments and villas on the hillside above Kalkan and shares its pool with two other apartments (which were both vacant during our stay). The apartment is modern, immaculate, and with a high end feel and fittings. It has everything you might need for your stay and is very well equipped.

The pool and grounds are very well maintained and an extremely lovely place to spend time during your holiday. The views from the apartment and the pool are wonderful.

The apartment is located away from the main town so it is a walk down the hill into Kalkan however there are supermarkets and restaurants nearby as well.

The whole process was very easy with regular contact from Ragnhild and the deposit was immediately returned on return from our holiday.

I would highly recommend the apartment and would definitely consider returning. Thanks Ragnhild!

Excellent all round

This is a great apartment for four people with all mod cons. It is just as portrayed on the web site. There is a very private pool which is generally only shared with one other apartment. I don't think the third apartment with access to the pool on the ground floor is ever let out and we never saw anyone. You just cannot beat the views from the apartment. It is so peaceful and relaxing, it is what you work all year for. The jacuzzi bath on the rooftop is also a nice touch. There are some steps up to the apartment so it would not be suitable for people with walking difficulties, but I think this is made clear. We had great comms from the owner from when we booked to getting our breakage deposit refunded. This place is a real gem and we will be going back when we can. To stop any disappointment I would say "book early as this will soon be booked out!! ". It is about a 20 minute walk into the town centre, where there are many restaurants, it is up hill for much of the way back, but it is good for a walk after dinner. ( You can always get a taxi for 5-6 pounds if you don't want to walk.) There is a small supermarket a very short walk away that has most basic needs. We also ate in the three restaurants a short walk away (Aqua, Vita, and the Ekinhan hotel and had good meals every time). We also went to the Ekinhan quite a few lunch times for a wrap or salad and always had good service and food (also great views out to sea). We went on a few trips and hired a private boat for the day (Maya boat is highly recommended, captain is Soner). We had a great two weeks and it is highly recommended.

I first visited Kalkan with my family in 2006, after having spent many happy holidays in different locations in Turkey for the past 2 decades. We were all very moved by Kalkan's beauty and friendliness. There is something very special about this place that makes you want to return! There are a lot of places around the Med with much easier and cheaper access, but when you arrive Kalkan - it's all worth the journey!

Coast/Beach:

Kalamar Beach Club with sunbathing platforms, restaurant, water sports and diving school is only 5min. walk from the apartment. Kalkan has a small, clean pebble beach which will take you about 15min. to walk to. From Kalkan harbour you can also catch a free taxi boat to one of the other Beach Clubs in the bay. Patara Beach is about 20min. drive away by car or local bus (dolmus). Patara is a 12km long, sandy beach and home to endangered turtles. Kaputas Beach is about a 15min. drive east.

Travel:

The airport nearest to Kalkan is Dalaman. There are numerous flights from regional UK and London airports to chose from, both with the low cost and charter airlines. The transfer time is approx. 1 1/2 hrs. Private transfers can be arranged.

Distances:

The pretty town of Kas with it's impressive new marina is about 25min. drive away, and Fethiye is 1hr. drive, both towns has picturesque harbours and weekly markets. There are several archaeological sites to visit; Patra (near the beach) is the birth place of St. Nicholas, Xanthos and Letoon are also archaeological sights. You can also experience Kekova (the sunken city), Saklikent Gorge, The church in Demre (Myra) where St. Nicholas was bishop, and much, much more.

Further Details:

It's beauty, unique atmosphere and friendliness makes Kalkan truly magical and very special. It has a great range of restaurants from traditional Turkish to more cosmopolitan. At the peak of the summer, Kalkan offers in excess of 100 restaurants to chose from. Many of the restaurants in the old town are located on the rooftops, others around the harbour and some of the more traditional ones (quite often very good value) a bit further up in town. Kalamar has also got several restaurants and supermarkets - just around the corner from the apartment. Kalkan has a great selection of shops if you like to purchase carpets, kilims, leather, jewellery and more. There are plenty of cash points, banks, pharmacies, supermarkets and the town has it's own medical centre.

There are a number of activities on offer, these can be booked via agents in the town, or directly; Boat trips are available from the harbour daily, diving school at Kalamar Beach Club, horse riding, paragliding and canoeing.

The famous Lycian way (trekking route) passes by Kalkan and covers more than 500 km of this spectacular coastline.

Mavi Manzara (Blue View) is located in a very tranquil and beautiful corner of Kalkan, Kalamar. Yet, it only takes 10-15 min. walk to get you to the middle of town. The walk is not terribly hilly either (for Kalkan..). Sade Construction Ltd. who has build Kalamar Homes have a superb reputation, and are very proud of their work; everything is finished to an extremely high standard, and service and maintenance are first class. We are looking forward to spending as much time in our apartment as possible, and hope our guests will enjoy it as much as we do!

  • Notes on accommodation: Free WiFi and safe in master bedroom. Outside: Mavi Manzara is one of only 3 Deluxe apartments sharing a good sized infinity pool (12 x 3.8m) and a large communal sunbathing area with sun loungers and parasols. The pool will normally be filled from Easter until the end of October, and is cleaned daily. The pool is about 1.6m deep and is unsupervised - guests with young children must take care. The gardens are beautifully landscaped and the seating area under the pergola at the back of the apartment is ideal for a cooling afternoon drink! Utility Room: Washing machine is located in the storage room off the master en-suite on the 2nd floor. In the 1st floor utility room there is an ironing board, iron, hoover and a brush. A stand for drying clothes is in the storage room directly off the top terrace. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen, bath towels and beach towels are provided. The apartment will be cleaned and bed linen/towels changed weekly.
