Higham Farmhouse was recently renovated in 2010 and since entering the rental market has proved to be an ideal venue for many large groups whether it be for a family celebration for a notable birthday or wedding Anniversary or alternately University reunions, hen parties, stag parties or even a religious retreat. Higham has also hosted sewing, walking or bird watching groups.The high number of bathrooms is a particular advantage and the house provides spacious accommodation whilst retaining a real 'home from home' atmosphere.

About Clare Holdstock

With my husband and daughter we run a family farm in Kent. Higham Farmhouse was divided into two by my father-in-law and housed farm employees. In 2010 we found both halves were empty and took this opportunity to renovate this historic house. We now let the house in order to pay for the restoration and feel far more involved welcoming guests, than letting it out long term.

Clare Holdstock purchased this farmhouse in 1949

Notes on accommodation: Higham Farmhouse is fully Centrally Heated with three additional Wood Burning Stoves downstairs and all logs are provided. Outside: The exclusive Garden has a large grassed area at the front ideal for ball games. There is a cosy traditional garden at the side including a patio area and barbecue.The garden can be fully enclosed to keep children safely inside. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed Linen & Bath & hand towels are provided and the house is cleaned on a Weekly basis.

Loved the cottage and it's in a beautiful location

We are a party of 12 (including one infant)... Four generations of the same family. The cottage suited all our needs. Claire welcomed us with cakes and tea. We are booking again this year. The cottage is clean and well maintained.

Perfect gorgeous 5 star cottage! We loved it!

Absolutely lovely property with plenty of space to enjoy a great get away with friends and family. (We had 8 adults but the cottage could comfortably accommodate more).

Set in beautiful countryside, (flowers blooming outside the kitchen window in December!) this cottage is ideal for getting away from it all, but is still a manageable distance from Canterbury.

This property was exactly as described and much more besides. Bigger than it looks in the pictures and maintained to a very high standard. We loved the luxurious ensuite bathrooms. The whole place was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed, the log burners made it especially cosy in the evenings. A very good pub within easy walking distance too!

All in all this was an excellent place to see in the new year with friends and family, would absolutely recommend it!

...and the mince pies were a lovely welcome, thank you!

East Kent has numerous attractive beaches. The nearest is Minnis Bay just outside Birchington, 20 minutes away by car. Other attractive resorts include Palm Bay, Joss Bay, Margate ,Broadstairs & Folkestone.

Travel:

Manston Nearest Airport. Sturry nearest Train Station, 20 miles from Dover.

Distances:

Stodmarsh 1.5 miles

Canterbury 3 miles

Fordwich 1.5 miles or 20 minutes via wooded path on foot.

Further Details:

3 pubs within a hearty walk. Situated on the famous Stour Valley Walk and cycle route 1 from Canterbury. World Famous Stodmarsh Nature Reserve 2 miles down the road.Discounted Riding Lessons can be taken on the farm with Trenley Park Liveries and Coarse Fishing is also available on the farm through Canterbury & District Angling Association.
