About the Owner

We started skiing in Morillon in 2003 when we had another apartment in the village. In 2006 we had the opportunity to buy a larger apartment, which we refurbished and have enjoyed many holidays in Criou 2 throughout the year.

We have two younger children and two in their early twenties, and the Grand Massif offers enough skiing for all of us, the older two board and ski while we try to keep up with the younger two. Our favourite run has to be Marvel, a 5km green run.

Fantastic family accommodation!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed as 2 families with 3 young kids over the Easter break & absolutely loved it. Morillon is a fantastic family resort & the apartment was ideally located for our needs with the nursery slopes just down the hill & the main chairlift so close for a speedy get away after the kids were safely dropped at ski school!

The apartment is lovely & spacious, equipped with everything you could possibly need in the kitchen (we love to cook) and the satellite TV & DVD library was also great for chilling out in the evening.

The owners were extremely helpful with tips & recommendations for our first visit to the resort & their contact managing the apartment was also lovely checking a few times throughout the week that everything was ok for us.

We Would highly recommend this apartment & we certainly hope to be back!

Great Apartment for groups

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this lovely apartment 15th -22nd March 2014, after booking it based on location and practicality of rooms (5 adults).

We go Skiing once or twice per year and usually like to be "On the Piste" for Ski in/Out, this fitted the bill being so close to the main chair lift (Sairon), you could ski to the locker and then up 3 (and a half) flights of stairs into the spacious apartment. As there were only 5 of us there was plenty of room with 3 beds and a mezannine, 2 toilets and 3 showers. Apartment was clean/Modern and well fitted out, the dishwasher and washing machine came in handy ;-)

There are plenty of DVD's to watch should you suffer an injury or want a day off, also the UK Freeview came in handy for watching Match of the day and Champions Leage football. Would recommend this apartment to families and groups fo friends. Excellent!

Half Term Skiing

  • 5 of 5

We had an absolutely fantastic weeks skiing. The apartment is in prime location for slopes, restaurants, supermarket, ski hire, lesson meeting points and you can ski to within 1m of the ski locker room.

The apartment sleeps 9 without the need to convert any sofa's etc and has fantastic views of the slopes.

We would love to return, many thanks.

Ski Morillon Feb

  • 5 of 5

Just completed a weeks skiing at Morillon 1100 staying in this lovely apartment. Lots of friendly faces and comments from people working at the ski lifts restaurants and shops. The apartment was excellent, clean spacious and well equipped with a prime view over the slopes. Particularly good was the entrance area for storage of ski suits etc and so nice to have plenty of sofa space and a decent size TV with UK channels. The layout of the bedrooms is ideal for 2 families with children and the apartment can properly accommodate 9 people as opposed to some where you are shoe horned into every available space. This truly is a ski in/out apartment made even better by the fact that the ski locker is only 2 steps from the snow. The skiing in Morillon itself is limited to a handful of slopes which whilst great fun may not challenge more experienced skiers, that said the rest of the Grand Massif is easily accessed via the main 4 man lift. This can get busy at times especially at morning rush hour but if you plan your departure from the apartment right you can easily beat the rush which mainly seems to come from the gondola serving Morillon village below. This is the best value for money apartment we have stayed in in 6 years of family skiing. We will return.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review, what you have written is the reasons we bought the apartment - ski to door, room for adults and children to be able to relax after a days skiing and the situation in the Grand Massif. Hope you can return soon Sarah and Neil

A great stay

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for a week in August at this apartment. Really pleased when we arrived as the apartment was much bigger than we expected. We are a family of five and there is lots of space and so many beds the kids swapped around during the week. Everything was exceptionally clean and facilities brilliant. The kitchen and bathrooms were all clean and looked new. The area is great for walking in the mountains as you walk out of the block straight out onto the ski slopes. 8 minutes to the local town which has all the shops, restaurants etc and a local lake which was great for swimming and paddling for the kids - as usual in France there are lifeguards and a man made beach. Short drive away are rafting trips down the river which is great fun, even with the cold water. Around the apartment are a local shop which is good for essentials, restaurants and bars - some are not open in the summer but will be buzzing in the ski season. There are a few steps to climb to the apartment which is on the top floor of the block but well worth the exercise. I would thoroughly recommend this place for a holiday whether in the summer or winter. Great place.

From the Owner

We bought the apartment as it is ski in - out, and when you have small children is ideal as you don't have to carry their skies as well as your own at the end of the day. We are less than 2 minutes from the ski locker to the nearest 4 man chair lift and the Gondola down to Morillon Village. We drive from Warwick and when we leave Euro Tunnel it is an 8 -9 hour drive to Morillon 1100.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Geneva at 50 Miles Car: necessary

Special interest holidays:

"2016 Tour de France" the penultimate day passes through Taninges and Samoens before heading to Morzine via Le Col Joux Plane on the 23rd July 2016. There is also a time trial from Megeve to Sallanches

You could try paragliding which is available nearly all year from Samoens and Morillon village and they take you up to Samoens 1600 they glide back down the valley. In the summer there is white water rafting, hiking, climbing, cycling and mountain biking (bikes can be hired in most villages) and tennis. For the children (and the not so small) next to Lac Bleu is a adventure park with ropes and zip wires through the trees, for the little ones with harnesses on they can enjoy climbing in the trees and for the older one they could try the 120m zip wire across the lake. Morillon village is about 10 minutes down the mountain and has a market every Friday.

Morillon is less than a hour from Geneva airport, where you can hire a car or if you only want to ski the transfer taxis are very good, you will need a car if you want to visit the local towns and villages. If you are taking a ferry or the Eurotunnel form the UK we are about eight hours from Calais.

The apartment is situated in Morillon 1100, Les Esserts, just 10 minutes up the mountain road from Morillon village. Samoens is 20 minutes, a busy town with lots of restaurants, bars and shop. Sixt Fer a Cheval is 30 minutes where there are some fantastic waterfalls. Less than an hour away is Lake Geneva, Evian, and the beautiful town of Annecy and just over an hour is Chamonix surrounded by mountains but worth a visit.

Further Details:

During the ski season there are 5 restaurants a small supermarket, a bakery/café and ski hire shops and in July and August the supermarket, 1 or 2 restaurants, bakery/café is open and a hire shop. 2 lifts run in the summer to take up either to walk or cycle down or just to enjoy the surroundings and go the L'igloo resturant. There is also a tennis court and football/basket ball court.

You can take the gondola down to Morillon village, here there is a spring fed lake where you can swim in the summer, they rope a shallow area off for children in July and August with life guards and there's sand around the edge for them to play in.

From the Owner

The apartment is spacious so you can all relax comfortably after a day on the mountain. If you don't ski or perhaps only like to ski for a few hours a day you can make the most of the beautiful mountain view from the balcony, or sit in one of the nearby restaurant with a drink and watch the world go by. In the summer you can walk over to the swimming pool (open 2 -6 pm) and have a free swim. The supermarket, bakery and some resturants will be open and the lifts run 5 days a week to take you (and your bikes) up the mountain.
