But today, though still with it's near original exterior, it has been made comfortable and appealing for modern living. It has been sympathetically extended and refurbished to accommodate family living space with a generous cottage secluded garden, secure for young children to have fun or mum's and dad's to relax and chill.

About the Owner

Hi, My name is Peter and my wife's name is Gill, we have enjoyed owning our lovely holiday home in Fowey since buying it in 1999 after a long search for... 'just the right one.' We are both retired and also live part-time in Oxfordshire. Our children are grown and scattered but they all love to come down to Fowey with our grandchildren to visit with us and enjoy all the fantastic Cornish beaches, water sports and a traditional friendly welcome with good honest food and drink. We hope that after visiting this site you will want to come and enjoy our home, The Bowshot Lady and our NEW addition Bowshot Cottage too.

Bowshot Cottage, close to the harbour is a traditional Cornish 18th.Century Grade II listed charming cottage, beautifully refurbished with modern comforts and we fell in love...The cottage is close to the heart of the town and has soaked up all that lovely Cornish hospitality for over 250 years, an easy short stroll down to the harbour, shops and tasty restaurants come and enjoy!

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

Ideal for coastal walks, visits to horticultural gardens, the famous Eden Project, Lanhydrock House, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, sailing, sea fishing, coastal and river boat trips, canoe river treks, scenery painting, golf and of course water sports, safe swimming and beach activities. Wind surfing and dinghy sailing classes are avaiable at nearby Polkerris beach.

Coast/Beach:

Harbour / estuary 3 mins. walking, beaches 5 - 10 mins. easy walk. Readymoney cove is safe for swimming and has an anchored platform in the summer. Other beaches nearby are Lantic bay, Coombe, Polridmouth, Polkerris, Par sands, Carlyon Bay and Duporth. The beaches at Newquay and Watergate Bay are about 45 mins. away by car.

Travel:

Par railway station is 5 miles away, good taxi service from Fowey and has links with major stations. Frequent bus service to St. Austell. / Truro / Bodmin.

Fowey has several good class restaurants, 2 hotels, a deli, fresh fish shop, coffee shops, 2 bakeries, 2 post offices, local hospital, doctor's surgery, 2 banks, 2 dentists, clothes shops and a chandler's and more.

The cottage has over the last 30 years been extended from its original size and sympathetically refurbished to suit modern 21st. Century living and we will continue to add comforts as and when we can between a flow of happy holiday guests. It enjoys a typical small contained garden that catches that Cornish sunshine for most of the day and is a haven in which to take five and enjoy a glass of chilled wine on a summer's afternoon.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: You may park at the front to unload/load for a short while. The main car park is a short walk away and a weekly pass can be obtained and will be valid in any Council owned park in Cornwall. Outside: A paved secluded rear garden is secure on all sides for children's safe play, lovely flower beds, bench, patio table and chairs and picnic table. There is a rotary washing line. Also a hosepipe is available for washing down wetsuits etc. At the end there is a storage shed for garden chairs, deck chairs and general usage. Utility Room: This room off the bathroom houses the boiler, vacuum cleaner, ironing board and cleaning materials. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen included, towels and tea-towels are provided. For long stays a mid-term linen change can be arranged.
