Lovely, relaxing place to unwind.

  • 5 of 5

Our daughter booked us the weekend for a Christmas present, she was given lots of information and help from Martha right from the start. On our arrival we were greeted by Martha who showed us to the cottage, and it is beautiful, clean and very well thought out. The cottage is light and airy , and comfy to snuggle up after the lovely long walks we had . There was a freshly baked loaf to greet us which was delicious.

We spent our time walking from the cottage to the coastal walks around. The cottage is in a great spot. We took our little dog Mabel who loved Marthas little dog Billy. So all in all we had a lovely time and would highly recommend staying here. Martha was friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome.

The perfect weekend away

  • 5 of 5

The perfect escape from the city this little cottage had everything we needed to rest. A comfy place with stunning views near Fishguard and Newport with lovely shops and pubs and near the coastal path. Recommend finding the walk through the waterfall to the beach what a lovely walk. Running around Dinas Island by the cliffs was quite an experience too! don't worry if you haven't planned ahead, Martha has loads of good touristic books and maps to help you decide what to do! Thank you Martha!

Loved it

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely love this place!! The most dog friendly holiday home we've stayed in with a brilliant big garden for our border collie to run around in. There are horses in the stables next door but they weren't ever out in the field next to the garden during our stay, they were in the other fields a little further away from the garden. The accommodation lends itself to being dog friendly too i.e tiled floors and wooden floors no cream carpet!!! And we thank you for no restrictions on dogs being allowed in the bedroom, he is part of our family.

A perfectly equipped kitchen, great comfy sitting room, lovely bed and amazing spa bath and shower. Absolutely spotlessly clean, and is lovely and warm, great central heating with plenty of hot water. Fab location with fantastic walks around dinas head, Newport sands is stunning and worth making a trip to Barafundle Bay!! Good eateries close by too. This place has introduced us to this stunning part of Wales! Lovely non intrusive owners and who aren't greedy as its brilliant value for money. We wouldn't hestitate to recommend this place! Wish we'd have stayed two weeks instead of one.

Owner's Response: Thank you guys. What a great review, most of our dog guests are so tired by the end of the day after all the running about on the beach, they come back to The Carthouse for a good sleep. Delighted that you enjoyed your stay, Regards Martha and family

Absolute heavenly bliss

  • 5 of 5

After our most fabulous wedding Sunday 18th December we decided to book 3 nights away in a cottage to wind down before our honeymoon and thankfully The Carthouse caught our eye....it was simply perfect x Everything about it was just stunning infact we decided to have a drive into Newport, loved it there, then drove to Fishguard where we were planning on dining that evening however the heaven's opened so we decided to go back to our lovely Carthouse then when it brightened up later we had a walk to the local pub in Dinas Cross, The Freemasons, where we made to feel so welcome. The whole visit was faultless and Martha was so pleasant and also very welcoming leaving us a freshly baked loaf and congratulations card, beautiful xxx
