Blessed with a tranquil setting on the corner of an ancient cobblestone courtyard Goosemire is a traditional Lakeland stone barn conversion, on the edge of Bampton. The inside is dominated by old architecture in the form of exposed knurled crook roof beams, trusses and combed ceilings. Destinctive hallway with exposed Lakeland stone walls leads to the beautifully presented living room which retains many original features, a magnificent inglenook fireplace wrapped around a multi fuel stove, beamed ceiling and deep window recesses. The open plan kitchen/dining area is a chiefs delight, with patio doors leading to the enclosed private garden, with scenic views over the Lowther Valley. Three beautifully presented bedrooms and bathroom complete this delightful dwelling. Mardale Inn is only a short stroll away. Haweswater nature reserve is nearby, and Pooley Bridge and Ullswater are only 4 1/2 miles away. Free Wifi

Previous review from 2014 shows there being no wifi, it has since been installed. Mobile signal is still very patchy depending on network but you can usually get a signal in the courtyard.

Great retreat

Myself and my husband stated at the barn with our daughter and the grandparents. This was a lovely barn with a lot of original features, the twin room was where my daughter stayed which has a beam running straight through the room - she loved it! There is plenty of room in the barn a lovely garden and beautifully located not too far from Ullswater which was where we went one day to explore Aira Force - a must see!

The multi fuel stove took a bit of getting used too, initially it didn't get very hot and since it heats the upstairs of the barn we thought this may be a problem. As it was, the weather was very mild and the key we discovered was to completely clear it of ash and then get it going. We found the location perfect, myself and my husband are complete slaves to our technology and here there was no phone signal or wi-if which was absolute bliss! Also if you love walking and stunning views then go up the road leading upwards directly opposite the entrance to the track to the barn. We didn't quite make it all the way to the top, but the views from where we did get to were absolutely stunning in every direction, our daughter loved running around, jumping off the heather and playing hide and seek, it is definitely worth an hour out of anyone's stay if going to the barn. We will definitely be looking at coming back to Bampton, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

Saturday however depending on bookings we can sometimes be flexible and also offer short breaks, therefore it is best to contact us with your requirements.

Please ignore Owners Direct pro-rata rates as this is not how our break prices are calculated as there are fixed costs like laundry, cleaning, heating etc which have to be covered. Ive asked them to remove the pro-rata pricing as it’s misleading but so far got nowhere with them.
Our out of season short break rates are calculated at 65% of weekly rent for up to 3 nights stay. 75%= 4 nights, 85%= 5 nights, 95% = 6 nights. For school holiday weeks our minimum rate is 80% of weekly rental for up to 4 nights stay, 90% for 5 nights stay and 95% for 6 nights stay.
