About the property

Cottage in Charlestown, St Austell, Cornwall, England - Charlestown Is The Home Port Of Square Sail Tall Ships Used In Film Pro

Just 200 metres from the beach, beautiful coastal walks and minutes from a variety of restaurants and pubs, this pretty fisherman's cottage is set in a quiet corner of Charlestown, within an English rose garden at the front, whilst at the back there is a small Mediterranean-style, secluded courtyard, with white-washed stone walls, hidden candle light and tubbed palms.

Sunnyside is a warm and welcoming cottage which has been refurbished to give a light and homely feeling retaining many of its traditional features. The large well equipped galley kitchen is beamed and has plenty of work surfaces.

Although the shower room and toilet is quaint and bijou, it accommodates a full sized shower. Both of the bedrooms have window seats and ample room for clothes storage.

Charlestown’s harbour, which is flanked by beaches, can be viewed from the double bedroom. There are sections of Cornwall coastal path to enjoy within easy access!

About Amanda Brewer

I was born in Cornwall and spent my early years in St. Ives. My work took me to this area. We have lived in Charlestown since 1998 and during our time here we have witnessed many changes, all for the better in my opinion. Charlestown has numerous eateries catering for both families and/or couples. There are many craft and souvenir shops tucked away and much more. We not only enjoy living by the sea, but also love the country walks on our doorstep. It is wonderful to be able to eat out, drink and enjoy the sea and countryside without having to get in our car. During the film making many people come to watch. It's an exciting time in Charlestown when the film crew arrive and the sets are built. We have been extras in some of the films made here! Another lovely time of the year is when the sea is wild and stormy, our small harbour is terrorised by raging spectacular waves. There is a great sense of community in Charlestown, which has contributed to us staying here for so many years! Although we have travelled extensively, we always love coming home and still appreciate this little gem where we've lived so happily.

Convenient, cozy and comfortable

We stayed in Sunnyside for a week in May as a base to tour around Corwall. We were delighted by the accomodation, which is a tastefully renovated small home. All the facilities worked fine and the cottage was fully equipped for our stay. Even the robins were friendly. We took day trips to visit Mevagissy, Heligan gardens, Looe, Fowey (our favourite), Launceston, Port Isaac, Padstow, Mullien, Trevose, and St. Austell/Charlestown, of course. The house is very convenient to the A390 and walking paths are nearby. Parking at the front gate was convenient. There is much more of Cornwall to experience and we hope to return.

This is another lovely stay at sunnyside cottage just our we remembered it we had some fantastic weather and went to several nice houses and gardens and would recommend it. Some have over 50 rooms to view another place to visit is right on your door step a walk away from the cottage lots to see it big than you think the ticket lasts all day so you can go in and out as many times as you like Charlie town as is know by the locals is a set for poldark with tall ships in the harbour hopefully we will going back soon thanks to Amanda and Dave once again

A lovely cosy cottage , set in old harbour with lots of character.

We had a very relaxing week in Sunnyside which is like a home from home, made very welcome by the owner. Charlestown is a quaint harbour town within easy walking distance of the coastal path and nearby are places to visit such as

Eden Project añd city of Truro. Would definitely recommend it.

Beautiful. Spotless comfortable, well situated, easy to access

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for 5 nights booking was a little confusing as the request for the security bond and the bedding was not on the initial booking application but it all got sorted in the end. The cottage was beautiful ,warm and well equipped for our needs. We couldn't have asked for more Accessing public transport was ok but be prepared for some fairly steep hills to climb though a bus comes half way down the hill to take you into town or train station.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review, it is always appreciated by future guests. Yes Charlestown has a good bus service because buses go to Fowey in one direction and Heligan Gadens in the other both via St. Austell and the train station. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at Sunnyside and found the cottage comfortable. Hopefully we'll see you again! Many thanks Amanda

Warm cozy and very welcoming cottage to return to after visits out in the day

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in Sunnyside Cottage on numerous occasions as it has such a lovely ambience about it and some minor improvements by the owner Amanda has made staying there even more enjoyable. It is in such a lovely village Charlestown which is so convenient for visiting other parts of Cornwall as well and the village itself has great pubs and eating establishments as well as cafe's and craft shops plus there are supermarkets not too far away.

The gardens in the cottage are a great place to relax in especially if you are lucky enough to have sunny weather with the rear courtyard garden called "The Oasis" being especially good to sit and have your breakfast or a glass of wine in the evening or just to relax in as it is so pretty . A special place that holds a special place in our hearts
