Sunnyside - A Cornish Cottage With Sea Views In Poldark's Harbour Charlestown

Overview

Property

Updated: 07-Dec-2016
Cottage in Charlestown, St Austell, Cornwall, England - Charlestown Is The Home Port Of Square Sail Tall Ships Used In Film Pro

Just 200 metres from the beach, beautiful coastal walks and minutes from a variety of restaurants and pubs, this pretty fisherman's cottage is set in a quiet corner of Charlestown, within an English rose garden at the front, whilst at the back there is a small Mediterranean-style, secluded courtyard, with white-washed stone walls, hidden candle light and tubbed palms.

Sunnyside is a warm and welcoming cottage which has been refurbished to give a light and homely feeling retaining many of its traditional features. The large well equipped galley kitchen is beamed and has plenty of work surfaces.

Although the shower room and toilet is quaint and bijou, it accommodates a full sized shower. Both of the bedrooms have window seats and ample room for clothes storage.

Charlestown’s harbour, which is flanked by beaches, can be viewed from the double bedroom. There are sections of Cornwall coastal path to enjoy within easy access!

Enchanting vacations

  • 5 of 5

The pretty, cosy and very clean cottage gave us a perfect stay in Cornwall. The cottage is perfect for 2 persons because it is big anough for a stay and not too big to feel comfortable and homelike. The kitchen was also well equipped and very tidy. We enjoyed our 5 days there very much.

A Little Gem of a Cottage

  • 5 of 5

What a little Gem of a cottage within walking distance to many fine restaurants and pubs, the Rashleigh Arms was our favourite. An early evening stroll to the harbour watching the young and old swim, fish and enjoy themselves is a must. The cottage has everything you need and with the owners living next door it helped when we needed advice. The only thing missing was more sunshine. We visited Eden Project, Bodmin Jail, Padstow, Truro and Fowey ( on the Ferry from Mevagissy, which was very enjoyable although a bit choppy on the way back ). Nothing is too far away. Would visit the area again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review, it is greatly appreciated. It's always good to hear how you spent your holiday. Thank you for the tip about the ferry and I'm glad you found the bus service from Charlestown handy. Yes, there are an excellent range of restaurants, cafes and bars in the village. We hope to welcome you to Sunnyside again in the near future.

Sunnyside, Charlestown

  • 4 of 5

Sunnyside was a delightful cottage, just a few steps from the lovely harbour of Charlestown and even closer to some nice eateries. It was ideal for 2, clean and comfortable. We were blessed with nice weather to sit in the garden with a long drink and visit all the local places of interest - Lost Gardens of Heligan, Eden Project and especially Pinetum Gardens which were wonderful. Would definitely recommend it.

Charlestown in Spring.

  • 4 of 5

This was a return to Cornwall but our first time staying in Charlestown. The village is perfectly placed for exploring both north and south coasts. It offers the best of both worlds; coastal location with main shopping facilities of St Austell minutes away by car, together with a selection of galleries and restaurants in walking distance. The property offered bright, clean, cheerful interiors with a sunny front garden and rear courtyard. The owners live next door. They were friendly, helpful and welcoming without being intrusive and offered useful suggestions about walks along the local stretch of the coastal paths. We would return.

Beautiful relaxing holiday

  • 5 of 5

Just wanted to say thank you for a lovely week in your beautiful cottage.

Anyone wanting a relaxing holiday with Beautiful sights and fun places to visit this is the cottage to come to.

We had a lovely welcome and as soon as we walked through the door we fell in love. The area is so quiet but there are still a nice handful of walks and pubs/restaurants to visit. Couldn't fault any of them.

Places we visited and would recommend to everyone = lost gardens of heligan (you can take a picnic) Eden project, bodmin jail, Truro, the stunning Mevagissey and the coastal walls around Charlestown.

All in all the perfect week.

Thanks again and hopefully see you soon!

A place to remember

  • 5 of 5

For seven days we had a place to relax in and after a hectic day out this was a great treat. The property was homely, clean and had everything you needed.

First class customer service from the owner and caretaker and I'd thoroughly recommend Sunnyside to any of my friends and family. The cottage was so well situated for all the attractions in the area and the boat trip from Falmouth to St Maws was a particular favourite of ours. The Pier House was our favourite restaurant and there were none that we disliked.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for taking the time to write this review. I'm pleased that Sunnyside cottage and Charlestown was to your liking. The Pier House restaurant is also one of our favourite places to eat, although the Rashliegh serves a good variety of food and is a stones throw from the cottage. It's a bonus that there are so many places to enjoy good food and drink within a short walk. We look forward to welcoming you again. Kind regards Amanda and Dave
