Our home can accommodate up to four couples or two families. It provides for spacious, luxurious living both internally and externally with a good size pool and tennis court. Located on the outskirts of a small but fully functioning village. It is neighboured by a few other villas all with a minimum of one hecter of land (most of our neighbours are French). It is therefore a peaceful landscape and would not suit those who wish to party into the night. The property benefits from a fluent English, French speaking guardian, Justine, who can take care of arrangements for you such as booking local restaurants and even giving you a lift there and back. She is also available for occasional baby sitting. Her husband works a long day and the couple can be as invisible as you want. Our guests last year enjoyed Justine's cream teas. The property is only available for rent for up 4 weeks during the summer therefore we are relaxed about changeover dates.

About Lynne Gomer

I am a retired Head of HR at a global firm of accountants and my husband is a partner at the same firm. We have three grown up daughters and two grandsons. For our recreation we enjoy walking as long as there is luxury at the end of the walk in the form of a good boutique hotel, a superb meal and fine wine. It go without saying we enjoy time with our children and their partners and thoroughly enjoy and indulge our two little monsters who think we are their mates rather than nana and granddad. Being able to spend time as a family in our home in France is a real bonus in life.

Why Lynne Gomer chose Aix-en-Provence area

We found a plot of land in Rognes 2005 on which to build our home and it was completed 2007.

We chose the village for its proximity to Aix en Provence and the Luberon. It is nestled between the best of both worlds; a vibrant city with culture and charm and beautiful mountainous countryside dotted with delightful villages and vineyards. It is also only one hour away from family friendly coastal resorts.

We also needed a fully functioning village with butchers, bakers, restaurants, doctors etc. as our daughter, husband and grandsons were to make their home there.

Our home is on the outskirts of the village on a one hectare plot and therefore quiet. But close enough to everything you need for daily life.

What makes this villa unique

Our home is built in the image of a traditional French bastide but without cranky plumbing. It was built to a high specification and benefits from the following;

Beautiful home. A perfect place to unwind

We came here with our two teenage daughters for our first week in Provence. We were made to feel very welcome and settled in immediately. All home comforts were provided, plus a very welcome Welcome Pack. The house is very spacious and luxurious, with soft sheets and towels. The garden is beautiful; a mix of English roses and french olive trees with a magnificent pool. There are 3 places to sit outside; the terrace with basket chairs for breakfast, the pool house for lunch and a side terrace for dinner. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

The village of Rognes itself, though small, has 2 bakeries, 2 butchers and Pamplemousse, a lovely fruit and veg shop, plus a small Spa shop and a charming Wednesday market.

If you want to relax in beautiful surroundings, then this is the place for you.
