Trinafour is a very well equipped house that makes for a comfortable and trouble free holiday. the house was clean and well presented. We were a mix of three generations and fitted into the accommodation easily. We enjoyed a week of perfect weather and spent about half the time on the many beaches and the rest visiting the many interesting places in the vicinity. We in no way exhausted the possibilities.

Auchencairn cottage

  • 5 of 5

Trinafour cottage exceeded our expectations. Large, well furnished rooms with a home from home feel. Delicious lemon cake on arrival was a well treat. Lots of walks and local places of historical interest. Only word of caution is that house is accessed up a short but quite steep incline but so worth it.

Very relaxing stay

  • 4 of 5

We found Trinafour to more than meet our expectations. It has a lovely garden full of flowers with patio and conservatory if the weather is not so good. The bedrooms are all very spacious with good quality bed linen. The downstairs bedroom has a large en suite bathroom and the three upstairs bedrooms share a family size bathroom . The lounge was very comfortable and looked out over the village and fields towards the sea. The kitchen is well equipped and we had dinner in the dining room on our first evening. We walked to the Smugglers Arms, about five minutes away for dinner on Saturday and Sunday evening and enjoyed very good, reasonably priced food served by friendly staff. The Balcary Inn about two miles away was too far to walk and at more than £40 per head for a three course dinner was not our choice on this occasion.

We drove to Gatehouse on Fleet on Saturday morning and had coffee at the visitors centre followed by a walk round the shops and galleries at Kirkcudbright. We had a super lunch at Castle Douglas in a cafe below a shop on the Main Street called Design before returning to Auchencairns. We drove to the car park at Balcary and did part of the coastal walk and would certainly like to return and see more of the coast there.

Next day we visited Kipford and walked to Rockcliffe in the rain. We had lunch at the Anchor Inn followed by coffee and fabulous carrot cake at the Ark coffee and gift shop before returning to our warm, comfortable holiday house.

This is the third year we have stayed in Owners Direct houses at the May holiday weekend and we were very happy with the standard of Trinafour.
