About the Owner

Hi I'm Helen and welcome to Naburn Holiday Cottage info. I live in Selby, which is about 14 miles from Naburn. My family and I have enjoyed many cottage holidays over the years and when the opportunity arose, we were inspired to create our own holiday cottage so that our guests can have a good time exploring all that North Yorkshire has to offer from a comfortable base.

Our priority was to offer good quality, clean and comfortable accommodation with great home from home facilities. I am able to provide a personal touch for our guests as I prepare the cottage myself and look after all other aspects of bookings and running the cottage.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Thank you for a wonderful stay. Your house is 5 star, very well equipped, gorgeously comfy bed and great location, we loved it!"

Tim and family

‘The cottage has been beautifully restored not so much a ‘home from home’ but a ‘better than home’ from the fixtures and fittings to the games, books, dvds and treats – the free wifi and ipod docking stations were a real bonus. Had breakfast a few days on the patio in the sunshine and by the end of the week I was thoroughly relaxed and did not want to go home!”

Fantastic holiday home

  • 4 of 5

Very clean and spacious cottage for

our family to stay. Very well equipped and had everything we could ask for. Owners were very accommodating. The only reason for not having 5 stars is the stairs up to the loft bedroom were very steep for our eldest child to use herself when she needed bathroom in the night. Would definitely stay here again though. Thanks for a great stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your review and I've noted your feedback about the stairs - something to mention if guests are planning to come with small children. I'm pleased you enjoyed your stay and that you would come back!

Ideal location

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in Naburn. The lovely cottage was comfortable and well equipped, everything we expected! The village is an ideal location for visiting York and surrounding area. There is a local bus service to the city but we used the Park and Ride at the Outlet Centre only a few minutes drive from Naburn. The Marina restaurant is a good spot for breakfast. Fish and Chips in Bizzie Lizzies beside the canal in Skipton is well worth the trip and the town is nice too. Thank you Helen for the welcome tray and attention to detail. We hope to return to Yorkshire in the future.

"Practically perfect in every way"

  • 5 of 5

This Mary Poppins of a cottage is delightful. Everything you need is here and in excellent condition. The cottage is spotless and comfortable. York is just a few minutes drive away and travel by bus is easy from the bus stop across the road. The location is quiet and we were able to park close enough to charge up an electric car most nights of the week. The owner was very helpful and answered queries straight away.

The A64 to the coast is easily accessible and we made use of it to travel in the direction of Castle Howard - 35mins - and to Nunnington Hall and Ampleforth a bit further away. Other days we were in York where disabled parking is free and easily available. Regular parking is expensive and scarce but the park and ride base is about 2 miles from this cottage with busses every 20 mins so they say.

There is no village store in this village and although the welcome tray is excellent you must bring food with you or you will be eating out or driving quite a way towards York to find the makings of a meal.

We have had an excellent holiday. Two happy teenagers who really enjoyed the Cold War Bunker in York and the Castle museum and two adults who enjoyed everything!

I was born and brought up in Yorkshire and love the variety that North Yorkshire offers from historic towns and cities to wild moors and a beautiful coastline.
