Shepherd's Hut

Perfect retreat for the romantic getaway weekend (or longer!). This wonderful Shepherd's Hut is fully equipped with miniature shower room and loo, a microwave/grill, kettle and a fold-away bed. With an extra cupboard of storage space on the outside, this little hut takes you back to basics. With its own water-lily filled pond, it is a calm and tranquil spot, with a view up to the South Downs and over buttercup paddock. Brilliant food at the Richmond Arms, or across the field to the Horse and Groom. Pop-up kitchen occasionally available too.

About the property

E9767 Chichester

From the beautiful light and lofty living/dining area, the cottage looks out over the orchard, the horses and the South Downs. Filled with the owner's art and sculpture, the cottage is warm and toasty with its underfloor heating. A perfect base for the culture vulture in Chichester, the sailor in Selsey and the golfer at Goodwood (as well as car, horse, and festival devotees)! Situated in the beautiful property of Graingers, the current owner's art studios are also on site, and open to guests. Chichester's cathedral is a must-see, as are all the Roman ruins in and around the town. A great place to dine out too. Other good eateries include the The Richmond Arms in the village, The Horse and Groom in the next village, and occasionally a pop-up kitchen down the road! A haven of peace and tranquillity, Hornbeam offers you the great escape from the hustle and bustle of daily living. Wake up to the beautiful sound of birdsong, and the clopping of the horse's hooves in the yard.

Why Neil Lawson Baker chose Chichester

With it's history dating back to 1572 Graingers Farm and its beautiful Hornbeam Cottage have a peaceful serenity loved by everyone who stays. With a wonderful contemporary art studio in the grounds the owner is a well recognised Sculptor (www.neillawsonbaker.com) and visitors often commission artworks or buy art while visiting.

Being close to a City with one of the worlds finest collections of contemporary British Art at Pallant House Gallery and also The Cass Foundation Sculpture Park is one thing but also the Witterings beaches, 5 wonderful sailing harbours , the down lands of The South Downs National Park and the City of Chichester itself make this an ideal cottage for a wonderful stay in West Sussex.

There is so much to see and do.

What makes this cabin unique

Easy access to Chichester and even to London (1 hour 20 minutes by train from Havant). Art lovers will love Neil's studios and his art-works all around the garden and in the cottage. Friendly and easy-going, the Lawson Bakers want you to love Graingers as much as they do!
