The Cornflowers Holiday Home, in Lairoux Nr. Lucon, Vendee, 18km From The Beaches Of The Southern Vendee, Countryside Location

The Cornflowers holiday home is located in the quiet hamlet of L'Oulerie, part of the village of Lairoux, and only a 20 minute drive to the fantastic sandy beaches of the Vendee.

The house comfortably caters for up to 8 guests and the ground floor is mostly open plan, with a large living room / kitchen / dining area. There is a TV with UK and French free-to-air TV channels, A Wii console and games, DVD player and films and Wi-Fi internet connection.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, range cooker, microwave, wine fridge, kettle, toaster and coffee maker. The washing machine and extra fridge/freezer are located in the utility room.

The family bathroom and separate WC are located on the ground floor.

Upstairs there are four bedrooms – two with double beds and two with two single beds each. There is also an en suite shower room and separate WC.

During the winter of 2014/15 the house was completely decorated throughout, and new furniture was added to the bedrooms, lounge and outside dining area. A new fence has also been added around the pool for the security of your children.

The outside space is perfect for relaxing - with sun loungers and an al fresco dining area under a covered veranda. The 10 x 4m pool is heated from May until the end of September.

The Cornflowers Holiday Home is set in a quiet location, but near to lots of tourist attractions and towns with bakeries, shops and markets selling local produce.

Why Annette Khan chose Vendee

The Cornflowers Holiday Home is owned by Sarah & Jeremy who live in the UK. They had been holidaying in the Vendee since 2003 and loved the area so much that they decided to buy a house here. They have enjoyed many family holidays at the house, and in 2011, decided that they wanted to rent the house out for others to enjoy. The rentals are now managed by Annette & Jason Khan who live in the same village as the house. We have spent many sunny days on the beach and boarding at Longueville. We have also visited Jard Sur Mer, investigating rock pools in the afternoon on the beach and then staying for supper in the Vieux Port. We enjoyed visiting La Rochelle and strolling around the Old Port before sampling the local cuisine in one of the many small family run restaurants.

What makes this house unique

The house is in a great location, with many great restaurants only a short drive away, and many attractions within a 20 minute drive. Our boys loved the Indian Adventure Park, and the treasure trail at the Chateau! We loved strolling around the harbour at La Rochelle, or visiting the street markets at La Faute sur Mer on a Sunday morning - buying freshly picked fruit and veg or seafood straight off of the boats. For a quiet, relaxing day - the house and gardens are perfect - with no passing traffic, secluded garden and pool to cool off in! Who could want for more!

Recommend La Rochelle - the market there is really sweet. Pool is fantastic! The best holiday house no doubt about it - the pool is amazing. Well worth a visit to the café by the river in Lavaud. Also, the best French kitchen we've ever used! Weather was sunny all 14 days (first time that's ever happened in 13 years!)

Fabulous time, Fabulous weather! Everything we needed at the house and superb location too. We all loved the pool.

Great days out at La Tranche sur Mer and La Terrière. Beautiful scenery/coastline at Talmont Saint Hilaire. Our favourite beach by far, especially for body boarding, was Les Conches - as recommended by the fabulous gardener!

Excellent having Annette only a phone call away. We really hope to return. A big thank you from all of us.

(This is a cul-de-sac, with very little passing traffic) The house is clean and tidy for your arrival, and should be left in the same way. All bed linens and towels are provided, except pool/beach towels. The 10m x 4m heated pool is set at the far end of the garden and has a newly installed fence and gate with security lock for the security of your children. The gardens are completely private and not overlooked by the neighbours. There is off-street parking in the garden, which is surrounded by tall hedges and a set of gates. The garden is sheltered, and the pool area is in a sunny location for most of the day.

Superb hideaway

What an idyllic week... Perfect place for a quiet getaway with all mod cons and more. Beautiful property offering lots of spacious accommodation with lots of added bonuses for children of all ages, should there be rainy days - which there weren't, lucky for us. The pool is heated but, even when it's sunny and hot, it offers a lovely place to cool down. No shops in walking distance, but the nearest Hyper U in Luçon, 10 minutes away, has lots of fabulous food on offer. Would definitely revisit. Loved it!

The area offers lots of amusements for all ages - with the beaches only 20 minutes away, and lots of pretty towns to explore - like La Rochelle & the Ile de Ré.

Two families with small children (4 adults & 3 under 4's) and a couple of Dogs - loads of room for all of us. Facilities good, communications with Owners reps were really good and clear, Would we go again? Yes.

Happy Days

The property was exactly as described on the website and was perfect for a party of 8. The facilities were excellent with enough of everything in the kitchen you could possibly need. The pool was great and the outdoor dining area suited us perfectly and was very well used. The whole house was clean from top to bottom and felt like our holiday had started the moment we arrived.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone for a holiday.
