About the property

Cottage nr Woodsford, Dorchester, Dorset, England

This beautiful spacious 3 bedroom stone and slate cottage with very large well established garden is thought to be built in the 1700's and is set in a rural location with countryside views. Lovely log burner in the lounge. Just outside the kitchen door is a conservatory leading to a patio area with garden furniture and further down the garden there is a summerhouse overlooking a fenced pond. A wide variety of birds visit the garden.

Warm, Homely, Great Place for a Family!!

  • 4 of 5

We loved the large rooms, the large garden, the amount of equipment in the house. The walls are thick so the children can play in one part of the house and adults can relax in another. The garden is huge and got lots of interesting places for children to play in - our children loved it! There's Sky TV, DVD player with a good selection of DVDs for different ages and a Wii with a Wii Fit board. It was wonderful seeing all the birds on the bird feeders, and hearing the lambs bleating from the field across from the front door.

A lovely experience

  • 4 of 5

Lovely well restored cottage in a peaceful country location, with birds and rabbits. Ideal for either stay put total relax type holiday or as a touring base. Convenient to Dorchester and all other beautiful Dorset attractions. Very clean well maintained property, fully equipped. Secure carpark areas. Owner friendly and helpful. A highlight of our 7 week visit from New Zealand. Highly recommended. Dorchester museum outstanding and Re-loved café in Dorchester worth a visit.

Well equipped and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

A well equipped and comfortable cottage with a fabulous garden which was well used by the dogs and toddler alike. It was very secure (our two pointers tried very hard to find a way out!) which was a real bonus as the road at the end of the lane was quite dangerous. We had fabulous weather and so the garden was well used when we were in in the evenings for barbecues (it would be useful to have something to stand a disposable BBQ on?)

The train track at the end of the garden was not too obtrusive except for the horn they blew for the nearby crossing.

All in all, we would return. We saw Dorset at its glorious best and enjoyed our holiday very much. The cottage is a good location to see a lot of the area. We visited Lulworth Cove, Studland Bay, Cerne Giant, The Tank Museum, Monkey World, Weymouth, Portland.

Thanks to the owners who live next door for letting us bring our three year old (actually Mummy was the most keen) to be introduced to the animals. Great.
