Sleeps 6 (+1), 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 ensuite a delightful cottage, in Rock, North Cornwall. Short breaks welcome outside high season dates. Situated within walking distance of sandy beaches, Camel Sailing & Waterski school, St Enedoc golf course and stunning coastal walks. Charming 100 year old cottage, with parking for 2 cars, quirky yet spacious, a few minutes walk to range of local shops including deli, bakery, butchers, chandler, and gift/clothing boutiques. Foot ferry to Padstow for access to Camel cycle trail and sea trips. Coasteering available for the brave. 2 miles from Polzeath for surfing schools and safe family beach, rock pools. Port Isaac (Doc Martin ) fame nearby and Tintagel for a history lesson. Secluded, sunny garden suitable for al fresco meals, safe for children and dogs. Take a walk to Porthilly and continue to Rock and onto Daymer Bay at low tide. Charter a boat, or take advantage of fishing/speed boat trips, you may also catch sight of dolphins in the estuary. About Wendy Head

We are Mark, Wendy & Ellie and we live on Dartmoor in Devon with our hens and ducks. We owned holiday cottages in a nearby village for 12 years, then took a break to bring up our daughter. We had the opportunity to purchase property in Rock, Cornwall which have been successful as holiday rentals. We have now converted the barn which was the site of the original Manor House before it burnt down. It has a 'home from home' feel which is important so you can relax and enjoy your holiday. We have added things we have collected over the years to make it feel homely for our guests. If you wish to plan a two centre holiday we aim to provide short breaks at both location except in high season.

We are nearby if needed but Cowshed has a private garden giving full seclusion for relaxation.

Why Wendy Head chose North Cornwall

Hollyhocks & Bryher offer comfort and peace yet is a few minutes walk to the local shops, beaches, golf and water sports activities. The accommodation is flexible to suit families or groups and provides a good base for seeking out the other local treasures such as Port Isaac and Boscastle.

Hollyhocks is a cosy yet spacious home and great for us as we live amongst granite tors and rolling fields, but the pull of the ocean lures us away to enjoy Rock and the surrounding area. Bryher provides a modern alternative for smaller parties.

The Cowshed is a fantastic base for exploring Dartmoor and Devon. It is modern and spacious with its own private courtyard garden within our grounds. Nearby villages provide all you need an have excellent dining and shops. Two centre holidays an option.

What makes this cottage unique

In Rock we enjoy walking to local shops and to the nearby beaches, our favourite walk is from Daymer Bay to Polzeath and in warm seas you can see dolphins swimming.

We love the convenience of having everything nearby, strolling to the beach and ferry and accessing all the lovely walks. Our daughter still enjoys messing about in the surf or in rock pools and equally enjoys the shopping experiences of local villages and towns. Once in Cornwall nowhere is that far away and there are gardens and National Trust houses to visit, seal sanctuaries and tourist attractions. The Eden project is well worth a visit too.

Our Dartmoor property is surrounded by beautiful countryside, plenty of attractions or peaceful walks. The Cathedral city of Exeter provides shops, history and plenty of places to eat.

The cottage can easily accommodate families and is set up so that one room can be used as a twin room (downstairs). It is also suitable for groups and couples or can provide a welcome retreat for two! Whether you like walking, sailing, surfing, shopping, dining out, beaches or rivers, cycling or lazing - Hollyhocks at Rock has something for everyone. A special place where you instantly unwind and get into the slower pace of life. The cottage has a home from home feel, is quaint yet surprisingly spacious, you can choose to leave the car at the property as so much is so close. Take a ferry to Padstow for shops, restaurants and the Camel cycle trail, walk the coast paths or laze on sandy beaches. Electric panel heaters and night store heaters plus wood burner for low season and winter breaks.South-facing private secluded garden laid mainly to lawn but with creeping clematis and sweet-smelling roses. Garden furniture, table and chairs with parasol for resting or al fresco meals. Sun lasts all day and into the evening. Large garden shed for hanging wetsuits and other equipment, bikes can be made available by arrangement with the owner. Area for barbecue, suggest disposables. We are happy to offer short breaks in low and mid seasons, please enquire. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The cottage is cleaned thoroughly after each rental period. Bedding (duvets, pillows) provided, linen available at extra cost. Please bring own towels. Other: There is a small room upstairs handy for storage, cleaning equipment, and somewhere to store cases. Bolt hole away from the world

5th time we have stayed at Hollyhocks and is a good ever.

Love it - wouldn't keep returning if we didn't like.

Everything you need and more, easy access to lots of cycle trails, attractions, beaches and points of interest.

Everyone is catered for even to the point of board games / books / dvds / bikes etc in the cottage for use if needed.

Another lovely stay at Hollyhocks. This is the second year running for us and this stay was as pleasurable as last year. Great location, the perfect base for exploring the delights of Cornwall. Many days out on the beach at Rock returning to the comfort of Hollyhocks.

Deposit of 25% required to reserve chosen week(s), the balance to be paid 8 weeks prior to the start of the rental. Linen charged at £12 per bed, dogs £20 per week. If cancelled we will endeavour to re-let the period and if re-let, the deposit/full payment will be refunded, less any charges for special adverts in an attempt to re-let, cancellation insurance is recommended. We are happy to hold provisional bookings but will need a deposit to secure it after 24 hours for peak weeks.

Changeover Day:
Friday but flexible for short breaks and low season.

Notes on prices:
Short breaks at reduced rates (not peak weeks). 3 nights 70% weekly rate, 4 nights 75% weekly rate, 5 nights 80% weekly rate. Linen £12 per bed, dogs by arrangement £15 per week.
